âWhen it was dark, you always carried the sun in your hand for me.â

The Range Rover stopped unexpectedly waking me from my nap. Since I couldnât sleep last night and the one before that, I had slept throughout the journey. Although, I do remember walking around the airport like a headless chicken!
Blinking repeatedly, I looked at my surroundings. We were in what appeared to be an endless stretch of road with picture perfect dunes on either side.
âWhere are we?â I queried sleepily.
âWe have reached the outskirts of Ashurâ Rett replied.
âWhy did we stop then?â I queried.
âI want to take a pictureâ I heard Jan squealing. Poking my head out of the window, I saw her standing next to the car and focusing her camera ahead.
It was only when I saw a long black mamba snake slithering, I grasped why the cars had stopped. âDear Goddessâ I whispered when I saw the venomous snake that moved towards the dunes with great agility.
Our kind is not safe from snakeâs venom unless we are given the proper treatment. And black mambas are known to give a âkiss of deathâ.
âPerfectâ Jan grinned after she clicked the picture. âSuch a beautyâ she muttered watching the snake disappear in between the dunes.
Sitting back, I rested my head on Rettâs shoulders.
I have heard that snake crossing the road when you are going somewhere brings good luck⦠I desperately want it to be true!
Not just for me and Rett⦠for Adio and his family too. There has been a lot of tension between the mystics since the meeting two days ago and I totally understood why. The chief of their tribe was risking his own life.
Just like we werewolves depend on an Alpha to provide safety and security, the mystics depend on their tribe leader. When compared like that, the mystics and werewolves seem same but in no way we are same.
They are not shape-shifters like us and we do not deal with spirits like they do. Thatâs the main element of their kind⦠literally telling the evil spirits to go to hell.
Twenty minutes later, the vehicle stopped in front of a large gate with fortress walls on either side.
âWe have reachedâ Tarik, who was sitting in the front seat, told us and I took a deep breath. âStay hereâ Tarik warned when I was about to open the door. âWe do not want the guards seeing you guys.â Sighing, I did as told.
âWhat is going on?â
âBaba is asking permission with the gatekeepers. My uncle thinks of himself as a kingâ Tarik mused mockingly.
âWill they let you guys go in?â
âUs⦠they have to. You⦠they will notâ Tarik said and I pursed my lips.
After another ten minutes, Tarik brought the engine back to life.
The huge iron gates which were locked from the other side, earlier, now got opened and as the vehicle entered inside, I looked at my surroundings. There were five more bald guys standing guard and watching us.
My eyes clashed with one guardâs golden ones and he frowned.
He shouted something and ran after our Rover, but the other guards stopped him and pushed him to the ground. Oh! Adioâs has men working for him inside this fort.
âAnother gate?â Rett growled and sure enough there was one more made out of wood.
âThere are two more to goâ Tarik said sourly and I blinked. Clearly this Nassor dude has some kind of phobia.
Few minutes later, the second gate opened and my eyes rounded when I saw skeletons nailed to the gates. There were at least ten to fifteen skeletons nailed to the large gates.
âThey were the ones who had tried to leave the realm. He has had that put as a warning to othersâ Tarik exclaimed.
âHe is sickâ I breathed out while Rett growled. I finally got an idea of what kind of a chief Nassor is.
The third gate was made of bronze and thankfully, it had nothing fixed on it!
I sucked in a breath as I saw the fourth gate, immediately after entering passing through the third. âIs that made out of real?â Rett demanded.
âPure goldâ Tarik answered watching the golden gates.
âWhatâs the next one made of⦠diamonds?â I demanded.
âThis is the last one and then we see the main cityâ Tarik replied amused and as the gate opened, I saw the kingdom of Ashur. The first car, which had Adio, Dalila and two of their daughters, drove ahead⦠the next one had Jan and Terence along with Adioâs guards. We were in the third SUV.
All the three SUVâs drove ahead and I looked out of the window to look at the city.
âRuinsâ thatâs the word that first came into my mind when I saw the city. There were buildings, but they all looked old and in desperate need of renovation. Every single head turned to look at us, when we passed them.
