Chapter 26 - Classroom Banter
Matt's Story [COMPLETED]
So I'm suddenly more preoccupied uploading instead of revising. Priorities much. OH WELL
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Matt didn't find Kristen.
He was partly glad but partly furious. He didn't want to hurt her but at the same time he wanted to rip her head off.
His head said one thing but something else kept dragging him in the opposite direction.
He didn't need this mess right now.
His heart felt as if it had snapped.
He'd shown her Aimee's room and she'd lied to him the whole time. He didn't know her at all.
In fact, he wasn't sure whether he knew anything for certain about Kristen besides the fact that she was a blood sucking leech. He should have known that she was different.
He was a werewolf for god's sake.
Of course there'd be vampires and fray and god knows what else wandering the earth. He certainly wasn't going to take the chance anymore. He wasn't going to trust anyone.
For the first time in over a year, he locked his door once he'd turned back human.
Getting up in the morning had been draining. He didn't want to go to college in the fear of bumping into Kristen but at the same time he didn't want to stay at home, driving himself insane over the boredom.
In the end, he made the choice to get dressed into a tight grey top with dark denim jeans and the leather jacket. He even ignored his coffee shop.
He wanted to be left alone today.
Especially from a dark murderer.
He got to college quicker than he expected and pressed himself into the bench, slamming his bag next to him before pulling out his notepad. He ripped the pencil across the paper without even thinking about it and scribbled in dark shapes. After a moment, he looked down and saw that he'd sketched a vampire girl, snarling. However, he'd only sketched in the shadows so the image played with Matt's eyes the more he stared at it.
He quickly slammed the notepad shut and stromed into the corridor, pushing the door so hard that the glass cracked inside it. Moving his fingers over the window sill, he twitched awkwardly, waiting until he saw that pretty face come through the doorway.
It never happened.
He waited until the bell was about to go before he went to class, his body relaxing. He didn't have to worry about her for now. It was a tightened strain off his shoulders but he was still disappointed. He didn't know what he would have done if she had come in but he was sure that it was for the best, regardless.
He thought wrong.
She sat in her usual seat, just in front of his own, her eyes boring through him as he stepped into the classroom and noticed her. He froze in the middle of the doorway, catching glances, but he couldn't stop staring at her.
1. She'd got in without him even noticing her.
2. Now he couldn't even pin her down and kill her.
There were too many witnesses for him to even mutter a word to her. Slowly, annoyingly, he made his way to his seat, brushing past her as he slammed himself into the chair, receiving glances from the other students with worried expressions plastered on their faces.
He'd been quite mellow since Kristen had started, but now he was back, and they definitely noticed.
He growled under his breath and saw Kristen twitch her head due to the noise. His mouth pulled up in half a grimance as he breathed out another growl, his breath dancing across the back of her shoulders, causing her to shiver.
"I'm going to kill you." He whispered quietly as he sat back in his chair, knowing full well that she could hear him.
In response, she froze and pulled her chair closer to her desk, her head bowing.
Matt's eyes flashed as he studied her back, his glare boring into the back of her head. "I'll wait." He snarled before he slammed his fist against the desk, allowing a certain amount of people to turn around and watch with wide eyes, Kristen cringing into her own table.
The lesson went by uncomfortably. He could see Kristen shrinking closer into her seat the closer lunch came. She was very well aware of the fact that she was in trouble. Her smell was stronger than usual and it was probably due to fear.
She was afraid... and he enjoyed it.
As soon as the bell went, Matt stood up and grabbed Kristen's forearm as she tried to get away, freezing her instantly. Other's got the hint as everyone quickly exited the room, leaving them on their own.
Still, she didn't move, through he could feel the tension in her body through his iron grip.
He dragged her up the steps and into the back of the room, pushing her against the wall so that he could pin her in place and breathe into her face. He could already see the smoke radiating off her like a protective barrier.
Matt snarled but stayed in control. He didn't want to turn. He was sure that she didn't want him to turn either.
"How dare you show your face." He spat as he stood, chest to chest, nose to nose against her, wafting his breath over her skin, causing her to shiver involuntarily.
