Chapter 31
When love finds a way
Life returned to its usual rhythm after Diwali. The house no longer glowed with diyas, but the warmth lingered. I was back to school, handling lessons, and managing the kids, and Veer had returned to his bustling office life.
Everything seemed normal until she showed up again.
I was leaving school when I saw her standing by the gate, her arms crossed, a smug expression plastered across her face. Siya. The sight of her immediately set my nerves on edge.
"Really, Tara," she began, her tone dripping with mock pity as I approached. "Still playing the perfect wife, are we?"
I ignored her, hoping she'd leave, but she stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
"You know, you're not enough for Veeranshu," she said with a sharp edge. "You're just a phase, something to distract him. He still loves me."
Her words hit me like a slap, but I refused to let her see it. "You regret leaving him, don't you?" I said, meeting her gaze evenly.
"I do," she admitted, but her tone was venomous. "But that doesn't mean he doesn't still love me. You should leave while you can. Veer deserves better."
That was it. I saw red.
"You have no idea what Veer deserves," I snapped. "And it's certainly not someone like you. Maybe he loved you once, but now? You're nothing but a bitter memory he's moved past and stop coming after me it's pathetic you know and aren't you ashamed you yourself are married and you are coming after the wife of your ex boyfriend saying you regret leaving her husband."
Siya's face twisted with anger. "You're nothing, Tara," she spat. "A greedy little bitch who doesn't deserve the life you're living. Veer will see through you eventually."
''I don't think I am greedy from the looks of it , you seem to be the greedy one , carrying the Birkin bought by your husband's hard earned money while declaring you regret letting go of your ex , tell me does Rohan know of it'' I said going near her and placing my hand on her shoulder ''you know what you can scream about all you want but , you will always remain Veeranshu's little whore'' she gave me her smug smile while saying these demeaning words to me and before I realized what I was doing, my hand swung up and connected with her face.
The slap ignited a fury in Siya, and she lunged at me, pulling my hair as we stumbled into a full-blown fight. she pulled my hair , i pulled hers and that bitch dug her sharp witch like nails on my arms , this is sure gonna leave a mark
"behen ki kutti!" I shouted, clawing at her hand. "Tera muh tod dungi!"
We pulled and pushed, shouting insults at each other, by now people were gathered and they were taking fun in it just like I do watching a big boss fight and it went on until someone intervened and separated us. The police were called, and before I knew it, Siya and I were sitting in the station, glaring daggers at each other.
the female constable there looked at us and shouted ''yeh magaj maari krne ko sadak hi milti hai tum logon ko , tum dono ke pati ko bulaya hai jab tak nhi aate yahin rukna padega '' I looked down unbothered by her shouting because I was happy that I landed strong punches on that shit faced bitch
It wasn't long before Veer arrived, his expression stormy as he walked into the station. Behind him was Siya's husband, Rohan, his face twisted in irritation.
"What happened?" Veer demanded, his gaze shifting between Siya and me.
"She attacked me!" Siya shouted, pointing at me. "Your wife is crazy!"
''Mr. Mehra Rohan said, stepping forward, his tone condescending. "This is unacceptable behavior. Your wife has no right toâ"
"Be careful with your words," Veer said coldly, cutting him off. "Unless you want to regret them."
Rohan glared at him. "Don't forget who you're talking to, Veeranshu. I'll make sure she pays for this you can't do anything to me."
Veer pulled out his phone, dialing a number. His tone was sharp and precise as he spoke briefly. Moments later, Rohan's phone buzzed.
Rohan's expression darkened as he answered the call. "What do you mean the deal is canceled?" he hissed.
Veer watched him calmly, his arms crossed. "I suggest you keep your threats to yourself. You wouldn't want to lose more, would you? "
After the call ended, Siya turned to Veer, her tone turning pleading. "Veeranshu, this is insane. Tara isn't who you think she is. She's greedy, manipulative, andâ"
"Enough, Siya," Veer said sharply. "I could have left you to your own mess, but you keep pestering my wife. Consider this a lesson. Stay out of our lives, or next time, it won't just be your husband's deal that gets canceled."
His words left no room for argument, and Siya's face crumpled with defeat.
As we left the station, I was still fuming. "kutti kahin ki chudail , bhagwan kaare isko loose motion ho jaye aur tabhi iske ghar ka paani khatam ho jaaye " I muttered under my breath. "Uska muh tod dungi next time. Itni bakwass karti hai!"
Veer sighed, shaking his head as we got into the car. "Tara, calm down."
"I won't," I shot back. "How dare she say those things about you?"
Back at home, Veer took me to the bedroom and gently inspected the scratches on my arms and face. He dabbed antiseptic on a small cut, his expression a mix of concern and exasperation.
"You can't go around getting in fights , you could have been seriously injured ," he said, his tone firm.
"She deserved it," I said stubbornly.
He sighed, setting the first-aid kit aside. "Promise me you won't do something like this again."
I crossed my arms, refusing to meet his gaze. "If someone bad-mouths you, Veer, I won't just stand there. I'll do it again if I have to."
He shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips despite his frustration. "You're impossible," he said softly, pulling me into his arms.
"And you're worth fighting for," I murmured against his chest.
His arms tightened around me, and in that moment, I knew that no matter what challenges came our way, we'd face them together.
