Chapter 29 - Beginning to Trust Again
Matt's Story [COMPLETED]
When Matt woke up, his body was in a funny position. His arm was tucked under Kristen's body, his head twisted upwards, his legs curled around her own. His breath almost hitched in his throat. She was so close to him that his brain had to focus properly until he fully realised. His other hand lay across her side and pressed against her chest gently.
He really didn't know if Kristen slept or not. Did vampires sleep? It made sense if they did because they'd have to rest at some point. Maybe it was just like a coma thing.
Kristen was just weird and slept at night instead.
It was probably easier to keep her pattern as normal as possible so Matt couldn't blame her for that.
She was so still that Matt could have mistaken her as a block of marble. Her fingers were clutching his against the bed whilst other other hand was under the pillow. Matt didn't want to wake her up, if she wasn't already awake, but he could hardly concentrate properly.
His legs were hitched so that her thighs touched his own, her body curving perfectly into his. He could feel her bum pressing into him and his heart sped up as he realised. She was still wearing his old top but it had crinkled upwards throughout their sleep and now Matt could feel her slender bare waist and hip bone against his arm.
Swallowing, he moved his free hand gently towards himself.
But she twitched, making Matt dust his fingers across her legs. He froze as his hand skimmed her thigh. Kristen made a soft sound and Matt relaxed slowly. She was still 'sleeping' but she could definitely feel him. He gently pressed his fingers onto her thigh then skimmed them upwards so that they tickled the bend before her hip.
She sighed and seemed to relax further than possible. Enjoying the reactions he was getting, he ran his fingers along her hip, skipping across her underwear and danced them along her waist. Her hips twitched and she seemed to push herself closer to him as she did do. He continued up her rib cage and then moved his fingertips across to lightly draw patterns against her stomach. His lips pressed delicately against her neck and the top of her shoulder which was slightly exposed.
Kristen mumured but he should tell that she liked it. Matt was enjoying it too much to process on whether she'd wake up from it or not. The top she was wearing really didn't stop his fingers in the slightest and he took great pleasure pulling it up further so that he could reach her stomach more.
Finally he froze as Kristen twisted herself round, her eyes still closed, so that she could face Matt. He looked into her face for a few minutes, studying her features, then proceeded to wander his eyes further down to her neck. If he looked under the cover, he could breifly see her legs and exposed hips.
Matt breathed in as his heart sped up.
She was beautiful but he shouldn't be doing this. He hadn't had a girl in his bed for so long.
He lifted his hand and gently pushed Kristen's hair out of her face. Eventually, her eyes fluttered open and she stared at him as he did it, half with shock and half with pleasure. Her eyes searched his and he saw her lift her hand as she placed it against his warm cheek.
"Hey." She said and smiled. A genuine smile.
"Hi."
"Did you sleep alright?"
Matt nodded and dropped his hand so that it lay between them, if it was possible. Kristen quickly lifted his hand back up and placed it on her hip bone. He fiddled with the edge of her underwear nervously.
Nervously? Was he suddenly losing himself?
Matt was never nervous!
Kristen smiled and leaned forward to kiss him and his nerves suddenly disappeared as he dug his fingers into her and dragged her closer to deepen it. She clutched at the back of his head to hold him in place and pulled one of her legs around him and pushed herself closer. Matt gasped as he realised the position and pulled back slightly but Kristen held on and kissed him gently again.
He slowly relaxed and squeezed her waist as he felt her smile against his lips.
"Do you remember all of last night then?" She asked quietly against his lips.
Matt nodded slightly and blinked as he watched her.
"You don't regret any of it?"
He could hear the hope in her voice and, slowly, he shook his head. "I'm going to hell anyway. Might as well enjoy it."
"Good." She twisted them so that she straddled his hips and Matt's eyes widened as she pressed against him. His hands automatically went under the top to clutch her waist. "I like being like this with you. We should have been like this ages ago."
"I was afraid." Matt admitted, too aware of her to even focuss on what he was admitting.
"Why?"
"I've lost so many people. I didn't want to lose anyone else." Matt looked up at her and her eyes sparkled as she leaned down to kiss him again. He couldn't help but eye her legs and hips as she sat on him, knowing full well that she could feel him against her.
She never made it known, however, and ran her nails down Matt's front, allowing him to groan gently. "Can we skip class today?" She asked and smiled as Matt raised his hands towards the bottom of her ribcage.
"If we dont go then we'll never get up." He breathed, knowing that it was true. He didn't want to push anything right now, despite the massive temptation sat on top of him.
