Chapter 26 of 45

Climb

Forgetting Sylva122 words~1 min read

Climbing this ladder,

The rungs never end.

Life goes on but

They still pretend

That there is more for me

When clearly there's not.

This is the end,

It's all that I've got.

Limbs are cold but

Lungs are breathing,

Blood is slow but

Heart's still beating.

Words are dry but

Mind's still thinking.

A rush of thoughts are all that's left.

Hands are stiff,

Fingers unfeeling.

Eyes are closed but

Mind's still reeling.

Words are shattered and

Hopes are fleeting.

A flicker of thoughts are all that's left.

Ears are empty but

Sound still survives.

Mind is empty but

Heart's still alive.

My heart is still beating,

Breath's still in my lungs.

Life is still fleeting.

I've run out of rungs.