âAdioâ one man shouted rushing towards the first car. âAdioâ the man cried loudly and then spoke something in their native language. I spun my head and watched as more and more people came out of their shops and started running after the vehicle. They were saying something in their own language but judging by their expression I could say that they were happy to see Adio.
âWhat does Ur mean?â Rett asked Tarik and even I was curious because they crowd was repeatedly shouting Ur and Ra. But I already knew that Ra means the Sun God in their language.
âIt means great. They are saying The Great One is here⦠Ra is hereâ Tarik said and I nodded.
After driving for almost fifteen minutes, we saw the market, where mostly ladies were working at.  There were also beggars in the streets and I hitched my brows as I saw them. The people in Ashur looked worn and scruffy and haggard. Their clothes tattered. Adio was right⦠Nassor was treating his own people very badly. I could say that just by looking at these people.
Then we came to the rows of houses. The majority of the houses in Ashur was made out of bricks and in few places, I saw people living in the tents.
âI am amazed those walls did not collapse. They look oldâ Rett stated watching a house.
âThey are old. At least hundred years oldâ Tarik answered. Children, who were naked and playing in the road, moved to the side and clapped in excitement when they saw the cars. Smiling, I poked my head out and waved at a little girl.
âHoly Goddessâ I gasped as I saw that the people from the city were still running behind the Range Rover because it was the one at last. Women from those markets had joined them too. Judging the gestures they were making using their hands, I could say that they were asking for us to stop. But since Adio did not stop his car, Tarik too didnât and we drove ahead.
Five minutes later, we reached the place where I guess only rich lived because the houses were big and beautiful, the people here were better dressed and flaunted jewelry every way they could.
âThese people look fineâ Rett mumbled.
âThatâs because they are my uncleâs dogsâ Tarik hissed without even sparing a glance at those people.
âThatâs the family houseâ Tarik specified after some time, pointing ahead. My eyes widened when I saw what he was pointing at.
âHouse? Thatâs a Palaceâ I announced watching the building in awe. It was wide and magnificent and superb! The door of that palace was made out of gold and so were the window panes.
âI think your uncle does not know what to do with all the gold he hasâ Rett mused watching two golden statues of naked women on either end of the first stair, leading to the palace door.
âYou realized that just now?â Tarik smirked shaking his head.
The guards in and around the house, who I guessed were loyal to Nassor, rushed ahead to stop Adioâs car, but he drove swiftly, not wasting time on the likes of them.
Adio finally came to a halt, right in front of those entrance stairs. Watching that, even Tarik stopped the car, âStay hereâ Tarik warned us before climbing out of the car.
âThis seems like the devilâs abodeâ Rett muttered looking out of the window. Resting my knees on the seat beside Rett, I bent forward to look out of the window.
âTem, are you guys planning to go out?â Jan asked through the link and I replied with a negative.
The main door, which was made out of gold, flew open, just when Adio stopped near the foot of the stairs along with Dalila, Tarik and their guards.
Two guys, holding spears came out first and behind them came a man clad in a golden color silk robe. The man, who seemed to be in his late thirties, just like the other people of this tribe was bald, had coffee-brown skin, but unlike the others, he had eyes dark as night. He was also was holding a spear, taller and sharper than the others.
âI am sure he is Nassorâ I whispered.
âHe isâ Rett confirmed wrapping an arm around my waist and helping me sit on his lap.
âWish we had a translatorâ I sighed when they started talking. The Nassor guy was downright sour because the moment he saw Adio, his face screwed up to a look of disgust and after that he started spitting words and judging by his loud tone and Adioâs angry stance, I knew he was insulting Adio.
After hearing Nassorâs rant for almost five minutes, Adio got so angry that he caught a spear and threw it straight ahead. Nassor ducked and the spear hit the wall behind him.
At that precise moment, we climbed out of the car and marched ahead.
It caught Nassorâs attention because slowly he stood up straight and watched us, until I was standing right next to Adio.
