Chapter 205 He Helps to Clear the Debts

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Outside the hotel, the night breeze was cool, and the sycamore leaves swayed gently under the streetlights, as if preparing for the impending conflict. Dennis looked at Claire coldly and said, "Are you seriously gonna get engaged to that loser inside?"

"Dennis, how dare you call Otis a loser?" Claire's brows furrowed, her tone revealing her displeasure. "He's the man I'm going to marry. You have no right to interfere."

Dennis smirked, his eyes showing a hint of disdain. "Claire, your taste has always been questionable. Don't forget, you're still under my thumb. Without my say-so, you can't just marry anyone."

"You..." Claire glared at him, furious. "I want out of this arrangement! I can't stay with you any longer!"

"Is that so?" Dennis stepped closer, whispering suggestively in her ear, "Are you sure? We've shared a room, and you've seen me naked..."

"Shut up!" Claire's cheeks flushed, and she quickly cut him off.

At that moment, Otis walked out of the restaurant and overheard their conversation.

His face darkened, and he demanded, "Claire, did you sleep with him? Who is he?" "Otis, let me explain..." Claire turned around hastily, but Dennis pulled her back into his

arms.

"Explain what? Yeah, we slept together. Are you still gonna marry her?" Dennis taunted Otis, a smug smile on his face.

Otis charged forward in anger, but Dennis's bodyguards blocked him.

He struggled, shouting, "Let me go! She's my fiancée!"

"Fiancée?" Dennis sneered, pulling a black card from his pocket and handing it to Claire. "Take this, pay off your family's debt, and keep serving me."

Claire's eyes widened as she looked at the black card, a surge of inexplicable anger rising within her.

She shoved Dennis away, yelling, "What do you take me for? I'm not your plaything! And I don't want your dirty money!"

Otis broke free from the bodyguards, rushing forward to grab Claire's hand. "Claire, ignore him! Let's go!"

However, Dennis had no intention of letting them leave. A sinister look flashed in his eyes as he ordered his bodyguards, "Stop them."

Chaos erupted outside the hotel, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Claire's mind was in turmoil. She knew she couldn't continue this entanglement.

Taking a deep breath, she loudly declared, "Otis, I'm sorry! I can't get engaged to you!"

Otis stared at her in shock. "Why?"

"Because..." Claire bit her lip. "I don't want my parents to lose their land."

With that, she turned and bowed deeply to Orion and Kismet, who had just arrived. "I'm sorry, Mr. Jenkins, Mrs. Jenkins. I've let you down."

Then, she took her parents' hands and resolutely walked away.

Dennis watched them leave, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "How's it going?"

A respectful voice answered on the other end, "Mr. Gonzalez, it's been taken care of."

After hanging up, Dennis turned and left with a satisfied expression.

Otis stood there, fists clenched, eyes burning with anger and frustration.

In the car on the way back to the hospital, the atmosphere was heavy.

Claire broke the silence first. "Dad, Mom, let's sell everything we can and pay off part of the debt."

"Claire, you..." Sabrina looked at her with concern.

"It's okay, Mom." Claire forced a smile. "I'll find a job and pay off the rest slowly."

Just then, Beck's phone rang. He answered it, and his face changed dramatically. "What? The debt has been paid off? How is that possible?"

The bank representative's voice was clear and cold, informing Beck that the Murphy family's massive debt had been paid in full.

"How could this be?" Claire's voice trembled.

She turned to her parents, who were equally shocked.

"Who paid off our debt?" Beck asked, his tone serious.

A name flashed in Claire's mind-Dennis.

That mysterious and powerful man always appeared when she needed help the most.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself. "I think it was Dennis."

"Mr. Gonzalez?" Beck and Sabrina exchanged puzzled looks. "Why would he pay off our debt?"

Claire shook her head. "I don't know, but I'll find out."

She quickly got out of the car and took a cab to Dennis's mansion.

Standing in front of the ornate gate, Claire took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.

The door opened quickly, and Dennis appeared in her view.

"You're back." His voice was calm and deep.

Claire nodded. "Thank you for paying off the debt."

Dennis smiled slightly. "You don't need to thank me. I'm just fulfilling my promise in advance."

He paused, then continued, "You found a family heirloom worth ten billion dollars, remember?"

Claire's expression changed slightly but quickly returned to normal. "I remember. I'll find a way to repay you."

Dennis nodded. "Good. Take care of your business and come back here in an hour." Claire obediently replied, "Okay," and left the mansion.

However, when she returned an hour later, she was stunned by what she saw.

Ivy was directing the servants to clean the floor and polish shoes, while Dennis sat on the couch, leisurely reading a book.

"Claire, you're back." Ivy smirked. "Perfect timing. The floor isn't finished. You can do it." Claire's face darkened, and she was about to refuse when Dennis's voice interrupted, "Ivy, who gave you permission to order her around?"

He put down his book, his gaze cold and sharp. "Claire is my personal servant. She doesn't serve anyone but me. Understand?"

Ivy trembled under his gaze and quickly lowered her head. "Understood."

Claire was also taken aback. She hadn't expected Dennis to defend her like that.

A warm feeling surged in her heart, and she obediently replied, "Yes," then followed Dennis upstairs.

Back in the room, she received a call from Beck.

On the phone, Beck told her that the company had been acquired by Dennis.

Claire's brows furrowed. She didn't understand Dennis's motives.

She knew she owed him more and more.

Meanwhile, Melinda had been reviewing the attendance records for the past six months, sent to her by Delilah.

The lab couldn't afford to keep idle people. If she wanted the lab to stand out in the pharmaceutical industry, she needed to implement reforms and innovations.

She called Delilah, Frank, and Vincent to her office to discuss the specific reform plans.

The three were her trusted assistants, and after a thorough discussion, they unanimously agreed with Melinda's plan.

That afternoon, the lab's upper management underwent a dramatic overhaul. Those who slacked off were demoted or dismissed, while those who worked diligently and had talent were promoted and given more responsibilities. Although there were complaints within the lab, the news reached Raymond, whose phone and office lines were flooded with calls criticizing Melinda.

He suppressed all of them.

He had promised to fully support Melinda, no matter what she did.
