Pain

It spreads over the surface

Like a wildfire

Then penetrstes your skull

Like a stake or a dagger

Sharp and electric

Then it comes in waves

You shut your eyes tightly

Willing it away

As you tighten your fists

Into the sheets

Whatever you can find

But then it's too strong

And overtakes you

Leaving you helpless and immobile