âCursed creaturesâ Nassor muttered and we werewolves growled murderously. How dare he call us that? âDo you really think this little group of cursed creatures can defeat me brother?â Nassor sneered at Adio and I frowned.
âNot the whole group. Just one of them is enough to defeat youâ Adio hissed.
âThey are paired at birth arenât they? If you kill one, the other one dies tooâ he mocked and I glared at him.
âJust tryâ I dared and Nassor eyes turned into slits.
âI can kill you with my eyes closedâ Nassor said and smirking, he pointed the tip of his spear, which was also made of gold, in my direction. Almost immediately Nassor javelined it.
Rett caught the spear while it was mere inches from my heart and then twisting it, he broke it into two pieces and then handed the pieces to me and Terence. We broke it into another half before flinging it to the ground.
âMy precious goldâ Nassor seethed and glared at us, his dark eyes flaring in anger.
âTwo eyes wouldnât be enough for you to watch me as I move aroundâ Rett growled and Nassor frowned. Slowly, he directed his glare towards Adio.
âWhat is he talking about?â Nassor demanded.
âHe will be the one fighting with you in the battle field on behalf of meâ Adio proclaimed.
At first Nassor just stared and then he burst out laughing as if Adio had just said the joke of the year. I clenched my fists and beside me Rett growled louder than the last time.
âThis⦠this cursed creature is going to challenge me? Me? Nassor the King of Ashur?â Nassor said extending his arms beside him.
âHe will not just challenge you. He will defeat youâ I spat taking a step forward. Nassorâs smile slowly started fading when he saw me and I knew my eyes were the color of blood.
âSheâ¦Â She... -â Nassor stuttered.
âThe daughter of moon Goddess? Yesâ Adio confirmed. âBut donât get scared little brother. She will not kill youâ Adio derided and I smirked, while Nassor curled his lips.
âShe cannot kill me even if she wants to. No one can kill meâ Nassor stated confidently.
âThere is nothing wrong in tryingâ Adio said and I frowned, however I did not turn to look at him.
âWhat is he saying?â Jan asked confused.
âHe is playing. He does not want Nassor to know our planâ Rett answered for her.
âThen try all you wantâ Nassor scoffed and I shook my head. âIt will take me less than five minutes to cut his head off his bodyâ Nassor said and I snarled thunderously. Rett held my arms before I could attack that bastard.
âAnd what if you cannot?â Adio queried.
âIf I cannot. I will let you and your friends leave⦠aliveâ Nassor smirked and I clenched my fists.
âAlrightâ Adio stated calmly and Nassor narrowed his eyes. âWhen do you want to fight?â
âI am ready whenever you areâ Nassor grinned.
âAt elevenâ Adio murmured. It was nine in the morning now and we had still two more hours left.
âEleven. In the arenaâ Nassor said and then looked at Rett, âGood Luckâ he chuckled and walked inside his palace, followed by his guards.
âI hate himâ I breathed out in anger.
âNo one likes himâ Tarik said with a smile.
âWe have got two hours?â Rett asked and Adio nodded.
âShow me in these two hours, how you run around with the incredible speed you haveâ Adio said and I shrugged.
Since we were not welcome as guests in Ashur, we were not given any place to stay by Nassor. However, one of Adioâs friends invited us and offered us food and water. Since the vast percentage of land around Ashur is desert, water was a scarcity and they were very parsimonious about it.
âWe have to walk three kilometers to get a bucket full of waterâ Adioâs friend said sadly and I tensed.
All my life, water has never been a problem to me but now I could see and understand the problem these people had. They did not even waste a single drop of water.
âThat too water is available only from five to nine in the morningâ the lady of the house said and I gulped. âOnce Adio becomes the chief⦠I am sure he will do something and solve our problemâ she added quietly.
After breakfast, we kept teaching Adio how to run around. The mystics had fantastic accuracy and we, werewolves had to be careful about it. The only way to save ourselves was to make sure they could not keep aim on us. Which is why, it was a must to use our inhumane speed every single moment. That way, they could not target on us that easily, while we could easily attack them.
Since there was no much time left, we thought Adio only the quite important moves and tricks, we werewolf often use while fighting with our enemies.
