Chapter 596
Meet My Brothers
Connor nodded, chiming in, âExactly. We love Mia dearly, and she deserves to spend the rest of her life
in bliss with the Lane family.â
A middleâaged woman pried. âIs Mia never going to marry again?â
Eva replied calmly, âShe can if she wants to, but weâre planning to have the groom marry into our
family.â
Her statement rendered everyone speechless. The Barrett family was the most prominent family in
Bern City, and it wasnât likely for Timothy to marry into the brideâs family. Even Sharonâs intrigue was
dampened despite her fascination with the idea of Mia remarrying Timothy earlier.
Mia stood her ground. She was well aware that those meddlesome ladies were anticipating her
reaction when they deliberately brought up the topic of her remarrying Timothy. They knew she was the
daughter of the Lane family. Fortunately, her family sided with her. They rebuked them swiftly, and Eva
stood up for her. She wasnât surprised when she spotted the tension on Sharonâs face, knowing how
much Sharon cared for her daughterâinâlawâs status. The only thing that stopped her from disagreeing
with the remarry was her status as a
Lane.
Well, this was refreshing for Mia. She didnât see why it was compulsory for women to marry. Why did
she have to remarry her exâhusband? Who set these rules?
Laura didnât seem astounded. She shot a suggestive glance at Timothy, who stood at the back. âTim,
what are you waiting for? Didnât you prepare a gift for Mia? Hurry up and show her.â
Mia was startled. She didnât expect Timothy to prepare a gift for her. Soon, Kaleb appeared with a gift
box, and Sharonâs expression changed drastically. âThis? Are you sure youâve got the right one?â
Shelly gasped, âThis canât be!â
Miaâs curiosity for the box grew when she saw how flabbergasted they both looked. What was in it?
With the box in his hand, Timothy strode toward her. âMia, I havenât been doing my best in the past
three yearsââ
âMr. Barrett, I donât think you have to apologize. Both of you are no longer a
legal couple, after all. Itâs quite inappropriate to bring up the past now when everyoneâs clearly enjoying
themselves, donât you think so?â Connor quipped. Dominic added coldly, âTimothy, are you trying to
coerce Mia into forgiving you with a public apology?â
Flustered, Sharon rambled, âOf course not! Tim, since they donât need it, hurry up and put it away.â
Anxiety stewed in her stomach as her gaze remained fixated on the box. This was a piece of jewelry
she had coveted for years. How could he just give it to Mia? Was he out of his mind?
Mia took a deep breath, and glanced up at Timothy. âDominicâs right. Letâs leave our past behind us.
Weâre here today to celebrate Grandma Lauraâs recovery, not this.â
.
Timothy dropped his gaze, picking up the calmness in her eyes. He could no longer see the infatuated
look in her eyes. The spark she used to have in them vanished entirely. He grimaced, suddenly
painfully aware of the ache in his heart. He swallowed. âIn that case, take this,â he said, opening the
box.
