The wolf howled in pain and toppled onto the ground. It tried to escape, but the stone, thrown with great force, flattened half of its head. Reflected in its eyes was a young woman with a wooden expression and a large stone that rained down on it repeatedly.

“Bam, bam, bam…”

Like a machine, Tang Yuxin relentlessly pounded the wolf’s head with the stone. She kept smashing even after it was already dead and its head flattened.

Just then, a hand reached over, took the stone from her, and threw it aside. Then, her head was pressed into a warm, yet bloodstained, embrace.

“It’s okay, don’t be afraid. The wolf’s dead.”

“Oh my god, what happened?” When Bao Shuai returned, he saw two wolves’ dead bodies on the ground—one with a bloody neck and the other with its skull grotesquely crushed.

Gu Ning, with fresh injuries all over him, was sitting, one hand cradling Tang Yuxin’s head, allowing her to lean on his shoulder.

Bao Shuai walked over, threw the dead rabbit he was carrying to the side, then knelt down and looked sympathetically at the disheveled Gu Ning and Tang Yuxin.

“Your medicine is quite good,” he said. As the injured one, he could feel the cool sensation when the powder was poured onto his body. Though he had been injured many times before, this was different. There was no bleeding, and it seemed to have an analgesic effect. His wound at the waist, although exerting a great deal of strength, did not have the initial excruciating pain.

“I formulated it myself,” Tang Yuxin continued to bandage Gu Ning’s wound. “It’s an ancient remedy, passed down through generations. Though rarely used nowadays, it is most effective for serious wounds like yours.”

She then removed the clothing around his waist to check his wound. She didn’t feel much about doing so because to her—all doctors know there is no difference between treating male or female patients.
