Chapter 68.1. Masatoshi Sees Various Conspiracies
-Masatoshiâs POV-
You could say itâs matchless. The small person easily annihilated the scissors mantis who were chasing them, and they ran to the battlefield. Theyâre formidable fighter. Who are they? No, could it be they can use recovery magic?
âMion, what happened?â
âMami! You were safe!â
Untying her arms from Masatoshi, Mion looks surprised to see her friend. She was probably dead. Heâs relieved seeing the two of them hugging each other and rejoicing. He chuckles and stands up, which isnât like him.
The people were also stunned, wondering what had happened. He looked toward the battlefield and saw relief tanks had appeared, and their allies were pushing back scissors mantis.
He patted his chest and dusted off the dust, feeling that everything seemed alright now. Heâs almost out of mana, and heâs exhausted. That magic is an improvement. It exhausted him with just one shot of magic.
âYou saved me?â
âOh, no, I just wanted to thank you for the pizza. I didnât do anything.â
âMasatoshi-sam, thatâs amazing! I canât believe you could easily defeat those monsters!â
Sena jumps to her feet, and pushes her way over to Masatoshi, who holds her hand respectfully, not caring about the sticky blood he picked up from Mion.
âPhew. Itâs no big deal. Itâs more about your hands will get dirty, Sena-san.â
He casually waves his hand away, saying Mionâs fine, and he doesnât need to protect her anymore. With half-lidded eyes and a wry smile, Mion shrugs her shoulders. If sheâs alive, no problem. Goodbye, mob girl.
âDonât get greedy again!â
âYes, yes, thank you!â
Mion waved her hand and left. We would never see each other again. Never, ever, will I feel awkward because I didnât get there in time to save her.
He uttered a final goodbye and immediately turned to Sena.
Masatoshi, the cool guy, seems to have caught the saintâs love interest, and his nose grows longer, and his mouth relaxes. When he does it, he does it. With everyoneâs wounds healed and no deaths reported, his earlier remorse dissipates into a cloud, and he utters the awkward line.
âIâm sorry I was late to protect you. Iâm disqualified as a knight.â
He apologizes but gives a smile that he thinks is cool.
âNo, donât worry about it. Itâs a sign of victory for Masatoshi-san. Oh, Masatoshi-sanâs victory is kind of weird.â
Sena giggles, and is adorable even in disguise. He becomes delirious in front of the novelâs heroine.
âNo, no, my name is weird, uhehe.â
The Sena route is confirmed. After all, sheâs holding my bloody hand without disliking it, even though she would be soiled. Her eyes are hidden by her glasses. But heâs sure they shine brightly as she gazes at the man she loves. The warmth of her hand holding his gently is comforting.
A slight lump remains in the corner of his heart, but heâll think about it later. If he thinks about it now, he might get sick and collapse.
Because he felt uncomfortable with Sena and the others who werenât paying attention to their surroundings. But, she was the heroine of the original story that he liked so much. It must have been his imagination.
She doesnât say that sheâs glad Mion survived, nor does try to look for those who are hurt, but she must be very upset. Sheâs a kind-hearted Sena. No doubt.
âIâm sorry, Masatoshi. I didnât think you were that strong. That was amazing, that magic.â
Without sarcasm, Shin approaches Masatoshi with respectful eyes, honestly praising him. Heâs indeed the protagonist. There is no trace of envy. As expected of the protagonist. He would have glared at him with envy and jealousy, and he laughs back, once again confirming the protagonistâs good nature.
âHuh, once you awaken to mana, this level will be a piece of cake.â
âYes, Iâm the heir to the Duke of Kanna, so I should be able to do this much. But for now, itâs you, Masatoshi. Youâll be the talk of the town, a heroic act.â
âReally? Not so much? Oh no, now Iâm maybe, no, nothing.â
He laughs excitedly and stops just before he mentions that he might become Senaâs fiancée. In the original story, for some reason, Sena did not have a fiancée. There was a potential fiancée, but he was an arrogant, sarcastic guy who got involved with Shin and had a template outcome. He couldnât make that mistake myself, he thought, just in time.
âMaybe Masatoshi-san will be my potential fiancée! Oh, Iâm sorry. I didnât mean to be so selfish.â
âOh, no, donât worry about it. Iâm honored.â
Sorry, protagonist-kun. Masatoshi smiles high, âI got Seina, hahaha.â. Here was a man who was so excited that he was about to climb the heavens and break through the atmosphere.