Around ten-thirty, Dalila came and Adio left with her, while I walked towards Rett. Enclosing an arm around my waist, Rett pulled me towards his chest.
âI am scaredâ I muttered against his chest.
âDonât be. I think Adio can handle Nassor. He seems confident enoughâ Rett said softly.
âHe is determinedâ I said pulling away and Rett nodded.
Like I did not remember anything about the time I was possessed, same way Rett wouldnât remember anything either. So itâs all depended on Adio. He has to be the one who has to do this right!
âThis is suicidalâ Jan said quietly.
âThis is the only option he has to save his peopleâ Rett pointed out and I sighed. âCome now, letâs go. We have to start the ritual soonâ Rett said and I paled.
The ritual.
The ritual is the one in which Adio will slit his nerves and possess Rettâs body.
All the people of Ashur had gathered in the arena to watch the fight between Everett and Nassor. No one except for Adioâs friend and uncle knew of their plan. In a way, it was good because Nassor wouldnât suspect anything amiss and he will be his over-confident self.
At one corner of the arena a room was allotted for us and we were in that room. There were two cots in the room and Adio and Rett were sleeping in each one of those cots.
Dalila, Adioâs friend and uncle were sitting on the floor in-between those cots and muttering a spell. The mystics had their own spells, their own prayers for each ritual and Dalila and others were using one of those for this occasion.
My eyes were flooded with unshed tears and I did not let go of Rettâs hands. My wolf was pacing repeatedly inside me because she was too scared of the outcome of this event. The âwhat ifâsâ possibilities were going on and on in my mind repeatedly and it was deeply unsettling.
âHeyâ Rett said and I looked at him, to see that he was smiling at me. âItâll be okayâ he said and I nodded while tears rolled down my cheeks.
Dalilaâs body started shaking violently and I gasped in fear as I saw that. She was sitting but even then her whole frame was trembling.
âTemplar, let go off his handâ Adio said and I shook my head. âNowâ he said and Rett detached my fingers from his. Terence held my arms and took me with him, while I shook my head and started fighting.
âLet me goâ I screamed at my brother while he continued dragging me. Jan and another woman joined them while I started growling in rage.
I roughly pushed the woman away and holding Janâs wrist, I pressed it until she whimpered and loosened the hold she had on me. I know I was hurting my best-friend but my mate was in danger and I could not let her stop me from saving him. Terence wrapped his arms around me tightly and it was difficult to free myself from his hold at first, but then my wolf came at forefront and immediately, I started clawing and kicking him. Wincing, he let go and just when I was about to rush towards Rett, I heard sounds of something dropping on the floor.
I stopped in my tracks and looked at Adio, who already had slit both his wrists with the knife. Closing his eyes, he smiled and slept peacefully in the cot. Wiping my tears, I watched him and wondered what magical power he has to smile even at such a sad time.
One of Adioâs daughter and the other woman, whom I pushed earlier, started crying when they saw that. But others did not even open their eyes. They were all engrossed in praying and muttering the spells to save Adio.
I stepped back the moment Adioâs friends and uncle started trembling the same way as Dalila. The way their body shook was something odd because it felt like they had no control over their own body. It was similar to the way fish trembles when pulled out of water.
I inhaled sharply when I saw Adio, whose blood was oozed around his hands. His skin was losing color⦠fast and my heart hammered in my chest. A cold feeling enveloped me and I placed a hand above my heart, hoping it would somehow calm me down.
Outside, I could hear people talking and Adioâs name being said repeatedly but I could not understand what they were talking about.
It was only when I heard Nassorâs loud voice that I realized that he had reached the arena and was now waiting for Rett to fight with him.
A minute later, Adioâs mouth opened wide and from it came, his spirit, in the form of a blue shapeless figure and it straightaway moved to Rettâs sleeping form.
I was not willing hence Randall, Simon and others had to do that much to let Drewâs spirit possess me. Since Rett was willing, Adioâs spirit had no problem in taking over his body. Through mouth he entered Rettâs body and I watched and offered continuous prayer to the Goddess, to ensure their safety.
