Chapter 244
The Spare Wife by Nadia Gordon
Chapter 244 Throw Out His Flowers âI donât mean to imply Eric likes you,â Luna said thoughtfully. âI thought about it last night. Something is weighing down on him.
Was he like that when you arrived? I felt so uneasy the entire evening.â
Abigail paused, thinking back to the night before. After carefully combing through her memories, she realized Luna was right.
However, the strange behavior only started after Ericâs phone call. Did that mean he was distracted because of Joshâs departure? âWhy did his strange behavior make you uncasy?â she asked, grinning as she read the documents.
âWe were going to have fun, but then... Yesterday was a grand celebration for L.Moon! I thought it would be a lively party.â Luna pouted. âIn the end, everyone was there. Look what they did! All of them were acting weird, so how can I fully let my hair down?â
âPerhaps itâs a family business? I know Josh. If heâs going back immediately, it must be because whateverâs happening in Capitalis is more important than our success,â Abigail tilted her head in thought. Was it because of the Pearsonsâ lost child? That had nothing to do with her, but he kept saying they were family, so she would subconsciously keep an ear out for news on the Pearsons. However, she merely spent a moment thinking about it before pushing those thoughts aside.
âTell the cleaners to throw out the flowers from Graham International.â In Abigailâs mind, that was more important than Joshâs business.
When Abigail arrived at L.Moon this morning, she saw the rows of flower bouquets by the entrance. All of them were labeled with Seanâs name, which she considered an eyesore.
Luna curtseyed. âYes, Ms. Alana. This one will get to it right away.â
Abigail laughed. âGo on, already.â
Later that afternoon, Sean drove past L.Moon and noticed the rows of flower bouquets by the entrance, but his flowers were conspicuously absent. It was clear that Abigail had discarded his gift.
While sitting in the car, Seanâs expression grew dark, and Cameron didnât dare to make a sound. After contemplating, Sean said in a low, foreboding voice, âLetâs go.â
Cameron immediately drove away from the scene.
Inside L.Moon, Abigail was having lunch with her assistant. When her assistant saw the car parked outside the entrance finally drive off, she commented, âMr. Graham is finally leaving.â
Flipping through a fashion magazine while enjoying her lunch, Abigail looked up in question. âHuh? Who?â
âSean Graham? When he sent the flowers, they needed several cars to deliver them. The shops opposite us were so jealous,â
the assistant said with a flair of exaggeration.
Abigail did not know why Sean was there. Unwittingly, she glanced out of the window.
âHeâs gone, Abigail. Donât you find that Mr. Graham pays too much attention to us? Someone might think itâs because a certain someone is here,â her assistant teased with a gossipy chuckle.
you âCan focus on your food? Stop talking about random people when youâre meant to be eating, okay?â Abigail rapped her knuckles against the back of her assistantâs head.
Sensing that Abigail did not like Sean, her assistant stuck her tongue out before falling silent.
Abigail thought everything would be over after the divorce. She had not expected Sean to haunt her instead. He was everywhere she went.
Once home, Abigail slid the bracelet Er gave her onto Analiseâs wrist.
âWhy did you buy this for no reason?â Analise asked, looking down at the ordinaryâlooking bracelet.
âWhen you press the button on this bead, youâll turn on the GPS tracker. If anything bad happens, you just need to press on that,â Abigail explained.
Analise was visibly awed.
âWho gave it to you? Eric?â Analise asked, admiring the bracelet.
âYes, but donât overthink it. Iâm his business partner. Itâs not strange for him to give us a few presents,â Abigail swiftly clarified, afraid Analise might misunderstand the situation.
âIsnât Eric good friends with Josh Pearson?â Analise abruptly asked.
Abigail subconsciously straightened up when she heard Joshâs name. âHow did you know?â
Iâm not a fool. Eric is a celebrity. I recognize him because the television always broadcasts his shows. Thatâs something he said in a variety show,â Analise slowly replied. She had nothing to do in the city except watch the television all day.
Abigail held Analiseâs hand. âGrandma...â