"I dont mind that." Kristen smirked and leaned towards him so that Matt's fingers moved further up her ribcage to the edge of her bra. "I would happily stay here all day."
"I have no doubt." He smirked, unable to help himself as his fingers messed with the fabric, forcing himself not to go any further. "But we need to go."
Kristen sighed and slowly removed herself from on top of him.
Finally he could breathe. He quickly covered himself, but Kristen just grinned like a naughty school girl. Kristen got out of bed and wandered around the room aimlessly. Matt couldn't help but eye up her legs again.
"Can I wear one of your tops? My one is ripped and I didn't bring anything else with me."
"Can't you quickly get home and change then come back?"
Kristen grinned and Matt couldn't help but grin back. "I could but I don't want to."
Matt pointed towards his draw nearest the bed. "Help yourself."
He watched as she opened the draw and started shuffling around. He was massive compared to her so it was going to look ridiculous whatever she chose but, right now, when she was bent over, Matt really didn't care. She quickly picked out a long black top, which could have easily passed as a dress for her, and then placed it on the bed.
Slowly, she turned around, biting her lip almost nervously. "Matt?"
"Yeah?"
"Could I... I mean...I don't have to but it would be easier...to...well..."
"Kristen."
She froze at her name and then licked her lips. "Could I borrow a belt from Aimee's room? I'll wait here, if you want."
Matt's eyes widened as he sat up in bed. She was asking to borrow some of Aimee's stuff. He wasnt sure whether anything of Aimee's would have fit Kristen anyway but Kristen was skinny and if it was going around her waist then he knew the belt that would most likely fit. He just wasn't sure whether to hand it to Kristen to borrow.
"I'll...I'll give it back after class, I swear. I'll come straight back and put it back where it was."
Matt stayed quiet for a moment and he could see her uncomfortableness as she messed with her fingers and looked down. Slowly, he shuffled off the bed and stood up. Kristen watched him guiltily.
"I'll be back in a second."
Kristen's face relaxed slightly but it was still tense as Matt left the room to get the belt. He only realised that he was in nothing but his boxers when he padded across the hall and gently opened Aimee's door.
He slowly came back with the belt in his hands and Kristen had changed so that she wore the top over her jeans. She looked up when he came through and then eyed the belt he carried.
"Are you sure?" She asked as she reached towards him.
Matt nodded and gently dropped the belt into her hands. It was dark red and about a centimetre in thickness. He'd pulled it from one of Aimee's dresses which had been bought in advance so that she had it when she grew out of her clothes. Matt watched as Kristen slowly pulled the belt around her waist and tightened it to the very last hole.
She looked better than he thought it was going to look like. His top had easily turned into a short looking dress. Realising that he was staring, Matt quickly grabbed some jeans and pulled them on before moving to his wardrobe to find another top. He came out with a similar dark thermal top (most of his tops looked identical anyway) and shrugged it on before running his fingers through his hair.
He could see her watching him curiously.
When he closed the wardrobe he studied himself. He was perfect besides a small, almost faded bruise against the crook of his neck. He looked at Kristen accusingly but it wasn't in a nasty sense. She came towards him and moved his head so that she could see better. "I'm sorry for that."
"I wanted you to." He turned to face her and tilted her head so that he could look at her face. He didn't know how much she'd drank but she looked pretty healthy. He must have been frowning because Kristen's eyebrows knitted together.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"How much blood did you take from me?"
Kristen thought for a moment but she still continued to frown. "Hardly anything. Not enough to completely fill my hunger by a long shot."
Matt's brain was ticking about a hundred miles an hour as he processed what she was saying. Slowly, his eyes cleared and he stared at her, shocked. "You look like you've drank a horse dry."
"But..." Kristen moved away from Matt and pressed herself almost against the mirror, staring at her eyes. There was no hint of blueness. She was perfectly pale white. She turned to look back at Matt again, her mouth slightly open in concentration from thinking too hard.
"I swear I hardly took anything." She whispered, her fingers reaching up to cover her mouth.
"I wasn't tired afterwards. I knew you hadn't. I think it's my blood."
Kristen studied his face, not quite understanding.
Matt smoothed her frown out of her forehead. "I'm a werewolf remember? We have different blood in our system. Maybe it fills you more than normal human blood."
"But...that means...I don't need to kill people." She looked up and, if she was alive, Matt knew she'd be crying. "Oh Matt, that's great news! I don't need to kill people. I just need a bit of your blood!"
Though he was happy and everything, he didn't exactly want to be a pin cushion. "How often would it have to be?" He murmured.