Nassorâs voice boomed around and I gritted my teeth.
âHe is mocking Rettâ Jan, who had gone out to see, muttered while coming inside. âA man there said, Nassor is saying Rett and Adio are hidingâ she said and I curled my fingers to form a fist.
âWhat did you say?â
âI told him both will come out soonâ Jan smirked and I knew exactly what she meant by that. Both, Adio and Everett will go out soon.
As if on cue, Rett sat up straight and opened his eyes⦠only it was not my Rett because his eyes were now a bright gold instead of pacific blue.
It was Adio, who had taken over my mateâs body.
Unwarily my eyes drifted towards Adioâs body whose breathing was barely audible. He had five-seven minutes leftâ¦
âDo not worry Templar, I will make sure your mate does not get hurtâ Adio told standing right in front of me. His voice, face exactly like Rett, but only it was not Rett.
With inhumane speed, Adio, who had possessed Rett now, walked out and I followed after him.
Nassor who was ranting something, stopped talking and then looked at the possessed Rett and grinned. âFinally, you are here. I thought you would keep me waiting foreverâ Nassor mocked. Everett strode ahead with the extraordinary speed and stood right in front of Nassor.
There was collective gasp from the crowd and Nassorâs eyes widened in surprise when he saw that. Guess he forgot what we werewolves are capable of.
âLetâs startâ the possessed Everett said in a deathly calm voice.
Then the fight began.
Nassor raised his hand to punch Everett who ducked and then spinning, stood straight to avoid another punch. As Nassor raised his leg to kick, Everett punched him in the thighs. Nassor tried to slam his elbows to the possessed Everettâs ribs and face, but Everett defended himself both the times.
As Everett raised his hand, Nassor caught his wrist and then punched him in the stomach, chest and face. My wolf bared her fangs when she saw that and I took a step forward as Nassor slammed his head against Adioâs.
He slammed Everett twice more and even kicked him in the face. At that same time, Adio must have probably realized he could use the claws we werewolves have, because he then clawed Nassorâs hands. Screaming, Nassor stepped back and then looked up at the possessed Everett.
There was a blur of movement and Everett moved here and there hitting Nassor, who then fell on his knees crying in pain. Everett took that opportunity and slammed his knees against Nassorâs face.
Rolling over, Nassor stood up holding his jaws and then turned to look at one of his guards, who threw a spear for Nassor to catch. I gritted my teeth as I saw Nassor catching the spear and pointing it towards Everett.
Smirking, he let go off the spear. Using the inhumane speed werewolves have, Adio was easily able to avoid getting hit by the spear and it went past him. But before it could hit someone in the crowd, Everett caught it.
Nassor used that opportunity and holding another spear, he threw it in Everettâs direction.
âNoâ I screamed but it was too late because the spear pierced Everettâs thighs. âNoâ I whispered with tears in my eyes when Everett fell on the ground.
âTemplar donât go. He will get upâ Terence wrapped an arm around me and pulled me back, with little help from Jan.
I watched as Nassor laughed while Everett grunted in pain.
âPlease get up⦠Adioâ I said slowly as Nassor strode ahead and kicked Everett in the face.
I screamed in rage and started fighting Terenceâs hold on me, while Nassor kicked Everett twice more. The fourth time, Everett dug his claws on Nassorâs feet and as the mystic screamed in agony, he pulled the spear injected to his own thigh and stumbling, he stood up and threw the spear in Nassorâs direction.
The mystic too was able to avoid being pierced by the spear. But before he could stand straight, Everett attacked him, by ramming his head against Nassorâs first and then punching and slamming his knees against Nassorâs chest. He then caught hold of Nassorâs wrist, his jaws and then held him up so that his feet werenât touching the ground.
Then using full force, he rammed Nassorâs head on the ground.
My wolf barked enthusiastically when she saw that.
âYou will not be able to kill meâ Nassor said standing up and swaying because he was hurt badly by the possessed Everett. âNo human, no animal, no mystic can Kill meâ Nassor grinned wiping the blood from his nose.
