Chapter 34
The Imposter Bride
Before she could finish her words, the man silenced her with a kiss, his tongue skillfully invading her mouth, intertwined with hers. The sweetness of her mouth had his blood boiling. His large hand slipped under her nightgown. All he wanted was her; he wanted to feel her wrapped around him.
The ferocity of his kiss left Nataliaâs mind in a fuzzy haze. Just as the man was about to push further, there was a knock on the bedroom door. âMr. Magnus, Ms. Natalia, your grandfather requests your presence for breakfast,â
The sound from outside the door startled Natalia, causing her to immediately push the man off her Magnus glanced at her with hazy eyes, âDarling.â
âGet up, someone is here.â
âI donât care.â
Half an hour later, Natalia wheeled him down the stairs. At the breakfast table, Morganâs face was grim.
He looked up at his expressionless grandson and a tense Natalia, sighing heavily, but ultimately said nothing.
Morganâs birthday celebration went as planned. He didnât invite many people, but the executives of the Andersen Corporation and the influential figures of Melfort were all present.
On the day of the party, Morgan only announced that Magnus now held the most shares in the Andersen Corporation, and did not reveal who the future CEO would be.
Lucius squinted his eyes, holding back a strong impulse. He glanced at Kyler, giving him a small nod.
At that moment, Kyler gently stepped out from the crowd and approached Morgan, âMr. Morgan, today I represent the entire Clarkson family in wishing you a happy 80th birthday. You can now begin to enjoy the blessings of your children and grandchildren, and pass on your responsibilities to the younger generation.â
âYes, Mr. Morgan, we have been waiting for you to announce the new CEO. Are you planning on making the announcement at this party?â Mr. Lee added with a smirk. He was one of Lucius trusted men.
Morganâs face darkened instantly. His piercing eyes met Kylerâs, âI will announce the new CEO in June.
Today is my birthday celebration, and I have no intention of discussing business But I wouldnât mind discussing family matters with Mr. Clarkson.â
Kyler was taken aback, his gaze quickly shifting to Natalia, who was standing in the corner next to a wheelchair. Natalja, small and delicate, was standing in the shadows behind the wheelchair, while the man in the wheelchair stared intently at him.
For the past month, he had been on edge. He knew Addison had sent Natalia to Sapphire Island, which had caused a huge argument between him and his wife. He was terrified that Natalia would be discovered and anger the Andersen family, thus ruining the Clarkson fa But a month had passed and Natalia hadnât been sent back. Instead, he was attending Morganâs birthday celebration.
Last night, unable to resist Kendraâs nagging, he agreed to bring up the issue of the new CEO at Morganâs birthday party. He thought that since Kendra was about to marry into the Andersen family, it wouldnât anger Morgan.
Seeing Morganâs reaction, he regretted his decision. He looked at the man in the wheelchair, whose dark eyes were like an unfathomable lake. The man sat lazily in the wheelchair, his expression indifferent, but his eyes were radiating a cold light that sent chills down his spine.
Despite being wheelchairâbound, the man exuded an aura of majesty. Natalia was standing quietly behind him. She had lost weight.
âMr. Clarkson, since Kendra married my grandson, you havenât visited her once. Today, you should spend some time with her,â Morganâs sharp eyes bore into Kyler.
âYes. Thank you, Mr. Morgan.â Kyler quickly walked towards Natalia.
When he reached Magnus and looked at Natalia, he suddenly felt like she was a stranger. He gently whispered in her ear, âNatalia, letâs go talk outside.â
Natalia nodded.
As they left, everyone in the room watched them go.
âMr. Morgan, Kendra seems to be a great match for Mr. Magnus. This is truly a match made in heaven,â
Mr. Lee immediately went to Morgan to flatter him..
âYes, Ms. Clarkson is refined and elegant, truly befitting of a lady of her stature,â
âShe and Mr. Magnus indeed make a cute couple.â
Amidst the flattering comments, Morgan watched Magnus, who had a faint smile on his face. âThank you all. Iâd like to take this opportunity to announce to my grandfather and all the board members that Iâll be joining the Andersen Corporation with Lucius in June He wheeled his chair over to Morganâs side, and amid the surprised gazes of the onlookers, he lifted his head slightly, wearing a smile that seemed unfathomable âEveryone knows that my legs arenât good, but my brain is perfectly fine. I want to contribute to the Andersen Corporation After all, I hold a majority of the shares. I donât want anyone to accuse me of reaping the benefits without lifting a finger His gaze swept across everyone present âMr. Magnus, you should focus on your recovery Leave the company matters to Mr. Lucius.â
âYes, focus on your health, we trust that Mr Lucius can manage the Andersen Corporationâ
Hearing the crowdâs words, Magnusâ dark eyes revealed a mocking smile âThank you for your concern, but I donât need to rest anymore I will officially start working at the Andersen Corporation next month.â
As soon as he spoke, everyone gasped in astonishment, except for the stunned Lucius who couldnât snap out of it. Lucius stared fixedly at Magnusâ halfâsmiling face, and suddenly, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
He was coming back to Andersen Corporation. He was coming back to vie for the CEO position.
Magnus didnât pay any heed to Luciusâ changing expressions. His wheelchair rolled smoothly to Morganâs side, and said with a smile. âGrandpa, you heard it right. Iâm willing to work at Andersen Corporation. After all, itâs the fruit of your lifeâs labor. I canât just sit back and enjoy the fruits without helping to plant the seeds.â
Morgan looked into Magnusâ resolute eyes; there was no hint of jest in them. He gently placed a hand on his shoulder, his face showing surprise and joy. âAre you serious? Youâre really coming back?â
âYes, Grandpa, I am. Iâm sorry for causing you worry over the years. Regardless of it all, Iâm willing to give my all for Andersen Corporation.â Magnus extended his hand to grasp Morganâs.
Tears welled in Morganâs eyes as he firmly grasped Magnusâ hand. âGood, good. Your willingness to come back is all I need to be reassured.â
Lucius stepped up to the wheelchair, âMagnus, why donât you just stay on the island and rest? Leave all this to me. Grandpa, you can rest assured. I will carry Andersen Corporation to greater heights, and I wonât let you down.â
Morgan seemed to have not heard Luciusâ words, still holding Magnusâ hand Without giving a second glance to the directors in the hall, he pushed Magnusâ wheelchair, turning to say, âLetâs go, my boy Since youâre coming back to the company, Iâll have Paul assist you. Iâll have him fill you in on the company matters.â