She froze in her excitement, registering what was going through his head, and sighed sadly. "Probably every other day. I don't know. I dont know how long your blood will sustain me for."
Matt nodded and everything suddenly went quiet.
Kristen lowered her gaze and nibbled on her lip.
"Let's just see how long you last before you need it again." He murmured quietly and Kristen nodded before bounding towards the door.
They both slowly left the house and began to walk to class, a soft but comfortable silence enveloping them. They were both probably thinking the same thing. How were they going to react in college? Were they going to ignore each other or act like a couple? Matt wasn't too sure what the hell they were right now but he didn't want to push it too far. He didn't want to make it completely obvious that they'd been messing about but he also didn't want anyone hanging off Kristen's arm like Aaron had been doing.
He wasn't jealous or anything.
He just didn't like to share.
Kristen was his friend. Well...she was more than a friend but she wasn't his girlfriend.
Either way, he didn't want someone else wiping their scent on her.
Thankfully, she was wearing his top so she'd smell just like him.
Not like anyone else would notice. They didn't have a strong sense of smell like he did. Regardless, he still liked the fact that he had his scent on her for now.
When they got to college, Matt leaned against the window sill and Kristen copied, biting her lip in apprehension. He wanted to pull her lip from her teeth but thought better of it. Making it official with Kristen would be consequential. She wouldn't have many friends to turn to. Matt was too scary for everyone else to handle.
"Oh." Kristen said and Matt's eyes quickly jumped onto her as she talked. "When you left early yesterday you left your drawing."
"Drawing?" He frowned as he watched her shuffling around in her bag, obviously looking for something.
"Yeah. You drew this but then you just left it. I didn't know if you wanted it." She pulled out a folded piece of paper and Matt took it, curiously opening it around the edges.
It was a woodland scenery but there were two shadows. It wasn't clear who they were but they were sat on a small picnic blanket, staring at each other, their knees knocking against each other. It was definitely a boy and a girl but it was just their shadows, besides their glowing white eyes.
"I didn't realise I'd drawn anything." He murmured before pushing the picture into his pocket. "Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"Hey losers! How are the little lovers doing today? Still as freaky as ever, I see." A voice sneered and Matt growled atuomatically, glaring at Laura, who casually walked past, her arm around yet another boy, his eyes shining with fear but amusement.
"Go away Laura. No one wants your skanky company. I don't want to catch anything." Kristen turned her nose up at Laura and Matt coughed in surprise, half choking on air.
Where the hell had that come from?!
"What did you just say?"
"Deaf as well as contagious. You're not doing well, are you? I think you need to seriously see a doctor."
"You - " Laura almost launched for Kristen but the boy held her back and she struggled in his arms, kicking and failing. "I don't know what I saw in you Kristen! You're just as much of a freak as your murderer!"
Matt gripped his fists and pressed them against the wall to stop from lashing out. Kristen, however, flashed her eyes and stepped closer to Laura. "I'd rather be a freak than a walking disease."
Laura screached and tried to launch herself again, getting partly free and she kicked off from the boy's leg, causing him to groan. "I'll get you, Kristen! You'll be an outcast just like your pet!"
Matt shook and stepped forwards before he realised what he was doing. Kristen saw, though, and grabbed his arm, shooting ice down his veins. He relaxed slightly. He couldn't change in the building, not now.
"I hope he kills you too you little bitch." Laura snarled and, before the boy could stop her, she lashed out and almost slapped Kristen in the face.
Matt intinctively pulled Kristen behind him, still shaking as he growled under his breath. "You touch her one more time and I'll rip your head from your shoulders before you even realise that I've touched you. Get lost and leave us alone."
Laura sneered and the boy gently let go of her. She stepped closer and her eyes were like fire. "You dont scare me, Matt. You're just pathetic..."
Matt grabbed Laura's arm and, before she even opened her mouth, he threw her down the hall. She flew across her back and bashed into several people as she skidded across the floor. Everyone stopped their conversation and went silent as they looked from Laura to Matt and back again, their eyes wide.
Matt could vaguely feel someone gripping his arm as Laura went bright red with embarrassment and shock. The boy stood there stunned, his legs turned as if ready to run. As Laura screamed, Matt was quickly dragged down the hall and out of sight, Kristen digging her nails into his forearm as she pulled him away.
Matt didn't care though.
He was just glad that he could see Laura on the floor in a cloud of fury.
It was enough to make his day.

Hope you enjoy their little couple moment! There's still a bit left to go but I might finish it soon!
