Chapter 19
Alpha’s Second Chance Mate (Sidonie & Carlyle)
CARLYLEâS POV âIâm sorry,â I blurted out, unable to contain my frustration.
âThe first impression I have of you is so terrible, and I canât put up with it because you pose to be a spoilt brat!â With those words hanging in the air, I turned away without. looking back. My mind was consumed by thoughts of Donnie, and the need to talk to her weighed heavily on my conscience, drowning out the aftermath of the encounter with Raina.
Entering the part of the restaurant that was meant for employees, I approached the employees with a determined look on my face. Spotting a waiter with a friendly countenance, I decided to inquire about Donnie.
âHey, excuse me,â I began, trying to keep my tone.casual. âDo you happen to know Donnic, the one who works here?â
âNo, I donât. Iâm new here.â He replied. I saw another person passing by and asked him.
too.
âDo you know Donnie, please?â
The waiter nodded, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. âYeah, sheâs been with us for a while. Whatâs up?â
I hesitated for a moment before continuing. âIâve been looking for her. Is she around?â
He pointed toward the kitchen. âYeah, sheâs probably in there. Anything specific you. need?â
âI just need to talk to her, itâs important. Do you mind letting her know Iâm looking for her?â I sighed.
He nodded again, understanding the urgency in my request. âSure thing, Iâll give her a heads up.â
As I waited, my thoughts raced with anticipation, wondering how this conversation with Donnie would unfold.
With a mix of anxiety and hope, I approached the waiter who had offered to relay my message to Donnic.
âSo, did she say anything?â I asked, trying to read the waiterâs expression.
He hesitated for a moment before replying. âIâm sorry, man. She refused to see you.
Fri, 1 Mar Ãó تا She didnât give a reason, she just said she wasnât interested.â
A wave of disappointment washed over me, and I tried to mask my feelings.
âDid she mention anything else? Maybe when she might be available?â
The waiter shook his head, âNo, nothing like that, just a flatâout refusal. Sorry, wish I could help more.â
As I listened to the waiterâs response, a mixture of frustration and confusion clouded. my thoughts.
Donnieâs rejection left me with unanswered questions, and the challenge of understanding what had transpired in the past three years remained in my mind.
While waiting there, Raina walked up to me with two of her female maids beside her. It turned out that she had been watching me while I made my inquiries.
âSo, whoâs she?â She asked from behind while I was thinking about other ways to get to Donnic.
âOh, hey. I never knew you were still here. What were you waiting for?â
âAre you supposed to tell me that? Arenât you scared Iâm going to tell my brother about this?â
âAnd that was why I said youâre a spoilt brat,â I yelled at her, shutting her up. After at brief rethought of my actions, I decided to play it right.
âAnyway, sheâs someone I know. We had quite a history,â I explained simply with a tone that indicated I wasnât at all going to entertain further questions pertaining to Donnie.
âThat didnât look like âjust friendsâ to me. Why did you leave me alone and sneak off to chat with her?â
âIt wasnât a big deal, miss. I was trying to talk to her as a member of my pack.â I tried my best to be polite even though I was beginning to lose it.
How dare she question me? Who is she? Just because I agree tomorrow doesnât mean she should feel all powerful. She doesnât even worth being my Luna with her silly. attitude.
âReally? Because it felt like you were more interested in her than in being with me.
âYouâre overreacting. And I donât think it should be any of your business.â I declared harshly, hurting her pride.
âYou think? Thatâs the problem. You didnât think about how your actions affect me. I thought we were supposed to be here together, trying to know more about each other.
Butâ¦
âYoung woman! Youâre blowing this out of proportion. Be warned,â I said, heading out after tipping a waiter to help me direct Donnie to some particular place.
âSir, I suggest you come now.â The waiterâs urgent tone sent a shiver down my ver spine as he delivered the us message. Without a momentâs hesitation, I left my seat and followed him, my curiosity morphing into concern.
The clatter of dishes and hushed conversations in the restaurant faded into the background as I followed behind the waiter through the maze of tables. He moved with purpose, weaving through the crowded dining area. My mind raced with questions, trying to anticipate the reason for this unexpected summons. But a part of me knew what was going on already. Raina was querying Donnie, imposing her power as a princess.
âHow are you related to Alpha Carlyle?â Raina queried.
âI donât get what you mean, maâam,â Donnie answered.
âDonât act dumb here, young woman. I saw you both earlier.â
âIâm just a member of his pack, nothing more.â
âWhat happened between you two? He said you had history.â
âI donât get what you mean, maâam. If he said so, you should ask him directly and not coming to me, maâam.â
âAre you insane? How dare you talk to me that way? Do you know who I am?â Raina raised her hand at Donna, slapping her hard on the face.
All these, I could hear at a distance.
As we reached the back of the restaurant, I saw Donnieâs face. It was one that now bore an expression of distress.
âWhatâs going on?â I demanded, my voice betraying a mixture of anxiety and confusion. My mind beat faster than usual seeing my mate in pain.
The employees exchanged glances between each other before reluctantly speaking.
âItâs⦠itâsâ¦.â I understood that they dared not speak. My pulse quickened with anger.
As we entered the kitchen, a surreal scene unfolded before me. Pots and pans clattered, and the air was thick with tension. It was small, furry, and seemed out of place amidst the stainless steel and bustling chefs.
æ² Mar âWhat in the world is that?â I queried with a growl, making everyone flinch.
