----------------------------------------

What was he doing?

Was he insane?

Had he finally lost the plot?

Here he was, walking along in wolf form with a Kristen and he was about to go home.

Home. With Kristen. As a wolf. To his house.

Alone.

Yep, he had definitely lost it.

There was nothing he could do now, though. With her hand threaded into the fur at the back of his neck and her ribs pushing against his shoulderblades, he couldn't even imagine turning her away now.

They weren't even far from his house. He didn't need to slow down in order for her to keep up. Luckily she was a quick walker and kept up the pace with ease. As they progressed down the roads, Kristen continued to look around as if she'd never seen the street at night before. He was sure that she'd looked around at the beginning of her moving into the area but obviously she didn't go through the place thoroughly enough if she never came down these roads.

It was dark but people still littered the pavements. Drunkards or families slowly made their way home from a busy evening out and leisurely took their time doing so. Luckily, Matt was able to crouch down low enough to not be noticed too much. He still attracted attention but, with Kristen by his side, the wall by his other, he was able to half shrink into the shadows and half look like a decent, if not huge, house dog.

As they made it onto his street, he looked up at Kristen and nuzzled her side slightly. She had been daydreaming so the movement startled her, but it caught her attention and she studied the area, her eyes suddenly popping wide. "Hey, I know this place. Do you live around here?"

Matt gave a whine in agreement and slowed down his walking. He really didn't know what was going through his mind. Though he knew it was a bad idea, he couldn't stop himself from propelling his way forwards towards his house.

Surely she'd figured it out by now. Maybe she just thought he was a dog...

Matt slowed to a stop just outside his house and took a deep breath. He was being absolutely ridiculously stupid but he couldn't stop. He'd already brought her to his house. The damage was done.

Kristen turned, wondering why the dog had stopped walking and looked up at the house they had stopped at, her eyebrows frowning in calculated frustration. She looked from Matt to the house and then pointed, as if it wasn't obvious enough. "Do you live here? But I thought..."

She didn't finish her sentence. Instead, she walked up to the front door and knocked. When there was no answer, she pushed slightly on the door and it opened. Matt never really was afraid of someone robbing him whilst he was out. He would have been able to track them down in a heartbeat anyway.

Matt followed her as Kristen stepped into the house and made her way immediately into the living room. Her eyes scanned the sofa and then the TV before finally the stairs and the walls. Watching her eyes, Matt swallowed and jumped on the sofa, pushing his head into the arm of it.

"Are you sure this is your house?" Kristen asked as she wandered into the kitchen then back out of it. "I'm so confused. I thought this was someone..." She spotted a picture frame by the stairs and picked it up.

Matt winced.

Slowly, Kristen put her hand to her mouth and then lowered it again, staring at the younger version of Matt, cuddling his little sister, his parents in the background. That had been a brilliant day at the park. Matt whined in loss and pain.

Due to the noise, Kristen looked up and studied Matt carefully, placing the frame down and stepping closer to him so that she was face to face with him. "Matt is your owner? But..." Kristen studied Matt's rounded eyes and then stood up properly and looked around again.

She obviously hadn't put two and two together. "Matt?! Matt are you in?!" She shouted loudly and walked around the bottom floor of the house. Matt groaned and buried his head in his paws. He didn't want to scare her but it was the only way that she was going to understand.

Kristen came back and sat next to Matt's tail, pushing it to the side of her. "That's strange. I could have sworn he would have been in..." She murmured, mostly to herself, then smiled at Matt's muzzle as he looked at her, tilting her head. "You're a very pretty dog, you know?"

Matt grunted, shook his head and flapped his tail so that it brushed her arm.

She giggled. "No wonder Matt chose you. You're just like him. Do you know where he is?"

She scratched Matt's ear and he sighed, leaning his face against her lap. If he had done this as a human, he would have definitely been embarrassed, but this was the natural actions of a dog and he wanted to stick to it, knowing that he wouldnt ever be able to react like this around her again.

"Good boy. I wish Matt was as friendly as you were." She sighed and Matt's ears pricked up slightly.

He could feel a confession coming on.

"I really like him you know?"

Told you.

"I mean, he's so different. He's not like everyone else. He pushes everyone away but I can tell that he's lonely. He doesn't want to be that way around people. Something awful must have happened. I know what happened to his family. There's so many rumours going round that he killed them, you know?"

Matt whined and shut his eyes tightly. He didn't want to think about his family right now. Poor little Aimee...

"I don't think he did it though. He's too senstive. He doesn't seem like the type. I think it was an accident. I think whatever happened was an accident and it wasn't his fault." Kristen looked towards Matt and Matt opened his eyes slightly. "I think something happened which was out of his control. A freak accident or something. It could happen. Were you there, doggy? You really are huge. What kind of breed even are you?"

Matt closed his eyes shut again and whimpered. He didn't know how long he had left until he changed but he'd have to go upstairs at some point to get in his bath. Kristen leaned into him and pushed her head into his side, causing Matt to tremble slightly at her soft touch. She was so gentle it was almost scary.

"Do you think Matt would mind if I stayed until he got back? He couldn't have gone far, right? Who goes out at this time?" Kristen looked at the clock and sighed. "I dont know. He doesn't like hanging out with me much. He doesn't like being close to anyone. I thought I was getting through to him but maybe I'm just wasting my time. Oh I wish you could answer me, doggy. I feel like such an idiot talking to you." Kristen chuckled and patted Matt's paws as he dangled then across her lap and nuzzled into her chin.

