Chapter 232
The Imposter Bride
Natalia knew Magnus was capable of anything! He had purposely asked her if she was game, gauging if she was willing to leave with him. If she refused, heâd threaten to bomb Callumâs castle If a fight broke out because of her, the result would be catastrophic. The weapons at play werenât just fists and kicks but largeâscale destructive artillery that could cause irreparable harm. This was the castle that had been in Callumâs family for generations, filled with innocent people. She couldnât possibly let Magnus wreak havoc So, after much deliberation, she resignedly sighed. âIâll go with you, just put away those weapons.â
âGreat! As you wish!â
âNo way!â
Both Magnus and Callum spoke simultaneously. One face lit up with joy, while the other was etched with deep loss âNatalia, you canât go back with him. I donât fear the fire from his Gatling guns, Callum protested, his face filled with panic as if terrified Natalia might go with Magnus Natalia looked at Callum with sympathy âCal, youâve already done so much for me over the years, and I donât want you to suffer anymore because of me âHow can you call it suffering? Callum shook his head desperately, afraid of losing Natalia. Iâve told you marly times that doing anything for you is my pleasure. how can you think this?â
âCal, Iâve made up my mind. If he wants me to go with him. I will. Once he realizes Iâve completely given up on him, he wonât bother you anymore Tears brimmed in Nataliaâs eyes She didnât want to go with Magnus, but she wanted even less for Callum to be hurt by him.
âNo way! I wonât allow it! Natalia, todayâs supposed to be our engagement day. How can you, how can you just leave me like this?â Callum wailed, unwilling to accept Nataliaâs impending departure.
In stark contrast to Callumâs devastation, Magnus was elated. As long as Natalia agreed to go with him, he was confident he could soon make her forgive him He pulled Natalia to his side, exclaiming joyously, âDarling, youâre really going back with me?â
Natalia gave Magnus a cold look and nodded. âIsnât this what you wanted? Iâve agreed to go with you.
Now you can withdraw your artillery, right?â
âOf course!â Magnus nodded enthusiastically, turning to James. âDid you hear that? Withdraw the Gatling guns, as the lady commandsâ
âSure, sure, Nataliaâs always right. Letâs move, James ordered his men to retreat, and the threatening Gatling guns were removed from Callumâs castle Callum was furious and refused to let Natalia and Magnus leave. âNo matter the cost, I want Ms.
Clarkson to stay!â He shouted to his mercenaries, who obeyed his command ruthlessly Callumâs men listened to his order and prepared for battle, loading their mortars.
âNo, Cal, please donât do this. If a real fight breaks out, many innocent lives will be harmed,â Natalia pleaded Callums eyes were bloodshot. âI donât care about collateral damage! My fiancée is openly getting kidnapped on our engagement day. Iâll become a laughingstock How will I face others if I canât keep you here?â
Natalia knew Callum was in pain, but she had to leave with Magnus in this situation. Violence wouldnât solve anything âCal, trust me. Iâll be back. I promise Once I convince Magnus, Iâll return to you immediately. Please trust melâ She assured him, her eyes filled with resolve. She was determined to make Magnus understand that keeping someone by force couldnât mend a broken heart Natalia turned to Magnus. Her eyes were icy, as though she was looking at a stranger âLetâs go.â
âGood The plane will be here soon,â Magnus agreed Plane? Natalia was taken aback Well, it seemed Magnus had prepared for everything. He had decided, whether she was willing or not, that he would take her away. Soon, the roar of an airplane engine filled the air as a small private jet began to descend âCal, take care. Iâll be back soon, Natalia thought, glancing at Callum one last time before being pulled onto the plane by Magnus.
As the plane ascended, Natalia watched Callum, who was still standing there watching the plane Tears welled up in her eyes.
Cal always put her first. She would forever be indebted to him for his kindness On the plane, Magnus noticed Natalia ignoring him His handsome face darkened with anger. She still cared for that Englishman!
âYou still care about him!â He growled, wishing he had killed Callum when heâd had the chance.
Natalia ignored him, focusing only on the clouds drifting by outside the window.
Magnus realized Natalia was giving him the silent treatment and knew she was still angry with him, but he didnât mind. He was determined to win her over, no matter what it took Regardless, he had scored a win today, successfully preventing her engagement to Callum. That was enough Magnus looked at Natalia, clad in her pristine white wedding dress, and felt a potent urge to tear it to shreds. It was a thom in his eyes. Yet, he fought back the impulse, quietly taking in the sight of his beautiful woman before him He didnât voice any of these thoughts, though Natalia was still seething, and he didnât want to add fuel to the fire.
The rest of their journey was spent in tense quietude. Nataliaâs gaze was frosty as she stared out the airplane window, and Magnus silently observed Natalia.
