CHAPTER 190
CEO
Nash frowned, his concern evident. âItâs clear that you passed out earlier. Itâs safer for you to get checked.â
Nina adjusted her clothes, her eyes fixed on the blood staining Nashâs hands. âI think you need the check-up more than I do.â She hurriedly got out of bed and added, âI just have a small cut on my neck. It just needs bandaging. Doctor, please attend to Mr. York first.â
Nash squinted at Nina, sensing that something was amiss. She seemed different, as if she were hiding something. She declined the check-up but then secretly went to a private hospital. What could she be up to?
The doctor, observing their disagreement, intervened. âMr. York, allow me to tend to your wounds first.â
Nash didnât respond directly to the doctor but instead questioned Nina, âYou donât want a check-up, yet you sneak off to a private hospital. Is there something youâre hiding from me?â His gaze grew cold once more, and his tone became distant.
Nina felt nervous on the inside but kept a calm exterior as she locked eyes with him. âI went to a private hospital for the sake of my personal privacy. However, now I donât feel the need for a check-up because Iâm fine.â
Nash didnât quite understand. âYouâre not a public figure, so why do you need privacy?â
Ninaâs mind raced as she quickly came up with an excuse. âLast time, I was live-streamed outside the company, which caused a big commotion. People even doxed me. Iâm worried, so I have reservations. Youâre overthinking, and I have nothing to hide from you.
âFurthermore, your suspicions were common in the past. Even if I stay in the hospital for a few days, youâd be too busy with work to notice.â
Nash pursed his lips upon hearing this, his gaze fixed on her. âAre you blaming me?â
âNo, Iâm stating facts,â Nina met his gaze directly. âThank you for saving my life today. Youâve helped me a lot, and Iâm grateful.â
Although her words lacked love, she genuinely felt thankful. Nash didnât appreciate the formal tone. He was her husband, and helping her in times of trouble was his duty.
But her words made it seem like he was just some stranger helping others in need.
True, she had handed him divorce papers, so in Ninaâs eyes, he was someone to be thanked.
Nashâs tone turned colder as he questioned, âDid you actually mean it when you handed the divorce papers to Miranda to give to me?â
Even though he was aware of the truth, he still sought confirmation, sometimes without even knowing what he hoped to hear.
Nina became tense. It was true that
she had prepared the divorce papers but they were not supposed to be delivered that day. They were meant to wait until their agreement expired.

However, Mirandaâs provocation that day caused Nina to lose control. Despite knowing they were on the same page, she acted out of character and handed the papers to Miranda directly. But that was no
longer important.
A few seconds later, she looked at Nash and maintained her composure. âYes, it was just a coincidence that day and it happened to be convenient,â she said casually.
He should have realized long ago
that she was no longer invested. Nash tightly clenched his fists, veins bulging on the back of his hands, and spoke again with an icy voice.
âNina, hearing you casually talk like this, âconvenientâ? In your eyes, I seem to have become nothing but trash.â