After a few minutes, Kristen leaned into Matt's side and subconsciously started kneading his skin in his neck. Matt was in heaven but he knew he had to move. He had to go upstairs very soon. He didn't want to make any more mess than necessary.

Slowly, Matt removed himself from Kristen's touch and jumped off of the sofa, slowly walking towards the stairs before turning back to look at her.

Kristen stood up too and watched him as he put a paw on the bottom stair and shook his body. "Where are you off to now, doggy? Are you going to show me something else?"

Oh you have no idea, Matt thought as he slowly made himself go up the stairs. He could already feel the creak in his back as the transformation started to show. Kristen followed him as he made his way onto the landing and into the bathroom.

Staring at the bathtub made Matt pause. He wasn't sure if he would be able to control himself as he was turning. He'd never turned back in front of someone before. He'd only turned into the wolf with someone around.

As Kristen made her way into the bathroom, she frowned at the filled bathtub. "What's this? Doggy, why is the bath full? Surely Matt wouldn't have left the bath like this." She moved forwards to unplug the tub but Matt stood in front of her, stopping her.

She frowned more.

He whined and she stepped backwards as Matt stepped towards the tub, his eyes burning from the horrible sensation that was going through his spine. He slowly stepped into the bath tub.

Please, Kristen, don't hate me, Matt thought desperately as he whined in pain and lay in the water, wincing.

"Hey! What are you doing? What's wrong? What are..." Kristen stopped and her eyes widened as she backed into the doorframe and stood glued to the floor.

Matt groaned and curled in on himself, causing the water to swish around his feet. She had to see this. She had to understand why he was the way he was.

Kristen, I'm so sorry.

Matt howled in agony as his claws fell off and his fur started to shed. His skin ripped across his arms and along his back and he collapsed heavily into the bath as the water stained red with blood and skin, the water pushing up against the sides.

He howled again, unable to see if Kristen was still there, as his body cracked in several places and joined back together. Another rip tore through his legs as furry paws turned into large men feet. Matt shivered and crumpled into the side of the bath as his howl turned into a scream of pure torture.

Panting, after a few moments, waiting for the pain to subside, Matt dunked his naked body back into the blood filled bath before pulling out the plug, turning on the shower head in order to remove the droplets of blood still on his face.

After all of this was done, he risked glancing at the door frame.

Kristen hadn't moved. She'd stayed and stared with her eyes wide open and her hand covering her mouth to stop her from screaming. She was frozen like a deer in headlights. Her other hand shook terribly next to her hip as she stared at him.

Matt quickly turned off the shower head, grabbed the towel right next to him and stepped slowly out of the bath, quickly shoving on the top which was hung on the radiator. Only then did he fully focus on Kristen, his face sad and wary.

"Kristen." He panted and slowly moved his hand towards her.

She didn't move.

"Kristen. Please don't scream. I had to show you. You had to understand why I couldn't be close to you." He shuffled closer to her but still she didn't move. She didn't even blink. He could almost see the cogs in her head going into overdrive trying to comprehend his words. "Kristen, this is why I can't be with you. I'm dangerous. I'm a hideous monster." His voice cracked as he reached further, almost within reaching distance, though it was only half hearted.

He knew that she was going to run once it processed in her brain.

"Please don't tell anyone, Kristen, I beg you. Please." He whimpered and stepped slightly closer.

His words seemed to wake her up and she took in a shaky breath, looking up and down at the boy with a t-shirt on and nothing but a towel around his waist. If it was any other situation, he had a feeling that she would have blushed. However, given the circumstances, he was amazed that she hadn't bolted yet.

She swallowed the large lump in her throat and slowly lowered her hand from her face, watching Matt's eyes all the way. He stopped moving and stood there with his hand outstretched, palms up towards her.

It took a few minutes before she even saw it. Her eyes flickered to his hand and then back to his face before she opened and closed her mouth like a fish. "A...a...i...a..." Kristen struggled and her eyes rolled.

"Kristen, I'm going to move towards you now, okay? I wont attack you." Matt stepped forwards and closed the small gap between them before Kristen had a chance to respond.

She stared up at him and closed her mouth, studying him with new eyes. "H...how..."

"I'll explain everything once we're downstairs. I told you that I was dangerous." Matt grumbled and his face fell for a moment, losing his composure.

It wasn't until he felt pressure on his hand did he look up. Kristen still stared at him but her fingers were wrapped in his, squeezing tightly.

Matt licked his lips nervously and came forwards, continuing to hold her hand as he leaned close to her face. It shocked him that she still didn't move. "I told you it was better we weren't friends."

Kristen licked her lips also but this time brought her free hand to the side of Matt's face, caressing his cheek softly. "Matt..."

He nodded and closed her eyes as she explored his face with her fingers, skimming her thumb across his lips so that his mouth parted slightly. This was a massive risk but he stupidily trusted her.  He was glad that she knew.

"How...Matt. It's not possible." She whispered and he opened his eyes to see her almost nose to nose with him. He froze but didn't move, letting her breathe in his face softly. "You're a..."

"A werewolf." He whispered back and he felt her tighten her grip on him.

"You're beautiful." She murmured and ran her fingers through Matt's hair, causing him to shiver and moan in pleasure.

"Please. It's already hard enough." He said quietly and removed her hands, regrettably letting her go. "Go downstairs and I'll explain."

"Matt." She looked into his eyes as he turned to her and she smiled, rubbing her fingers across the sides of his eyes where it creased from past laughter.

He stared back at her.

"Thank you."