âI knowâ the possessed Everett said and then raising high in the air, punched Nassor in the head. The crowd cheered as Nassor fell on his sides on the ground.
âI am all three in one bodyâ The possessed Everett said with a smirk as his eyes turned a shade of gold.
Nassor must have realized what we had done because using his butt, he started moving backwards.
The possessed Everett caught a fistful of Nassorâs shirt and after compelling him to stand straight, punched him. While his head flew backwards, Everett pierced his sharp claws on his chest and pulled his heart out.
I closed my eyes and let out a breath as I saw that.
The crowd cheered enthusiastically while my wolf howled. But she wasnât calm yet because Everett was yet to come back to her.
Nassorâs lifeless body slumped on the ground and then using werewolf speed, the possessed Everett walked inside the room we were in and lied down on the same cot as before.
Entwining my fingers, I pressed it against my chest and prayed, asking my goddess to save both Everett and Adio.
I grimaced as I watched Adio, who had a small pool of blood around his hands. His skin was deathly pale and his chest wasnât raising and falling down either.
Dear Goddess!
Taking a deep breath, I continued praying and watched as once again the three mysticâs body started shaking violently before finally Adioâs spirit got split out of Everettâs body and occupied his own.
Everett opened his eyes after few seconds and as I saw the pacific blue eyes, I flung myself to his arms while my wolf heaved a sigh.
Thank Goddess! My mate was safe.
âI am fine⦠see⦠I told you nothing will happenâ Everett soothed running a hand over my head, while I sobbed against his shoulders.
âI was so scaredâ I whispered through tears. âYour wound?â I demanded looking at it and heaved a sigh when I noticed that it was healing.
Terence hugged Rett too and they welcomed him back. As Rett tensed, I pulled away from him wondering what went wrong. It was only then I realized that Adio hadnât yet opened his eyes.
He was not breathing normally and I swallowed audibly. Dalila, his friend and uncle were around him and using their healing ability they were trying to heal the cut in his wrist, but already he had lost too much blood.
I did not have my healing gift either and I did not know how to save him. But as I watched Dalila, Tarik and others crying, I knew, I had to try at least once to save Adio.
Letting go of Everettâs hands, I strode to where Adio was sleeping in his cot.
âStep backâ I told everyone around him. They were not ready, but Rett, Jan and Terence asked them to do so.
Placing my hand on Adioâs slit left wrist, I prayed, âHe has saved your daughterâs life once and gave hope to all your other children. Now please let me repay that debt, motherâ
Immediately I felt heat, arising from my heart first and then slowly, tenuously spreading around my whole body. I gritted my teeth unable to bear the heat inside my own body, it was burning my skin.
But then to relieve me from the pain, the heat seeped out through every single pore in my body. It spread around Adio and me, in the form of the blue ring and slowly, I felt the slit in Adioâs wrist, healing beneath my fingers.
Only when I felt the heat cool off, did I open my eyes but since it consumed a lot of my energy I felt dizzy. Taking a deep breath, I stood up and was immediately wrapped by Everettâs strong arms before I could stumble.
Adioâs breathing had returned to normal and few minutes later, there was an eye movement before he finally opened his eyes to reveal golden irises. While he sat up, his wife and his children hugged him and cried while also telling how relieved they were to have him back.
Adioâs eyes clashed with mine and he smiled in gratitude which I returned.
Adio had a lot of work to do in Ashur. A lot because he said that Ashur as he once known had been destroyed and he had to rebuild it. It would take him at least a year, but he was ready for the challenge because Adio was now finally home as a ruler to his people.
The followers of Nassor, those who were remaining were immediately killed by the other people in the tribe. There was unrest for quite some time before it was finally calmed down by Adio.
Once he announced he wouldnât leave them again, the people cheered and started celebrating. I was happy to see it because they were all safe nowâ¦. Their future seemed bright! When Adio told his tribe people we helped him, they all knelt on the ground and bowed their heads in utmost respect to us.
My wolf howled, profoundly touched by their honor.
