Chapter 273: So He Is Della's Fiancé
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
"Not bad," he said softly.
"I'll be gentler," she replied, easing her touch.
"Too gentle," he murmured, his eyes half-closed, voice lazy and seductive. "I like it no matter how you do it."
Seraphina blushed at his suggestive words and whispered, "Stop talking."
"Okay," he replied with a faint smile.
Just then, Knox and Ezra burst through the door without warning. They froze, wide- eyed, at the intimate scene on the couch.
Ezra was the first to recover, stammering, "Mr. Baker... we found the lipstick, which means Seraphina's crisis is over. She can go home now!"
Seraphina's eyes welled up with joy, and she jumped up excitedly. "Really? That's great!"
The two men wisely retreated, closing the door behind them.
Seraphina couldn't contain her happiness. She turned to Zachary, beaming. "Zachary, I can go home now."
Zachary's reaction was surprisingly subdued. "Yeah, but even though the lipstick was found, the danger isn't completely gone. You'll still need protection for a while." Sensing something off in his response, Seraphina asked, "Aren't you happy?"
Zachary frowned slightly, his expression complicated. After a moment's hesitation, he voiced his thoughts. "Even if you can go home... it's to your own home."
He trailed off, and seeing the hint of sadness in his eyes, Seraphina didn't notice anything amiss. Instead, she said cheerfully, "But we can be together openly now. I want you to protect me forever."
Zachary smiled faintly at her words.
Just then, Zachary's phone rang. He glanced at the number and walked to the window to answer it.
It was Atlas. Upon hearing that the lipstick had been found and the mission was nearly complete, he said excitedly, "Good, Zachary. Remember to come back immediately aîter ritten missirritr comprèntrittener ryagernennt erermerry with Renld: Pantun sappenin me again."
Zachary's expression darkened at the mention of the "engagement ceremony." After a few seconds of silence, he replied, "Okay, I understand."
Hanging up, Zachary turned to Seraphina, his face calm. "I need to step out for a bit."
Seraphina nodded. "Okay, go ahead."
She watched as Zachary hurriedly left, disappearing behind the door.
Her smile froze at that moment.
In the meeting room, the atmosphere was lively.
Knox's face was flushed with excitement. "We got the lipstick. This mission was a perfect success."
Dane patted Zachary on the shoulder. "Mr. Baker, stop looking so glum. The mission's over, and you and Seraphina don't have to hide your relationship anymore. You should be happy."
"Exactly," Dane added with a knowing smile. "Our boss can finally visit Seraphina's room openly."
Everyone laughed at that.
Zachary managed a wry smile.
"Alright, back to work," he said, waving his hand to quiet the room.
He then left the meeting room but didn't return to find Seraphina. Instead, he walked alone to the training field.
Sofia saw Zachary and, as if entranced, followed him. She hid behind a tree, watching him intently.
When Zachary took out his phone, her curiosity piqued, and she crept closer to eavesdrop.
"Grandpa, I want to cancel the engagement. The person I love isn't Della." The two argued over the phone, neither willing to back down, until Atlas finally hung up.
Zachary stared at his phone in silence, his eyes filled with anxiety.
Sofia covered her mouth in shock.
She hadn't expected Zachary to have a fiancée while being involved with Seraphina at the camp.

Her eyes narrowed, and a malicious smile spread across her face.
The seed of revenge took root in her heart. She was determined to tell Seraphina about this.
Sofia first knocked on Seraphina's door, but there was no answer. Guessing that Seraphina might be in Zachary's room, she hurried over.
When Seraphina opened the door and saw Sofia, she didn't have time to speak before Sofia sneered, "Seraphina, you really have no shame. Knowing Zachary has a fiancée, you still flirt with him. Enjoying being the other woman, huh?"
Sofia then loudly announced Zachary's engagement and his reluctance to marry, spilling everything she had overheard.
Seraphina was stunned, her face turning red with embarrassment. "You eavesdropped on his call?"
"Don't make it sound so bad. It was unintentional. Besides, isn't it pathetic to pretend you don't know?" Sofia mocked.
Seraphina, trembling with anger, tried to close the door.
But Sofia forced her way in, her face twisted with a triumphant sneer. "What, can't handle the truth? Let me tell you, Zachary's fiancée is named Della. He even wants to break off the engagement for you. Impressive, huh?"
Seraphina's face went pale, and she collapsed to the floor, as if struck by lightning. Seeing Seraphina's devastation, Sofia felt elated. Seraphina never imagined that Zachary's fiancée was her cousin, Della.
She was paralyzed with shock.
Noticing Seraphina's distress, Sofia, fearing repercussions, quickly said, "I was just trying to help. I'm leaving now." She hastily left after throwing out a few more words. Seraphina then broke down in tears.
Sofia's words made her realize she had been involved with Della's fiancé.
Her mind replayed the scene of Della excitedly announcing her engagement, and how
she had missed the news because Zachary had taken her away and confiscated her phone after an attack.
Her face grew colder in the winter air, memories flooding back:
Tears blurred her vision as she muttered, "I'm so stupid... I almost ruined Della's happiness."

Unable to face Zachary, she decided to leave his room quietly.
She stumbled repeatedly, nearly falling several times.
She made her way to the mountaintop, a place she and Zachary had visited before, and sat on a large rock. The cold wind whipped around her, her hair a tangled mess.
Her mind echoed with Della's words: "Seraphina, I'm getting engaged... make sure you come."
Of course, how could she forget? The Baker family and the York family had been close for generations, frequently visiting each other.
If only...
Her heart was filled with guilt and self-reproach. "I'm sorry, Zachary,"
Her cries echoed in the cold wind.
Zachary had intended to go to the meeting room but found himself returning to his room. The door was ajar, and he stepped inside. Seraphina was gone, but crumpled, tear-soaked tissues littered the table and floor. His heart clenched with worry.
He hurried to Seraphina's room and knocked, but there was no answer. He called Knox to ask about Seraphina's whereabouts, but no one knew.
Zachary's face darkened, and he ordered everyone to search for her. He stood at the door, thinking about where she might have gone.
Finally, his intuition led him to the mountaintop.
The cold wind blew as Seraphina sat on the rock, looking frail and pale, her hair
disheveled, lips colorless, and body trembling.
Despite this, she didn't want to go back.
When she saw the familiar figure approaching, Seraphina took a deep breath, trying to
calm herself.
Zachary took off his coat, intending to drape it over her. Seraphina couldn't help but wipe away her tears.
He quickly steadied her swaying body and whispered in her ear, "What's wrong?"
Seraphina lowered her eyes, smiling bitterly. "Why do you care? Don't worry, I won't
die."
Her voice was soft and weak, but to Zachary, it was heart-wrenching.
