Chapter 36
The Imposter Bride
The man looked into the girlâs anguished, pale face. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling it forcefully.
Natalia found herself sprawled across his lap. With a fluid motion, the man cradled her in his embrace, turning her face towards him by gently pinching her chin, and planted a passionate kiss on her lips. He closed his eyes, savoring the moment, his voice coming out in a rough. whisper, âI will make love to you again, Natalia.â
Natalia felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment at his words. This man actually had the audacity to utter such things.
âYou⦠Stop being a⦠a jerk!â Natalia struggled to free herself.
But he held her even tighter, âThen I might as well live up to that title.â He said and kissed her again.
Ever since he had slept with Natalia, he had been consumed with the desire to be close to her. He finally understood the words of his friends, James and Chase. His heart, which had been barren for years, seemed to have found an oasis. He couldnât quench his thirst for her. She was too sweet, her body driving him to the point of insanity.
His warm kisses forced Natalia to submit to his desires. He pried open her lips, capturing her tongue and drawing it into a passionate dance. The sensation coursed through her like an electric current. His cool breath filled her senses, leaving Natalia lost in his domineering yet tender conquests, despite her inexperience.
His hand had already taken off her coat, revealing her dress clinging to her soft curves. His hand traced her body, skillfully caressing her, causing Natalia to let out a soft moan.
The man lifted his misty eyes as he lifted the girlâs petite body so that she was straddling over his lap.
This intimate pose made Natalia blush with embarrassment.
âYou Let me down.â She weakly pushed him away.
The man didnât budge, his heated gaze fixed on her flushed face, âFeeling shy?
âYou seemed to enjoy yourself last night at the Andersen Family Estate. Isnât that why you gripped me so tight? Huh?
âAll these are things that happen between a husband and wife. You should get used to it â
Natalia felt really embarrassed Got used to it? She was nothing more than a substitute. She was not his wife âI am not your wife, Magnus. Stop taking advantage of me. Once your leg gets better, Iâm leaving.â She knew that she would have to leave him one day.
The manâs head shot up, his black eyes burning into hers, Not my wife? So what we do isnât something that a husband and wife do? She was actually planning to leave him âThat was because you forced me, and this time, we were pretending for your grandfatherâs sake.
Magnus, Iâm only here to take care of you. Now that you know Iâm not Kendra, why wonât you let me go?â
She knew she had to leave him one day, so it would be easier to be ruthless now, lest she not only lose her body but also her heart to him..
The manâs face darkened with each word she spoke. He slowly released her, his lustful gaze disappearing, âYou think if I let you go, youâll be safe? Do you think my grandfather will let the Clarksons off the hook?â
He stared at her, his icy expression sending chills down her spine. Nataliaâs heart sank as she heard his words, âMagnus, I know that marrying you in Kendraâs place has been hard on you. But please, for the sake of me taking care of you, donât hurt my father. You promised.â
Her eyes turned red and teary as she stared at him pleadingly.
âIf you want your father to be safe, it depends on how obedient you are. Youâre always thinking about leaving this place. Do you think I will be kind enough to act as if nothing happened when I donât even have a substitute?â Did she also despise his disability and plan on leaving? As Magnus thought about this, his grip on her arm tightened. Natalia struggled slightly, defiantly meeting his gaze, âDo you want to spend your life with a woman you donât love? I know you married Kendra to spite Lucius, but thereâs no need to sacrifice your happiness. I promise to take good care of you and stay by your side until you can stand on your own.â
She gently got up and prepared his bath, helping Magnus out of his clothes before turning to leave the room.
Magnus watched her in a daze as she left, his mind replaying her words. She would stay and care for him until he could stand on his own.
Once the bedroom door was closed, Magnus stepped into the bath, sinking into the warm water, lost in thought. Maybe he should change his plans. He didnât want to stand up so soon.
The next morning, Natalia arrived early to help Magnus with his physical therapy. He watched her, her expression calm and composed, âGet ready. Weâre going to France tomorrow to see my doctorâ
Natalia turned to him, âAm I going with you?â
âOf course, youâre my wife, also my physical therapist. If you donât go, who will?
âI seeâ Natalia didnât say anything more âWhatâs the matter? Donât you want to go?â
âNo.â Going to France might be a good idea, she could get away from Melfort for a while. Suddenly, a thought struck her, âDo you have feeling in your legs? Is that why weâre going to see the doctor?â
The manâs handsome face darkened. She really did care about him, always worrying about his recovery.
Seeing his displeasure, Natalia knew his leg wasnât better yet. She gently massaged his calf, âItâs okay, youâll get better. I have faith.â
She raised her blue eyes to look at his handsome face. How wonderful it would be if he could stand up.
He was already so handsome, if he could stand, he would be irresistible to many girls. He would be happy then, right?
âDo you really hope that I can stand up?â He looked into her eyes.
âOf course, Iâd be really happy if you could stand up.â she said, her smile gentle and warm.
Magnus eyes softened, and he pulled her closer, âSo if I stand up, youâll leave? Huh?â
Natalia looked at him, her heart aching. If he could stand, he wouldnât need her to take care of him anymore. There would be many girls who would like him, and he would have his beloved one by his side. She wouldnât belong by his side then.
âIf you donât want me to leave, I wonât. Iâll stay until you donât want me around anymore.â She said softly, knowing that one day, he wouldnât need her by his side anymore.
Magnusâ gaze softened even more. He gently pulled her onto his lap and brushed away the hair from her cheek, âIâll never let you leave. Remember, donât ever talk about leaving again. Also, youâre my woman, Magnusâ woman, and you always will be.â
He finished speaking and gazed at her stunned expression, then leaned down to kiss her lips. He gently brushed against her lips, and finding no resistance, he immediately engaged in a passionate kiss. He loved kissing her, her lips tasted as sweet as a ripe Georgia peach. It was addictive.
Nataliaâs heart stuttered in her chest. He was kissing her again. She thought about resisting, but his strong arms drew her in close, making escape impossible Taking advantage, he skillfully pried open her lips, coiling around her tongue, pulling her into a deep, engaging kiss.
A tingle shot through Nataliaâs body. Her hands, seemingly of their own accord, clung onto his shirt as she surrendered to his unexpected yet overwhelming kiss