"Please." She whispered as she lifted her hand carefully.
Matt snarled and she froze in place. "How dare you show your face again as if everything is fine. Why are you here?!"
She flinched and shrunk down the wall but Matt, ignoring the argument in his head, pressed his fingers against her neck and lifted her upwards, squeezing.
Her fangs extracted and she hissed in defence. "I live here."
"No you dont. You're dead. WHY ARE YOU HERE?!" He squeezed tighter and her fangs lengthened. Matt growled at the sight. It was disgusting. "You have no right to be here and kill my people."
"Your people?" She laughed bitterly. Matt felt his lips curl as he began to show his teeth. "Your people dont even like you. They dont care. They dont want you to be here. They're all scared of you. Why are YOU here, Matt?"
Matt pressed his face close to hers, ignoring his speeding heartbeat. "I protect them. I save them from monsters like you."
"Monsters like me? Look at yourself." She hissed through her fangs and Matt bashed her against the wall roughly. She flung her head into the brick, wincing as she cracked the paper with her skull. Once she realised what had happened, she blinked widely before narrowing her eyes and glaring at Matt with hatred. "I'm not the only monster in this town."
"At least I don't go round killing people." He said through gritted teeth.
Kristen blew out her raspberry breath and Matt scrunched his nose up, trying to be repulsed by it. "I kill to survive. If I didn't I would die. I don't like doing it!"
"Why don't you just leave and bother someone else?! Leave this place! Get your own town! Leave me and these people alone! I don't need you making it difficult for me!" He slammed her against the wall again, his fingers digging under her jaw bone.
She clicked it around his fingers and licked her lips. "I like it here, okay? This is the only place I've ever felt even slightly normal!"
"You're not normal, Kristen! you're a freak of nature! You're a monster! You're never going to be normal! At least I can accept that!" He pressed harder into her neck and felt his fingers enter her skin. She snarled but no blood dribbled down her neck and it just made Matt feel worse. She really was dead. "You need to leave. You're drawing too much attention. The locals cant just ignore murders in a small town like this, so either kill yourself or get lost because no one wants you here!"
Kristen froze and her eyes widened. She stared at Matt as if looking at him for the first time, watching his face twist and turn with hurt and hatred. "You weren't thinking that yesterday, Matt. You wanted me and you know it." She whispered.
"Why would I want a blood sucking murderer?" He muttered and Kristen gasped, her arms going limp. Matt slammed his hand against the side of her head but this time she didn't even twitch, looking down at the floor almost in shame. "If I were you, I'd get out of here because I cant bear to even look at you. I dont even want to touch you." He dropped his hand from her neck and shook it as if proving a point, shaking the 'dirt' off his fingers. "You disgust me." He whispered before he stepped backwards away from her.
"Matt please. It's not my fault. Just listen to what I have to say." She whispered, but it was only half hearted. A choked breath escaped her lips, stunning Matt, almost making him want to apologise and wrap his arms around her. However, he stayed strong and glared as much as he could, trying not to show his emotions. "If I wasn't a vampire, would you have been with me?" She looked up at him and the look in her eyes made Matt want to stab himself in the eye with a fork for being so hateful.
He was only protecting himself from his own pain.
He took a breath and lied through his teeth. "I never wanted to be with you."
"Matt..."
"Just go away. Leave. I don't want to see you again." He turned his back on her and began walking down the steps towards the door.
It took only a moment before she blocked his path, whizzing in front of him. His eyes flashed danger but she ignored it as she gripped his face so hard that he couldnt pull away immediately. "You and I both know that isn't true and I know why you're lying. You dont trust me. I understand that. I get it. You let me in and I never did the same. I had my reasons but I know it was wrong. I should have told you." Matt tried to pull away but she gripped him harder, holding him in place. "You say you never felt anything for me, that you dont feel anything for me, yet your heart beats so fast whenever I'm around you. You cant hide that from me, Matt. You cant teach your heart to lie. Even now it's racing."
"I want to kill you." He muttered, as if it explained everything.
