Chapter 216
The Lord Mayor Falls in Love with Me
Marco kept looking at Sarah with affection and infatuation. She knew that he must have never forgotten her.
So what?
There would still be no possibility of a future between them, even if they met again.
Sarah recollected herself and there was no more expression on her face.
Just then, Cindy suddenly patted Sarah on the shoulder with a big smile, âOh, Older Sister Sarah, I couldnât believe youâre still with John. I thought I wouldnât be able to see you when Iâm here. Itâs great to see a familiar face. I believe weâre going to get along very well.â It seemed polite, but in fact it was full of sarcasm. Sarah was really disgusted by her overly feminine voice.
Sarah brushed Cindyâs hands off her shoulder and said coldly, âItâs a surprise to see you here too. But I think my parents only have two children, my brother and I. I never knew I had another sister. So why donât we address each other properly?â Back in the Village of Giant Salamanders, Sarah hadnât lost sight of Cindyâs cunning tricks. Why would Cindy call her sister? Of course she just wanted to emphasize that she was much younger and desirable than Sarah.
Cindy wasnât happy that Sarah had given her a lecture. But she explained politely, âI thought it would be a polite way to address you since youâre older than me. But if you donât like it, Iâll simply call you by your name, Sarah.âSarah closed her eyes and leaned back in the car seat. She didnât want to talk to Cindy anymore.
Sarah knew that Cindy didnât like her because of John Walter. But she was no longer in the mood to fight over him with any other woman.
Marco detected Cindyâs hostility toward Sarah in their conversation, but as a poor speaker, he couldnât come up with anything convincing to stop her.
All he could do was glare at Cindy.
Cindy was confused when she found that Marco wasnât happy, but she didnât give it much thought. Now all she could think of was John Walter and his lover Sarah who always âbotheredâ him.
A few minutes later, they arrived at John Walterâs villa. Two Filipino maids immediately came out of the house and stood obediently at the door.
Sarah didnât get off the car. She just waved at the maids, âPlease prepare a guest room for Miss Cindy. She might have to live here for a while.â
âYes, Miss Sarah!â The maids immediately went forward to help Cindy with her luggage.
âWow, what a big, beautiful house!â Cindy got off the car with her very pregnant body. Everything was new and fancy for her. She looked around the house and screamed with excitement.

Marco shook his head sadly, âNo, Iâm not going back. My...my Grandma died half a month ago. There is no one in the Village of Giant Salamanders for me to go back to.
âI want to stay with you for the rest of...â
Before he could finish his sentence, Sarah quickly interrupted him, âDo you mean youâre going to stay too?â
She kept winking at Marco, hoping to tell that apart from them, there was a driver in the car. The driver was one of John Walterâs henchmen. If the silly boy didnât learn to hold his tongue, something bad would happen sooner or later.
Marco nodded knowingly, âYes, Iâm going to stay. Mr. Walter promised me a job here. I will be a security guard here from now on.â
The news gave her a headache.
What a mess! Why did so many things happen today? Did he really think her life wasnât messed up enough?â
âWell, you can stay if you like. I have an appointment with someone in a while. Why donât you get off the car first? Weâll talk about it when Iâm back.â
Sarah checked the time on her phone. She was supposed to see Philip in half an hour. Now she was running late for their appointment.
Marco tried to get off the car as soon as he heard that Sarah had something else to do. But...he didnât know how to open the car door. He couldnât get it open, no matter how hard he tried.
It was his first time in town and, of course, his first experience with a car.
Sarah chuckled. She unfastened her seat belt, leaned over, and helped Marco open the door.
As she leaned over, she was much closer to him, and he could even smell her hair. He blushed.
Sarah felt his intense emotions and immediately sat straight in embarrassment. But her heart was beating very fast.