Since Adio would not be returning back, we decided to leave because I had only three days for my meeting in the Sorority Building. After spending my energy on healing Adio, yesterday, I had slept through what remained of the day. Today morning, we told Adio that we had to leave and he immediately agreed and arranged his private jet for us.
While we were leaving, an elderly lady, who was the oldest⦠almost six hundred years old, stepped forward and held Rett and my hands. We bowed our heads in respect to her, but she smiled and running a hand over my head, said something in her own language.
Adio chuckled as he heard it and I raised both my brows questioningly.
âShe blesses you with ten kidsâ Adio said and I choked on my spit.
Ten?
Oh Dear Goddess!
Jan started laughing loudly while I turned beet red.
âThatâs not a bad ideaâ Rett said and horrified, I shook my head. My reaction got everyone into stitches which only added more color to my cheeks.
I did not thank the elderly lady because I had no intention of being a broodmare.
Rett placed a hand over my shoulder and pulling me closer pressed a chaste kiss on my temples. My wolf sighed in contentment and I smiled.
Another lady stepped ahead and while she spoke to me she repeatedly used one word called Badru and I asked Tarik what it meant. âShe called you Badru. It means one born during the full moonâ
The lady nodded and spoke again, extending her hands in a wide gesture.
âShe tells that when you were born there was plenty of water even in the ocean.â The lady spoke some more and Tarik translated it as, âShe says that the ground melts and water surfaces wherever you keep your feetâ
My lips parted in surprise and I sucked in as much oxygen as possible to my lungs after hearing her words. I did not know about ground melting but I knew I could do something to provide water to the citizen of Ashur.
Adioâs spear was closest to me and I pulled it from him and closing my eyes, I started blocking every sound around me until all I could hear was the gentle flow of water. At first it was only from the water, the people have stored in their house but then⦠after a long, long time, I could hear the mild flow of water from underneath the surface of the earth.
Spinning, I threw the spear in the direction of the sound and after flying in the air, it pierced the ground at one corner of the arena. Everyone watched curiously wondering why I did what I did.
However, they gasped and cried in happiness when water sprinkled out from there.
âWe had an arena built to fight and kill others in the very land piece where Ra had stored water for usâ Dalila said watching as the people rushed to just touch the water sprinkling from the ground.
âYou knew she would do thisâ Everett said all of a sudden and I found him watching Adio who had a smirk in his face.
âI hoped she wouldâ Adio answered and I shook my head.
Not hoped! He knew for sure that I am going to solve the water problem of the people of Ashur, hence he had asked me to come here along with Everett.
âThank-you Everett, Templar, January, Terence, for all your helpâ Adio said and then shook hands with us. âIf in any need, all you have to do is call meâ he added and I nodded with a jerk of my head.
Twelve hours later, the private jet landed in WaterWave Pack is what I thought. So imagine my surprise when instead, it landed in GreenRock Pack.
âWhy GreenRock Pack?â I queried, while we were walking towards the checking area.
Rett did not reply at all. He was tensed and his skin was pale. I furrowed my brows not comprehending what was the matter with him. I asked Terence and he too was quiet.
Jan, just like me, was unaware as to why we landed in GreenRock. She too kept asking Terence to tell her what the matter was. My wolf started pacing around and the silence of her mate was annoying her.
âOkay Rett, just please tell me what is wrong?â I snapped in serious frustration, half-an-hour later while we sat in the backseat of the SUV driven by Sam.
âWe are going to visit Teresa and Allanâs graveyardâ Rett answered gravely and I stiffened as I heard their name.
Oh Dear Goddess!
Amidst all this, I had forgotten that my aunt had died in an accident. Her funeral was over and I could not even attend it. How must Allan Wait⦠what?
âAllan is dead?â I whispered shocked.
Swallowing audibly, Rett nodded.
âWhen? How?â
Rett took a deep breath, before saying, âI had to kill him.â
My eyes rounded to its fullest extent in dismay after hearing Rettâs words.
âYou⦠you killedâ¦â I could not even finish that sentence.
âI had to. He was unstable after Teresaâs death. He started attack-âGrowling, I punched Rett hard in the face cutting him off.
