Chapter 514
The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)
Johanson was livid, his veins throbbing with the kind of rage only a man unaccustomed to defeat could know. He was a titan in his own right, a man used to getting his way, but this time, he met his match in a young upstart. The fact that he nearly lost the fight was bad enough, but to be the laughingstock of his estate was unbearable.
Bound and subdued, Jonas was thrown into the dank cellar below Johansonâs sprawling estate, his dark eyes blazing with defiance as he locked gazes with Johansonâs steely grey ones.

Meanwhile.
Accompanied by Magnus, Natalia arrived in the States in a flurry of concern.
Richard had been awaiting their arrival at the headquarters for quite a while. Upon seeing their anxious faces, he quickly ushered them into his office.
âRichard! What in the world has happened to my boy? I entrusted him to you, not for him to disappear like this!â Magnus hadnât even fully stepped into the office before he glared angrily at Richard.
Natalia gently squeezed Magnusâ arm, whispering softly, âHoney, please donât talk like that.â
Richard looked down, his face etched with guilt. âMagnus, Iâm terribly sorry about this mishap. Jonas went missing while on the trail of a fugitive drug lord. The Coast Guard has deployed planes to search the area where contact was lost, but so far, thereâs been no news.â
âA drug lord on the run? What on earth is going on? You let him get involved in something this dangerous?â Magnusâ face turned several shades darker with anger.
Natalia, standing beside him, was also consumed with worry. Her son was just eleven years old. How could he be involved in something so perilous?
Richard stood up and played back the surveillance footage on his desk monitor for Magnus and Natalia. âHe was leading the team tasked with tracking down the escaped kingpin. But the dealers were cunning. They injured a K-9 unit in the brush and managed to evade capture, then took to the sea on a boat. Jonas dove in after the yacht alone, and before he left, he issued a strict order â if the boat reached international waters, it was to be destroyed on sight, no chances taken with the criminals escaping.â
The video replayed the moment the missile struck the yacht. The vessel shattered instantly, its fragments thrown skyward before crashing into the sea amid a deafening roar and scorching sparks. It was a terrifying scene.
Natalia watched, and her heart was pounding. Her face turned ashen. She was barely able to stand. She slumped weakly into Magnusâ arms, tears streaming down her face. âHoney, Jonas, he...â
âDonât worry, heâll be okay,â Magnus soothed, patting her shoulder, though his own heart was in turmoil. The video showed the yacht being obliterated and people being thrown into the air. Their silhouettes plummeted into the water, causing huge splashes.
Magnus felt as if his heart had sunk to the ocean floor. Such a disaster would challenge even the most capable adult. Jonas was only 11 years old!
God willing, Jonas would somehow have made it out alive!
Seeing Natalia in inconsolable tears, Richard opened his mouth to comfort her but found himself at a loss for words. He looked apologetically at Magnus. âMagnus, rest assured, weâll step up the search. Weâll bring Jonas back.â
âIâd trust my own two hands over you lot!â Magnus spat out bitterly, taking Natalia by the arm as they stormed out. âDarling, weâll find him ourselves!â
Natalia, sobbing uncontrollably, followed Magnus out of Richardâs office.
Watching the distraught couple leave, Richardâs heart weighed heavy with worry. Jonas was his most promising protégé, and the last thing he wanted was for harm to come to him.
After they left, Magnus called James, instructing him to bring all available helicopters and manpower to the Statesâ coastline to search for Jonas.
Shocked by the news, James flew in from the UK, bringing with him all the resources he could muster to join the search effort.
Dozens of aircraft circled above the sea, with Natalia and Magnus in one of them, scouring every inch of the ocean surface, fearful of missing any sign of Jonas. But aside from the glittering waves and the remnants of the destroyed yacht, they found nothing.
Natalia, heartbroken, leaned against Magnus. Her voice sounded hoarse from crying. âHoney, what have I done to deserve this? My daughter was taken, and my son is missing. Why is fate so cruel to me? I regret it so much, why did I send Jonas here? It would have been better to keep him safe by my side! Oh, honey, why does tragedy always befall us?â
Magnus, already in agony over Jonasâ disappearance, felt even worse seeing Natalia in such pain. He wrapped his arms around her, whispering consolations, âDarling, itâs alright. Look how long weâve been searching without a trace of Jonas. No news is good news. I believe Jonas might well have escaped and been picked up by some fishermen.â
âReally? Is that true?â Natalia looked up at Magnus, desperate for a glimmer of hope.
Magnus nodded earnestly. âYes, trust me, darling. Our boy is smart and strong. Heâll be fine.â

He turned off the radio with difficulty and sat shoulder to shoulder with Natalia, gazing out at the sea, hoping the next moment would bring Jonas smiling back into their lives.
Following Magnusâ orders, James relayed the message, and the aircraft circling behind him began to widen their search over the vast blue expanse.
James gripped the controls of the lead helicopter, his mood plunging with the weight of the situation. He couldn't fathom how Jonas, the cream of the crop, could have just vanished into thin air. Deep down, James was desperate to help Magnus track down Jonas, but he knew the harsh reality all too well. A person missing over the vast expanse of the ocean had a slim chance of being found alive.
Just then, his phone burst into life with a ringtone. Seeing it was his wife Angela calling, he quickly picked it up. Angela's voice came through, laced with panic. "James, Vivian is missing. What do we do? What do we do?"
A jolt of alarm shot through James as he sensed Angela's helplessness. He tried to soothe her, "Don't panic, love. Have the butler join you and look around. Maybe she wandered off somewhere and lost track of time."
"No," Angela sobbed, "The butler and I have turned the whole mansion upside down, and there's not a single sign of Vivian. What do I do? James, what am I going to do?"
