Chapter 830
Betrayal At the Altar by Dolores Delia
Chapter 830 The two of them sat quietly in the car.
Ronnie saw that she wanted to say something but hesitated. âWhat do you want to know? Ask me, and I shall tell you everything I knowâ
Ronnieâs invitation had clearly exceeded Rachelâs expectations.
She wondered, âBased on the strained relationship between Ronnie and David, even if Ronnie does not detest me because of David, why would he be so nice to me?â
Yet, for some reason, Rachel had always fully trusted Ronnie.
Her intuition even told her that Ronnie was someone she could rely on.
She gathered her thoughts and asked stoically. âWhat do you know about David?â
To know oneâs own strength and the enemyâs is the sure way to victoryâ Ronnieâs brows perked softly as he spoke, making his already alluring eyes a little more flirtatious. âI cannot guarantee that I know everything, but I do know some of his darkest secrets that are rarely talked about.â
Rachelâs eyes beamed, and her curious eyes showed keen interest when she heard that.
âDoes the secret include what Noah spoke about before? Rachel wondered.
Nevertheless, those were all grudges that had nothing to do with Rachel. If all Ronnie wanted was to bring David down, Ronnie did not have to know about Davidâs secrets.
Unless what Ronnie wanted was more than just that. âCould it be that Ronnie was not only targeting David but also the rest of the Jones family Those thoughts sent chills down Rachelâs spine.
Ronnie noticed the change in her gaze, and his curled lips flattened a little. He said calmly. âThe Jones family is not my target.â
Upon hearing this, Rachel stared at him without blinking. Her probing gaze seemed to be judging how much of his words were true and how much of them were false.
Ronnie looked back at Rachel boldly, and it made Rachel feel ashamed of herself for thinking so little of him.
âWhat do you want to know?â Ronnie rubbed the bone ring on his thumb and said unhurriedly. âAbout the Jones family?
Yandel? Or Mrs. Olson?â
Rachelâs heart wrung when her thoughts were suddenly exposed.
She hesitated for a short while before looking up at Ronnie. âHow much do you know about Mrs. Olson*
âAs expected âThe smile on Ronnieâs face that was wiped off a few moments ago came back when he said it right. âYou are asking the right person. If you had asked anyone else, they might not be willing to tell you.â
Rachel had thought about that too.
âSo, Mrs. Olson is Davidâs mother, but she was later married into the Olson family?*
âThatâs right, Ronnie affirmed lightly, âNot all mothers in this world look forward to the arrival of their children, and Mrs. Olson is one of them. Her hatred toward David was as deep as the ocean. However, we would have to go back in time to understand how this grudge got so persistent.
âDavid is not willing to tell you about it because he wanted to protect you and did not want you to get involved in unnecessary troubles. Mrs. Olson is not a good person. You think Noah and Marina are bad? Even if they had joined forces, they are nothing compared to Mrs. Olson.
âSometimes, God has his mischiefs. He would give people noble birth, absolute power, and high and mighty statuses, but then deprive them of the kinship among their families.â
As soon as Ronnie finished speaking, he gave a mocking smile.
There was a hint of self-mockery.
Rachel just looked at Ronnie.
She was getting more and more confused about Ronnie. The man she was talking to was like a mystery.
âSince David has such a vicious and ruthless mother, you as his archenemy, should you not be hitting him when he is down?â
Rachel asked.
It was very clear that Ronnie and David would never find common ground, and the two of them were like oil and water. However, she could sense empathy in Ronnieâs words.
Hearing this, Ronnie looked at Rachel. âWe have reconciledâ
âReconciledâ Rachel could not believe what Ronnie had just uttered.
After all, before this, Ronnie had been going against David in every way possible and was ever determined to kill David.
Their fast reconciliation baffled Rachel.
âI have to go.â Ronnie said as he opened the door and got out of the car.
Rachel looked out of the car curiously. After Darcy stopped his car, he walked toward Ronnie aggressively.
She lowered the window and called out, âDarcy?â
Darcy looked at Rachel, looking ever worried. He scanned her from head to toe. âMiss Grey.â
âYou guys... Rachelâs gaze darted between Ronnie and Darcy for a while.
Ronnie grinned. âIt is not easy to find him. This is the only way for me to see him. I shall take my leave.â
As he spoke, he waved at Rachel and gave Darcy a look before walking toward an MPV in the parking lot.
Rachel watched them leave, one after another. After hesitating for a bit, she started her car and left the scene.
Yet, she could not forget what Ronnie had said.
âNot all mothers in this world look forward to the arrival of their children, and Mrs. Olson is one of them. Her hatred toward David was as deep as the oceanâ Ronnieâs words were ringing in her head.
Rachel had made baseless speculations when she heard the phone conversation. She did not expect everything to be as she had guessed.
Now she could see why David had such an icy personality.
Since he had never felt the warmth of family since he was young, he would not have known how to express arm emotions.
Looking back to what Old Mrs. Jones had told her a long time ago. Rachel could see that the difficulties and hardships David had gone through along the way were far beyond her imagination.
No one in the Jones family would feel sorry for David. Her heart ached at the thought of that.
Mrs. Olson hated David to the core. Rachel was fine with not interfering, but she would never allow Mrs. Olson to bring any more harm to David Rachel would be there to protect her man!
That thought drove her feet to slam on the accelerator as if she was venting the anger in her heart.
When Rachel got back to Sandalwood Hills, she saw that David was already home..
She took her shoes off, tiptoed over, and threw herself onto Davidâs back.
Davidâs lips curled into a doting smile. The moment she pounced on him, he instinctively reached out to hold her hand. âHave you eaten?â
âUmhmm.â Rachel buried her head in his neck and responded gloomily.
Sensing that she was in low spirits, David looked at her and softly rubbed his thin lips against the side of her cheek. âWho made you unhappy?â he asked.
âNo one.â Rachel let go of him and walked around the couch before falling casually onto it in a lazy manner.
Rachel slowly twirled her long hair that hung around her shoulder. âCan I possibly trouble my outstanding and capable fiance to help me out?â she asked.
David replied to Rachel with his eyes filled with love and his heart, affection. âHow could I possibly reject a request from you?â
His tone of voice was soft and doting.
Rachel then carefully explained Aileenâs condition to David. âWith the current medical standards in the country, the risk of successfully removing the remaining bullets from Aileenâs body is extremely high. I wonder if the Bowes family from Aureliana has any solutions?â
The Bowes family from Aureliana was a family of medical practitioners and had been doing that for generations. It was no exaggeration to say that medical professionalism ran in their blood Moreover, Aurelianaâs medical facilities were far more advanced than those back home.
Rachel thought that the Bowes family from Aurelianat might have a way.
