Chapter 430
The First Heir
Had she been kidnapped?
The driver threw away his instant noodles and walked over with a baseball bat.
The sound of it against the floor triggered Marthaâs every nerve.
She yelled, âDonât kill me! Iâll give you money, Iâll give you money!â
However, when she saw the person after he got closer, she was completely stunned as if she had been
struck by lightning.
âYou!â Martha screamed in terror.
The driver in a black skintight outfit removed his cap and guffawed malevolently. He said, âAunt Martha,
I trust youâve been well since we last met. It looks like you still remember me.â
âJoel⦠Joel, did you get the wrong person? I asked you to teach Philip, that useless bum, a lesson.
Please let me go. My head hurts. Take me to the hospital now.â
Martha wailed. She was petrified.
Joel was only two steps away from her. He squatted down, and she could see that his face was so thin
he looked disfigured. His eyes were sunken, and he had dark eye circles. He looked like a ghost.
âShhh.â Joel lifted a finger in front of his cracked lips. He laughed sinisterly, âAunt Martha, I didnât get
the wrong person.â
Did not get the wrong person?
Martha was even more terrified. She sobbed and said, âJoel, what did I do?â
Joel chuckled coldly. He slapped her without warning, sending a few of Marthaâs teeth flying out in the
process. He said angrily, âYou donât know what youâve done? Do you know the reason Iâm like this is
because of you? Youâre also the reason the Harrises went bankrupt and the reason my uncle was
arrested!
âItâs gone! Everythingâs gone now! Itâs all because of your bullsh*t information, you old hag!â
Joel was yelling while being on the brink of insanity. Martha was trembling fiercely from terror. She
sobbed and said, âI-I donât know what youâre talking about? Joel, if itâs Aunt Marthaâs fault, Aunt Martha
will apologize to you. Please let me go.â
âLet you go?â
Joelâs eyes went wide as he looked at Martha eerily. He reached out his hand and grabbed Marthaâs
hair. He said deviously, âThen whoâs going to let the Harrises go?â
Martha was confused. She did not know what was happening.
Joel was too scary.
How could a person like this once be her ideal son-in-law?
âJoel, Joel, there must be a mistake. I really have no idea.â
Martha was terror-stricken. Her entire body was trembling.
âYou have no idea? Iâll beat you until you have an idea!â
Joel roared and got up. He kicked Martha a few times on her stomach, then grabbed the baseball bat
and started attacking Martha for as long as 20 minutes!
He finally stopped when Martha lay on the floor lifelessly.
âJ-Joel⦠Please stop. I was wrong⦠Helpâ¦â
Marthaâs entire body was in excruciating pain. It was as if her body was not hers.
It was so painful!
She felt like she was about to die.
âYou donât want to die? Okay, do something for me and Iâll promise not to kill you.â
Joel looked at the badly wounded Martha on the floor with an icy gaze.
Martha was like a dog on the brink of death. She got up and knelt on the floor as if she had seen a
glimpse of hope. She hugged Joelâs leg and begged. âI-Iâll do it. Iâll do it. Iâll do it, so please stop hurting
me.â
Then, Joel brought the badly wounded Martha to Longford Park.
Martha was limping the entire time. She was wearing a cap and face mask as she led Joel into the villa.
Looking at the extravagant First Palace, Joelâs hatred for Philip sky-rocketed.
âDamn you, Philip. Iâll get my revenge today! Iâll avenge the Harrises!
âIâll kill Wynn in front of you, then Iâll kill you!
âIâll run away once Iâm done!
âJoel Harris will never come back to Riverdale again!â
âCall Wynn. Tell her to come back.â
Joel sat on the sofa and ordered while eating grapes.
Martha was terrified. She shrunk herself in a corner and took out her phone to call Wynn with trembling
hands. âHello, Wynnie, come back for a bit. I⦠My head is hurting. I think itâs still not fully recovered
yet.â
Wynn was in the office. When she got Marthaâs call and heard her voice, she concluded that Martha
indeed sounded weak. She said anxiously, âAlright, Mom. Wait for me. Iâll come back now.â
âOkay.â
Martha replied, then said hurriedly, âRight, come back alone. Donât bring Philip.â
