Chapter 316
Meet My Brothers
Mia gently knocked on the door before stepping into the ward, a warm smile on her face.â Grandma,
Iâve come to see you.â
âMia, youâre here bright and early. Have you had breakfast?â
âIâve already eaten. Grandma, how are you feeling today?â
Mia noticed that Laura seemed to be in high spirits, indicating that her health was in good
condition.
Laura smiled, gently holding Miaâs hand.
âIâm doing well. You donât need to worry so much. Iâm still eagerly looking forward to your babyâs arrival.
In my younger years, I confronted numerous challenges. Can a minor issue like this really defeat me?â
With Laura discussing her babies, Mia couldnât help but feel guilty. Despite everyone thinking it was a
fabrication, only she knew that she was genuinely pregnant.
After a moment of contemplation, Mia took Lauraâs hand and gently rested it on her slightly bulging
belly. âGrandma, the baby is patiently waiting for you to recover.â
Laura glanced at Miaâs belly, her eyes slightly welling up. âThatâs fantastic. When the baby arrives, Iâll
have the chance to teach them, just as I did with Tim when he was little.â
âOkay, weâll be eagerly looking forward to it,â Mia said, subtly conveying to the twins in her belly to
anticipate Lauraâs safe return from the operating room.
At that moment, Laura shifted her gaze toward the door and called out, âTim, hurry over. I have
something to share with all of you.â
Mia turned to see Timothy entering through the doorway. Today, he appeared more casually dressed,
forsaking his usual dark suit. He seemed a bit less aloof and more like a refined young
gentleman.
Timothy approached the bedside. âGrandma, how about we discuss it after your surgery? There will be
plenty of time in the future.â
Mia added, âAbsolutely, Grandma. Thereâs no rush. Just relax and take it easy. Weâll be right outside,
keeping you company.â
At that instant, Sharon and Shelly stepped into the ward.
415 BONOS
Sharonâs expression darkened upon seeing Mia, but being mindful of Lauraâs surgery, she
restrained her emotions.
As long as Lauraâs operation went smoothly, she wouldnât have to concern herself with Mia any
longer.
It seemed like Timothyâs current wariness of Mla was driven by his concern for Laura, who was
scheduled for surgery.
Waving her hand, Laura said, âThere are certain matters I would like to address now. Otherwise, I
fear I wonât have the opportunity.
âTim, in the future, when Miaâs child is born, they will be the heir of the Barrett family.â
Miaâs expression grew uneasy upon hearing this. Why would Laura make such an arrangement?
Mia wasnât the only one feeling upset. Sharon seemed equally dissatisfied. âMrs. Barrett Senior,
deciding on the heir so early seems a bit impulsive, doesnât it?
âGiven the extensive nature of our familyâs business, if the selected heir lacks the required skills and
competence, what alternatives do we have?â
Sharon had more to address. If Maya were to marry Timothy in the future and have a child, would that
child be ineligible as heir to the Barrett family?
In such a circumstance, the Lane family might not consent to their marriage.
Besides, Miaâs pregnancy was fabricated, and Laura seemed to be taking it too seriously.
âI trust that Timâs child wonât be incompetent, and with Tim overseeing their upbringing into adulthood,
how could they possibly turn out to be a failure?â
After expressing her confidence, Laura handed a document to Timothy, âHere is the contract Iâve
drafted, outlining all the details related to you and Miaâs child as the future heir of our family. Please go
ahead and sign it.â
