Chapter 523
Meet My Brothers
Observing Karenâs envious expression, Mia purposefully turned to Patricia and suggested, âYou know,
since weâre going out for dinner tonight, why donât you wear the bracelet? Itâs been a while since you
Wore II.â
Patricia chuckled. âI work at the supermarket most of the time, so thereâs hardly any chance to wear it.
Plus, Iâd be devastated if it were to get scratched or damaged.â
âWell, since weâre dining out today and youâre not on duty, why not wear it now? Itâs the perfect
occasion.â
Mia suggested.
âYes, go ahead, put it on. Let everyone admire the gift Mia gave you,â Eva chimed in.
Unable to resist their persistence, Patricia eventually relented and headed to the bedroom to retrieve
the
bracelet.
Mia shared a knowing look with Eva, who had just picked up on her subtle signal.
Shortly after, Patricia emerged wearing the diamond bracelet. Karen couldnât help but gaze at it.
enviously. âSo, this is Miaâs purchase. Itâs quite lovely and bears a resemblance to my bracelet,â Eva
said.
Patricia smiled and glanced over. âReally? Thatâs quite a coincidence. Iâm not accustomed to wearing
jewelry most of the time. I Initially declined Miaâs offer to purchase it, but she insisted on buying such
an
extravagant gift.â
Mia swiftly interjected, âAunt Patricia, these bracelets arenât extravagant at all. With my brotherâs
business flourishing, weâre not lacking in funds. Iâll get you a bracelet ten times pricier in the future.â
Edna promptly inquired, âHow much did this bracelet cost?â
Patricia answered, âIt was around ten thousand dollars, I believe.â
Karen immediately clicked her tongue twice. âTen thousand dollars? You canât find a bracelet with this
quality of color and luster at that price unless itâs a counterfelt.â
Miaâs smile widened. âAunt Karen, you have a sharp eye. Actually, this bracelet was purchased for 100
thousand dollars. I deliberately downplayed the price to put Aunt Patricia at ease, so she wouldnât feel
obligated to decline it.â
â100 thousand dollars?â Karen and Edna exchanged a startled glance.
In the next moment, Patricia hurriedly removed the bracelet. âThis bracelet is too precious to wear
12:
casually. What if something happens to it?â
*Aunt Patricia, please, just wear it. Iâve already assured you that money is not a concern.â Mia urged.
Eva chimed in, âExactly. Miaâs monthly allowance alone exceeds the cost of this bracelet. Itâs a small
gesture. Come on, letâs go. Everyone is waiting downstairs. Itâs time to leave for dinner.â
With that Mia and Eva each took one of Patriciaâs arms and escorted her out of the room.
Karen and Edna were still a bit flustered, but seeing Mia and the others departing without summoning
them, they couldnât dwell on it much. They hastily followed, calling out. âMia!â
As Mia stepped into the elevator, Edna and Karen boldly caught up. Intentionally. Edna tapped her arm.
and said, âMia, you were walking so briskly. My old limbs could barely keep up with the pace.â
Karen persisted, âIsnât that true? Especially considering Ednaâs limited mobility; she came to this
hospital specifically for medical treatment. But now, with no other options, she can only depend on her
one
daughter.â
As Edna and Karen lamented, Mia remained unfazed, finding their distress somewhat amusing.
However, Patricia voiced her concern, âMom, did you remember to take the medication I sent you last
time? It was prescribed by a doctor at one of the major hospitals.â
âIâve been taking it, but it only eases the symptoms without addressing the underlying cause. Plus, this
medication is quite expensive, isnât it? If I have to keep using it, how will I manage the cost?â
âMom, if you run out, just inform me. Iâll purchase it for you,â Patricia reassured her.
Edna sighed deliberately. âBut if you were to relocate abroad to Nord City, it would be quite
inconvenient
for you to send me anything.â
Karen swiftly added, âExactly, international postage is extremely expensive. Itâs barely enough to cover
the medicationâs cost, making it hardly worthwhile.â
Mia suddenly glanced over. âHow do you know international postage is expensive?â