"That may be so right now," She murmured under her breath, "But I know you feel something for me and you're scared of it. You're running away, pushing me away, just like you pushed everyone else..."
"Let go of me."
"...Well I'm not letting you push me away, Matt. I'm not leaving. I'm sorry if I've made living in this town uncomfortable so I'll go elsewhere to feed, but I'm not going to be one of those people that leaves whenever things go wrong."
He frowned and glared at her down his nose. "What's your problem?!"
"What?" She looked up with wide eyes and stepped backwards slightly.
"You. What. Is. Your. Problem? Why is it always about you? Why is everything always about you?! So you can be popular if you wanted to be. So you can grab any guy you want. So you can hide yourself and live a normal life. So you're pretty and smart. Not everything is about you, Kristen! I have bigger problems than having to deal with yours! At least you have people you can depend on. At least you have people who will give you a chance! I'm not like you! I'm NEVER going to be like you. Stop trying to make me something I'm not!
"I'm going to grow up alone. I'm going to keep the town safe and lead a simple life, no girls, no complications, no kids or stupid families." He moved into Kristen's face and stared. "I'm certainly not going to create a happy family with YOU."
He dragged his face away from her fingers and moved towards the door, but she jumped in front of him again. He growled loudly, almost howling, and gripped her shoulders as if to move her. She dropped herself like a lead balloon, however, and he struggled to even push her to the side. She glared, pulling his eyes to hers. "I'm. Not. Leaving. I'm not going anywhere until you let me explain."
"Explain WHAT?!" He almost screamed, shaking her roughly in frustration, watching as her head banged backwards and forwards. It would have broken someone's neck if it had been someone alive. He was just too forceful.
With these thoughts going through his head, he didnt expect Kristen to slam him into the wall, pinning him with her legs and arms as he beared his teeth at her in fury. "You're going to listen to me whether you like it or not. You can kill me afterwards for all I care. Just hear me out." She stroked the side of his face softly with the back of her hand and he snapped at her with his jaw, making her pull her hand back quickly.
"I'll have great pleasure in pulling your head from your shoulders." He whispered with venom as he pushed his head to lean it against hers.
"I look forward to it." She replied and cocked a smile. "You're handsome when you're angry."
"Don't push me, Kristen." Matt narrowed his eyes and Kristen shook her head almost playfully.
"I will push you however I feel like it." She whispered and leaned forwards so that her lips were next to his ear. Her breath blew of his neck and he naturally tingled with the sensation. "I've always wondered what it would be like to taste werewolf blood." She pressed her lips against his throat.
Matt roared and slammed her backwards onto the floor, landing on top of her, forgetting where he was. He only just started to process his surroundings. It was a wonder why no one had come in to see what the noise was. He bashed her wrists against the floor and her fangs appeared again, piercing her bottom lip, leaving a trail of blood out of the corner of her lips and across her marble white skin.
"That may be the last thing you'll ever taste, vampire. I'm not warning you twice." He gripped her hair and pulled, causing Kristen's neck to click as she gasped in shock, pushing at his chest. He dragged her face up to his and cupped her chin with one hand. "You so much as touch my neck and you'll be going to hell."
"I've already got my ticket. That threat doesn't scare me."
"I'm sure you don't want to be upgraded to first class." He yanked on her hair again as he stood up and Kristen hissed through her teeth as she continued to lie on the floor. "I'll give you ten minutes of my time after class. After that, get the hell out of my town and get the hell out of my life before I end your nasty existence."
He stamped on her ankle, cracking it, and she groaned in pain before he turned on his heel and pushed himself out of the clasroom door, leaving her sprawled against the desk as her ankle clicked itself back into place, a snarl on her lips, fury in her eyes.
Matt couldn't wait until the end of the day.
Stupid blood sucker, he thought as he joined the line for his daily pounds of meat, grinning inwardly.
This was going to be an interesting night.

Hope you like their little fight! I'll try and keep the chapters interesting as I go along but please leave comments if you think I should add anything else! I'm literally writing as I think so it might be a bit long winded!
Thanks for reading!
