Throne of Vengeance: Epilogue 2
Throne of Vengeance: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance (Throne Duet Book 2)
If someone had told me I would ever be sitting in a toddlerâs bed, telling them bedtime stories, I wouldâve shot them.
Me, with toddlers?
Me, telling stories?
I donât know what I was thinking when I figured impregnating Rai was the best idea. But thatâs the thingâI wasnât thinking.
I didnât count on the tiny humans who would invade our lives and demand all our attentionâand more.
As if Nikolaiâs cockblocking activities werenât enough, I somehow ended up knocking up Rai again, even though I didnât mess with her pills that time. She was the one who went on without birth control and ended up pregnant.
She gave birth to not only one baby, but two. Yes, thatâs correct. We have identical twin girls, Mia and Maya, who are almost two years old now and have their mum and auntâs spiky natures.
Rai and Reina keep saying they remind them of themselves, especially since theyâre both blondes like them.
The twins settle on either side of me, and Nikolai is in the middle, as I sit down to tell them a bedtime story. I picked one from the countless childrenâs books on the shelf, but Nikolai pushes it away. âWe already know that one, Daddy. Something new.â
âSomething new!â Mia agrees.
âNew! New, Daddy!â Maya pulls on my sleeves.
These little shits are my kids, but theyâre demanding as fuck. Rai says they take after me. Ha. Me? They give me a run for my money. Even Godfather can testify in my favor.
âFine, fine.â I close the book. âSo, once upon a time, there was a monster.â
The kidsâ eyes bug out at that. They love stories about monsters more than those about princes.
âThe monster didnât know what to do.â
âWhy?â Maya asks. âWas he hurt, Daddy?â
âI guess you can say that. He was hurt badly.â
âPoor monster.â Mia pouts. âCan someone come and kiss it better?â
âNo!â Nikolai protests. âHeâs a monster. No one kisses him.â
âThatâs right,â I continue. âHe was all alone and with nowhere to go. He felt empty and with no purpose and always thought his existence didnât matter. To make it worse, other monsters wanted to kill him.â
âOh,â Maya and Mia say at the same time, their little chins trembling.
âAnd?â Nikolaiâs eyes are as huge as saucers.
âHe was saved by a strong princess.â
âReally?â Mayaâs expression lights up.
âYeah, my little pumpkin.â
âIs the princess very beautiful?â Nikolai asks.
âThe most beautiful princess to ever exist.â
âLike Mommy?â Mia stares up at me.
âJust like your mommy.â
âAnd then what?â her sister asks.
âYeah, then what, Daddy?â Nikolai follows.
âThen, she took him to her castle and healed his wounds. After that, they gave birth to three beautiful monsters who looked just like you.â
The twins giggle, and I tickle them. Nikolai tries to escape, but I bring him in, too, until the three of them are squealing and gasping.
After expending so much energy, it doesnât take them long to fall asleep. I carry Nikolai to his bed, but donât bother with the twins. They always end up sleeping next to each other, anyway.
âGood night, my little monsters.â I hit the light switch, and their room fills with images of dim stars.
We eventually moved out of the main Bratva house soon after Nikolai was born. I demolished the small cottage by the lake and built a house thatâs worthy of Rai and our family.
Sergeiâs cancer is in remission, and heâs still reigning over the brotherhood.
Mikhail has been obviously favoring me over his other sonsâmy half-brothersâwho need sense beaten into their psychotic heads. But, well, itâs a marathon, not a sprint.
I never thought our lives would be full of unicorns, and honestly, neither Rai nor I could adapt to that sort of a boring existence. She lives for the excitement as much as I do, and we wouldnât have it any other way.
As soon as I close the door, slender arms wrap around my waist. I smile as I turn around to face my beautiful wife.
Her lips meet mine, and I kiss her with a hunger that hits me in my bones. It doesnât matter how long weâve been together; thereâll never be a day when Iâll get enough of this woman.
âWere you telling them our story just now?â she whispers against my lips, running her fingers over my chest.
âMaybe.â
âYouâre not a monster, Kyle.â
âI was once. I still am sometimes.â I bite her lower lip, sucking on it before I release it. âDo you want to see my monster side tonight?â
âYou know I wouldnât say no to that.â
âFuck, baby. Iâm going to devour you.â
âIs that a promise?â
âSay the magic words.â
She wraps her arms around me, sighing. âI love you, Kyle.â
âAnd I love you, Rai.â
Then Iâm carrying her into our bedroom as she laughs, her happiness ringing in the air around us.
Our happiness.
