As they pulled up in front of Richardâs estate, Amber took in the familiar sight of her home with a relieved look on her face. The day she had spent cooped up in the hospital had left her longing for the comfort and familiarity of her own surroundings, and she was just glad that she was finally able to get away from the hospital.
When they arrived in front of the house, Richard swiftly exited the car, his gaze filled with a mixture of concern and happiness as he reached out to assist Amber. His hand tenderly enveloped hers as he helped her out of the car, his words echoing with a hint of worry, âBe careful, Amber. Take it
slowly.â
Amberâs eyes rolled at Richardâs overly cautious demeanor, a hint of amusement coloring her voice as she playfully chided him, âRichard, I appreciate the concern, but Iâm pregnant, not disabled. I can actually handle walking on my own, you know,â she playfully reminded him, shaking her head at how
dramatic he was being.
Richard smiled at her playful retort, his eyes softening. Ever since the news of her pregnancy had been revealed, he had taken it upon himself to pamper and protect her, as if she were made of glass.
He had taken charge of her meals, bringing her homeâcooked meals to the hospital, convinced that the bland hospital food wouldnât suffice for his precious wife and their unborn child. Though Amber found his doting nature fun at first, she couldnât help but feel slightly suffocated by his overprotective
tendencies.
As Richard led her towards the front entrance, he maintained a leisurely pace, his steps measured and deliberate. With a mischievous glint in her eyes, Amber quickened her stride, her voice laced with a teasing note, âBabe, Iâm only a month pregnant, which means I still have eight months before I push this baby out. I promise you, I wonât go into labor just from walking at a normal pace. So can you
relax a little, and stop with
the drama?â
A chuckle escaped Richardâs lips, the sound echoing in the air as he matched her quickened pace. âI know, I know, Iâm sorry. Iâm just being cautious. But can you blame me? Iâm still trying to get used to this,â he responded, a touch of playfulness now dancing in his eyes.
âI appreciate your concern, Richard. Really, I do. But I promise, Iâm perfectly capable of feeding

âBut you canât bathe yourself, right? Youâll need me for that,â Richard retorted, earning a mock
annoyed glare from Amber, who couldnât believe how silly he was being.
Amber and Richard stepped into the house, and the first thing that hit them was the fragrant aroma of food wafting through the air. Amberâs eyebrows shot up in surprise as she inhaled deeply, a hint of confusion lacing her voice. âRichard, did you ask the servants to prepare lunch? I didnât realize they were expecting us.â
Richard glanced around the spacious foyer, his response laced with bewilderment. âNo, I didnât, which is strange, since they would never prepare lunch without checking with me first. Let me find out whatâs going on.â
With a determined pace, he led Amber further into the house, his eyes scanning the surroundings for
any sign of activity.
As they made their way through the hallway, Richardâs gaze landed on a familiar face descending the grand staircase. He raised an eyebrow, curiosity mingling with surprise as he called out to the
servant, âMartha, whatâs happening? Whoâs in the kitchen?â
The servant bowed respectfully to Richard before responding. âItâs your sister, Mr. Romero. She
arrived about an hour ago and is attending to lunch preparations.â
Richard froze in his tracks, a mixture of shock and frustration etching across his features. The last
person he expected to find in his house was his twin sister, Bianca. Her impulsive nature and habit
for showing up uninvited made her presence unwelcomed, to say the least. He let out an exasperated sigh, steeling himself for the impending chaos that always seemed to follow Bianca.
While Richard wore a frown on his face, Amberâs eyes sparkled with excitement at the mention of her
sisterâinâlawâs presence. Hurrying past Richard, she made a beeline for the kitchen, her anticipation evident. As she entered the bustling room, she found Bianca dishing out the food with an air of
enthusiasm.
Biancaâs eyes lit up as soon as she caught sight of Amber, and she quickly abandoned her post to rush
over and gather her sisterâinâlaw in a warm embrace. âAmber! Oh, Iâve missed you so much! Are you alright?â Biancaâs words tumbled out in a rush, her excitement infecting her tone.
Amber returned the hug, a genuine smile tugging at her lips. âIâm okay, Bianca. I didnât expect to
see you here. When did you arrive in the country?â Amberâs curiosity filled her voice, her surprise
evident.

Bianca released Amber from the embrace, her eyes shining with an eager energy. âIâve been in the country for a few days now, staying at our motherâs place. I wanted to come see you at the hospital, but Richard said it wasnât a good time,â she explained, a touch of disappointment lingering in her
words.
