Chapter 4,Part1
Mob Protagonist ~ Mob in the Novel But There is a Problem
Chapter 4.1. The Trigger Was An Event
I was 6 years old. I was now the oldest child in kindergarten. Of course, I went to kindergarten. But talking to a toddler is no fun. They are adorable, though. After all, the adult part of me has a hard time letting him take the option of playing with a kindergartner.
But for the sake of my family, I pretended to be a normal kindergartener so that the teacher wouldnât call my parents to tell them that that child was too mature and anxious.
I played with the children, takaoni, and built dunes. Iâm pretending to be a normal kindergartener. Lately, though, Iâd been a little depressed.
Because I had no idea how to practice. I was making sand piles in a depressed mood. Of course, I did not awaken to mana even if I ran a marathon or helped out at home. By the way, I did the marathon in the garden.
How could I awaken to mana? In the novel, everyone awakened their mana from the beginning. The protagonist, too. So there was no description of how to awaken. Even if there was, it is doubtful that I, as a mob member, would be able to awaken, but I would like to try it.
I danced, flipped, sang, and pinged, but to no avail. Itâs funny. My mom just added more photos to my album. Iâm a good girl, so my mom was happy when I did that. I donât know why she was so happy about it.
As I was thinking about it while making sand piles, a concerned voice called to me.
âMii-chan, whatâs wrong?â
It was the voice of a young girl, polite but with a hint of childishness. I looked up at the young girl standing across the sandhill from me.
âWell, is something wrong?â
âYeah, I usually mobilize everyone to make a diorama out of the sand, and we all start playing tag, so I prepare a lot of demons and play with them obsessively, but lately, only I and the dunes. I donât make them.â
I pretend to be a normal kindergarten girl, and always pretend to play like crazy. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âI have a problem. But I donât know how to solve it.â
Dismayed and depressed, I answer my friend honestly. Is it that weird? Itâs a life-altering situation, so I canât help it.
âWhat are you worried about? Is it that you donât get enough snacks or do you want to play more?â
âWell, itâs a secret.â
I give her a gentle smile to cover it with a tee-hee and start making sand piles again. My friends look at me with concern, but itâs not the kind of worry that kindergarteners come up with.
She stares at me, so I give her another smile to fool her. On the other side of the room, playing together and making sand piles are Teijou Yamiyo.
She has a good name. I am not prejudiced about her name. Iâm just a mob guy who has entered a novel. I suspect that the characters with cool names are the ones who appear in the novel.
But in this novel, even mob characters have cool names, so itâs hard to judge.
Teijou Yamiyo is a young girl who looks cute, or like she could be beautiful. She wears her shiny black hair in pigtails that are as black as raven feathers, beautiful eyes like black diamonds, and a face that, despite her young age, makes you think that she will become a beauty in the future. Her tone of voice is that of a polite young lady, and I heard once that she is the eldest daughter of the Marquis of Teijou.
She is full of attributes. I thought she was one of the heroines who would be the heroâs companion, but I was wrong. A beautiful black-haired, dark-eyed girl with a polite young lady tone of voice didnât appear in âThe Night of Magicâ, did she? I donât remember their names, but I remember the faces of the beautiful girls in âThe Night of Magicâ.
Iâm not good at remembering names. I canât remember the names of characters from anime or novels, especially if they have nothing to do with my work and I donât have to remember them. But I do remember the faces of cute characters.
If Yamiyo changes into a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, vertically drilled young lady, I can think of a character, but I have a dim memory that the girlâs name is not Japanese.
Yeah, I donât remember it at all. Well, in any case, I donât think it was a character in the novel. Maybe Yamiyo was in a spin-off, but I got bored with the main story. I havenât even seen the spin-off story. If it was the anime, I might have remembered it.
Even so, I decided not to pretend to be a character. I mean, this kindergarten. There are a lot of girls with the same tone of voice. It seems to be a kindergarten for good families. I wonder if my family is wealthy after all.
By the way, she is a marquisâ daughter because this Japan is a country called the Japanese Magic Empire and is ruled not by the emperor (tennou), but by the emperor (koutei). Then democracy is up to the House of Representatives. The House of Councilors changed its name to the House of Peers and is ruled by prestigious aristocrats.
Yes, it is the classic novel setting. If there are nobles, it is easy to make a story for a novel. I know, I know.
âThe Night of the Magicâ is a classic low-fantasy novel. In other words, it is a novel that made templates. In other words, a world full of templates. Thatâs the world I live in.
Yamiyo stares at me with her head tilted back cutely. Even at a young age, she probably realizes that Iâm fooling around with her. Children are sensitive about such things.
âItâs okay. But more importantly, isnât it about time for lunch?â
âYes, it is. Iâm sure Mii-chanâs lunchtime is accurate.â
Puffing up her cheeks, Yamiyo looks dissatisfied, but she still goes along with my subjectâs change. Sheâs a good girl.
âIâll clean up before I go, so wash your hands, Yamiyo-chan.â
âOkay, I understand. Iâll go ahead then.â
