AVERY

Justin laughed at her expression as she tried the wasabi at his favorite sushi place in March. Her skin turned an interesting shade of red as she chugged some water.

“I take it you don’t like wasabi,” Justin said, rubbing her leg while sitting next to her in the half-circle booth.

“Understatement of the year. I don’t mind the sushi, but you can keep the sauce crap,” Avery replied hoarsely, swallowing several times.

“I’m sorry, baby. I know you like spicy, so I thought you would like this,” Justin explained.

“Spicy is one thing, wasabi is a whole other thing,” Avery gasped after swallowing the water again.

Justin grinned as he popped another piece of sashimi in his mouth. Avery picked a piece of her rainbow roll and enjoyed it as they continued to share their meal.

While they were having dessert and sake, Justin grabbed her hand and dropped a little bomb on her.

“So Avery, baby, I have been trying to find a way to do this, trying to find the best time, but with us that doesn’t usually happen that easy,” Justin started.

Avery could tell that he was trying to say something important and worried a little that he was going to break it off.

“I know, our schedules don’t often line up well.” She chuckled uneasily.

Justin smiled and wove his fingers in hers. “I know. But I figured that this was as good a time as any.

“We have been dating for over two months, and I have to say that I have never been this happy before. You make me a better man, and I feel things for you that I have never felt before.”

Avery’s heart sped up. “I know. I feel the same way, Justin. I haven’t been this happy in a long time.”

Justin took a deep breath, then smiled nervously. “Avery, I love you.”

Avery stopped and looked at him with wide eyes, trying to absorb what he had just said.

“I mean it, Avery. I have fallen in love with you in a way that I never thought was possible for me and my life. You accept me in a way no other woman has and don’t ask me to change.

“You are unlike any other person I have met, and I am totally in love with you,” he finished.

Avery felt the tears sting her eyes that she was trying to hold back as he talked, and when he finished, she placed her hand on his cheek. “Justin, I love you too.”

His eyes went wide. “You do?”

She sniffed back the tears and smiled. “Yes. You make me so happy. I love you, Justin Mariner.”

JUSTIN

Justin felt his heart leap in his chest and leaned in to kiss her softly, feeling like they were sealing their relationship and taking it to the next level.

He pushed all the doubts away he had running in the back of his head that Mikey had planted.

Did it bother him that they still couldn’t find anything on her with a background check? Yes. But he knew she wasn’t a spy or setting him or the club up with law enforcement.

And the way he felt about her? That was something he wanted for the rest of his life.

Avery murmured against his lips, “Let’s go back to my place.”

Not needing a second invitation, he scooted around the table, pulling her with him, and they almost raced to his car in the rain that had decided to fall right before they left.

They pulled up and ran to her door, kissing as she tried unsuccessfully to get the door unlocked. He finally relented and pulled back, and she got the door open.

He picked her up again and carried her to the bedroom.

They undressed each other and were laying on top of the covers when Justin sat up and looked at her. “Remember those toys I bought with your fancy underwear?”

Avery nodded. “Why?”

Justin grinned wickedly. “Let’s try one out.”

Avery blushed, then pointed to the nightstand. Justin moved over and pulled out the vibrator. He moved back to her side. “Do you trust me?”

Avery nodded and watched as he laid down by her waist and kissed her abdomen and at the apex of her legs.

He turned the device on the lowest setting and gently ran it up and down the inside of her thighs, causing her to gasp at the sensation.

Avery couldn’t believe everything she had just experienced and was feeling in that moment.

Avery nodded in agreement and just laid there, unsure of what to do next.

Justin smiled weakly. “I haven’t either, and I love you too, baby. How about we just take a little nap, then process what happened?”

Avery agreed, then laid her head on Justin’s chest, more than she had ever been in her life, but completely in love.
