Chapter 216 Infuriating Dennis
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Claire and John quickly separated and sat up.
John, feeling guilty, tried to explain, "We were just packing." But Dennis clearly wasn't buying it.
He stormed in, grabbed Claire's wrist, and yanked her off the bed.
His grip was strong, and Claire could barely resist.
Ignoring John's attempts to intervene.
"Dennis, what the hell are you doing? Let go of me!"
Claire struggled and shouted, but Dennis acted like he didn't hear her, dragging her
into the study and slamming the door shut.
He pinned Claire against the door, gripping her wrists tightly.
His eyes were filled with rage, as if he wanted to devour her.
"Claire, you got a boyfriend now? And you're still messing around with me?" he demanded.
"I..." Claire was at a loss for words, unsure how to explain everything.
She knew Dennis had misunderstood, but she couldn't reveal the truth.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Did I hit the nail on the head?" Dennis pressed on.
His tone grew colder, as if it could freeze the air around them.
"It's not what you think!" Claire finally couldn't hold back and shouted.
She tried to break free from Dennis's grip, but he held her wrists even tighter.
"Then what is it? Tell me!" Dennis roared, his eyes filled with pain and struggle, as if he was torn about something.
Claire looked into his eyes, feeling a sharp pain in her heart.
She knew Dennis had feelings for her, but she couldn't reciprocate.
She bit her lip and made up a reason, "Before I went back home, we had a huge fight and broke up. But he came back last week, apologized, and said he couldn't live without me... so I forgave him. Is that reason good enough for you? Mr. Gonzalez, please stop interfering in our lives."
Dennis was stunned; he hadn't expected Claire to say that.
He looked into her eyes, searching for any sign of a lie, but he was disappointed.
Her gaze was firm and resolute, as if she was stating an undeniable fact.
He let go of her and turned to stand by the window, his back to her.
His silhouette was lonely and desolate. "Last week? So... have you two...?"
Dennis's voice trembled as he asked.
He knew he shouldn't ask, but he couldn't help himself.
"Yes, we've been living together for a while now," Claire answered without hesitation.
She knew saying this would hurt Dennis, but she had no choice. She wanted him to give up on her completely.
A few minutes later, Dennis suddenly turned to look at her, his eyes filled with shock and disappointment.
"We've been living together for two years. We've done everything. Do you want me to send you pictures?" Before he could ask, Claire interrupted, speaking first.
She looked into Dennis's eyes, feeling a sharp pain in her heart.
Dennis looked at her with a look of disdain.
Claire felt a pang in her heart, but she held back her tears, knowing her plan had worked. She had successfully made Dennis hate her.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Gonzalez, for the trouble. I'll be leaving now."
Claire apologized hastily and then turned and fled the study.
She didn't dare look at Dennis's eyes again, afraid she would blurt out the truth.

John saw Claire's red eyes as she came out of the study and immediately went to her, concerned. "Claire, are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"I'm fine, let's go," Claire forced a smile and said.
She grabbed her suitcase and held John's hand, heading straight for the front door.
At that moment, Dennis came down the stairs, his eyes cold and piercing, like he wanted to stab them.
"Wait!"
Claire turned back, and John quickly stepped in front of her, warily watching Dennis. "What do you want? Stay away from Claire!" he warned.
Dennis ignored him and strode up to Claire.
"Claire, I'm telling you, even if you have a boyfriend, I won't give up on you," he said in
a low voice, his tone filled with threat and possessiveness.
Then, in front of John, he forcefully kissed Claire.
Claire was shocked and furious, struggling desperately to push him away, but to no avail.
Her heart was filled with anger and humiliation, feeling like Dennis was toying with her.
"Don't you dare!" Claire finally couldn't hold back and shouted.
She used all her strength to push Dennis away, then grabbed John's hand and left without looking back.
In the car, the atmosphere was tense.
John glanced at Claire, who was silent in the passenger seat, his brow furrowed, his tone revealing his displeasure with Dennis. "Dennis, how dare he treat you like that! Are you okay?"
Claire snapped out of it and shook her head gently, her voice trembling, "I'm fine. Don't tell anyone." She paused, then added, "Especially not Mrs. Gonzalez." John sighed.
He changed the subject, trying to lighten the mood. "Honestly, I think Dennis really likes you. He's handsome, rich, and has a great presence. Maybe you should consider
it?"

John was about to say something, but Claire cut him off. "But thank you for today. You helped me make him hate me, so Mrs. Gonzalez's task is done." She looked up, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
John looked at her, feeling conflicted.
He knew Claire's feelings for Dennis ran much deeper than she showed. Meanwhile, Dennis drove alone to the bar where he first met Claire, which he owned. The bar was dimly lit, the music deafening, but it couldn't drown out his inner turmoil.
He waved the bar manager over. "Tonight, everything's on the house."
The manager was momentarily stunned, then nodded and left. Dennis grabbed the whiskey on the table and downed two glasses in one go. Frustrated with the slow service, he took the bottle and drank straight from it.
The staff watched in shock but didn't dare intervene.
Dennis's mind kept replaying the image of Claire and John together.
Their closeness felt like sharp needles piercing his heart.
He felt a burning anger in his chest but had nowhere to vent it.
Just then, a provocatively dressed girl approached, cooing, "Sir, drinking alone is so
boring. Let me keep you company." She leaned in closer.
Dennis frowned and shoved her away. "Get lost!" His voice was cold and merciless, making the girl shiver and quickly leave.
Dennis ordered another bottle of whiskey. Halfway through, he felt his consciousness start to blur.
He shakily picked up his phone and dialed Claire's number.
On the other end, Claire had just gotten home. Hearing her phone ring, she quickly went to the balcony to answer.
"Claire!" Dennis's voice was slurred with drunkenness. "Tell me, is that John really your boyfriend?" His words were filled with anger and unwillingness.
