Chapter 223 - 223 Truth About The City
Rise of the Crusader
223 Truth About The City
Among the people in the dining, Raphael was the only one who didnât receive a notification message from his M-watch, and as he stared at the people around him, he couldnât help but raise an eyebrow.
Devon was about to put another food into his mouth when the message came in. And upon reading the message, he lost all appetite instantly.
âWell, itâs not like we didnât know what we are getting ourselves into,â Bane said as he stared at Aiden and the others around the table.
âI guess, youâre right, and besides we have the system has our aid. So, life wonât be that difficult, Iâm sure of that.â Aiden replied.
As for Melinda and Becky, they had a grim look on their face.
Even though they knew the experience in the new-age city was going to be dreadful, they still hoped it wasnât going to be as cruel as it was said to be.
But, after seeing the first quests they were assigned as silver students, they realized that this was going to be a hell of a drive.
Melinda took a deep breath, she held onto Beckyâs hand, âWe will survive this.â She said in a reassuring tone.
The truth about the new age city was that it canât just be a place that flocked around with metabeasts, it was created as a training ground by the academy for the beasts.
.....
While the purpose of the academy creating the city had yet to be discovered ever since it had been created, several metahumans had been thrown into the city to temper the beasts in there
The beasts in here were deadly and ruthless, and the majority of them viewed humans, as the scorn of the world.
For some reason, they seemed to believe that they were the only existence that should exist in this world and that all other beings were inferior to them.
âThe two-headed eagle has laid its first egg, youâre to steal its eggâ¦â As Bane went behind Devon and began reading the message on his M-watch, there was shock written all over his face.
And as Bane read it out loud, those around the table reacted upon hearing the task that Devon was assigned.
âA two-headed beast! Thatâs no less than a B-Rank metahuman, and now that she is of adulthood, I can only imagine, how strong she would be.â Becky muttered.
âI knew the academy hated nominal students, but I didnât expect the hatred to be this deep,â Becky added.
Responding to Becky, Aiden shook his head, âEven though the nominal student has it harder than some of us, I donât think the academy hates them.â
âThereâs likely going to be a clue around the two-headed eagles, once you figure it out, then getting it egg wonât be difficult.â Said Aiden.
Bane, who had remained quiet suddenly hit the table and said, âDevon will do just fine, Iâm sure of that.â
âOr have you forgotten that he has a trump card?â
After Bane spoke, it was suddenly all eyes fixed on Devon. Everyoneâs eyes were all glued to him, causing him to be a bit nervous, but after a few seconds, they moved their gaze away from him.
âSo, whatâs your guyâs task, mine is to train the assassin caterpillar,â Bane said in an excited tone.
As the image of the assassinâs caterpillars emerged in the otherâs heads, they couldnât help but shake their head at Bane.
âI have to open a portal that will send two A-Rank meta-beasts to the outside world,â Aiden answered a second after.
âIâm told to draw something that will fascinate the apes and elephant at the square garden in the city,â Becky said.
Becky had only just spoken when she recalled what Aiden said.
She turned to the others, wondering if she had heard wrong, but upon seeing them staring at Aiden, she turned toward him quickly.
âDid⦠Did you just say that youâre able to create a portal that can send us out of here if you want?â Bane blurted with a tinge of excitement present in his voice.
âYes, I can,â Aiden answered.
Those words had only just come out of Aidenâs mouth when he realized the weight of what he had just said.
âNo, no, no, no, no⦠The academy has warned me not to use my powers in that way for any of the students here.â Aiden said, âExcept if it is absolutely necessary, meaning for the right course.â
âThe punishment for the crime is expulsion!ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
As the first points he gave didnât seem to confuse those around the table, Aiden quickly stated the penalty in place if he were to break the rule.
âItâs alright Aiden, we wonât ask you to create any portal for us, as we still want you here,â Bane said.
âBut, I canât certainly say the same about a week from now,â Bane added.
âHahaha!â
The atmosphere in the dining soon returned to the lively state it had been before the notification message came in.
Elisa, Melinda, Becky, and Aurora said what the task they were assigned was, and the group discussed it for a while before moving past It.
And among them, the person who seemed to have the most satisfying work was Aurora. She was instructed to create an attack as well as a defense-based gadget for a group of meta-beasts.
Usually, upon seeing a human or metahuman in the city, the beasts would have chosen to attack instantly, but there was an image on which once the beasts laid eyes on, they would be restrained instantly.
As the message to create gadgets for the beasts came, she also received the image as well.
âI canât share the image!â Aurora exclaimed once she saw the look on the people around the table.
After a few minutes, they were all done with the dishes in front of them, and one after the other they began leaving the dining room.
âI wish you all the best of luck! And try not to die on your quests.â
Bane, Aiden, and Devon were the first to leave the mansion, followed by Melinda, Becky, and Aurora.
As for Elisa, she pecked Raphael on the cheek gently before walking out of the mansion.
