Chapter 9
Love After Divorce
Chapter 9:.
Stella heard his voice and looked up.
The word ânoâ caught in her throat as she met his deep blue eyes. The man continued to stare at her, and on his face was written, âIt will not be accepted.â
Without waiting for her response, he walked over and settled into the black car parked beside the road. Her actions clearly indicated to him, âFollow me.â
Not only did he invite her to follow him, but he left two tall bodyguards stationed next to the car, watching her. Stella was speechless. She wondered, âIf I refuse, will they catch me and put me in the car?â
But anywayâ¦
Inside the carâ¦
When Stella got into the car, she gave her address to the driver and kept quiet. RK wasnât someone who liked to talk either, so the atmosphere inside the car was very quiet.
RK was sitting in the middle of the back seat, but Stella did her best to stay as far away from him as possible.
She sat near the door and maintained her posture as if she was looking out the window. Even without speaking, sitting next to this man was always torture for her.
She didnât speak at all but still felt as if someone was pressing a knife against her neck all the time. RKâs gaze was too strongâ¦.
As Stella felt suffocated, her phone rang.
âDing, dongâ¦â
Stella looked at the phone and saw that it was her best friend Emily. She answered and said, âHello.â
âHoney⦠When will you be back? The baby misses youâ¦â
But the voice coming from the other end of the phone wasnât Emilyâs; it was baby Adrianâs voice. Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of her sonâs voice.
She didnât want RK to know about Adrian, so she quickly covered the phone with her hand.
Then she glanced at the man next to her and noticed that his expression was still cold and indifferent. He had heard nothing. Stella let out a sigh of relief.
âHow could he suspect that I had a child? For him, I had already aborted the child then? He doesnât know that I gave birth in secret.â
Meanwhile, Adrian was still waiting for her response. As he was about to speak again, Stella said, âIâm on my way and will be home soon. Wait a bit.â
He kept his voice low and avoided uttering the word
âMommy.â Although he didnât know it, she still thought it best to avoid him as much as possible.
But the person on the other end didnât seem to have any intention of hanging up. He said cheerfully, âThen itâs okay. Iâll talk to Mommy on the phone so you wonât get bored on the way.â
Emilyâs voice, full of mock irritation, was as follows. âYou little rascal! Are you using my phone to talk to your mommy? How can you be so naughty? Trying to save money for her, are you?â
âYou only think of your mother; then what about me, your beautiful aunt?â
âAuntie, you just said you are my aunt but not my mother. Donât you know that blood is thicker than water? Of course, I will be on your side.â
Adrian looked at Emily and told her matter-of-factly as he shook his head. But when Stella heard his voice, she felt like they both wanted him to disappear.
The whole car was filled with their voices. If they kept this up, no matter how much she cried, it wouldnât be long before she was on display in front of him.
Stella scolded Adrian several times in her heart, but when she spoke, her tone was still calm. âYou donât need to do this. Iâll be back soon.
Eat, take a bath and go to sleep. There are too many people in the car anyway. I canât talk.â
When Stella finished talking, she hung up the phone and looked at RKâs reflection in the window. The man was looking at her out of the corner of his eyeâ¦.
Although there was darkness in the car, she still saw his cold blue eyes staring sharply at her. Silence resumed, but RK suddenly changed his attitude.
His cold voice reached her ears. âDo you think the car is full?â
He echoed her earlier words, clearly looking for trouble.
Stella bit her lip and replied, a little embarrassed, âNo, itâs not like thatâ¦â.
In her mind, she thought, This man is soâ¦. It was inconvenient to talk to her baby in front of him because she didnât want him to know about Adrian.
âYouâve been out of the country for six years â how does it feel?â
The manâs voice was low and calm. It was as if he were having an ordinary conversation with her, but his words were full of mockery.
âI am happy⦠very happy.â While she was with her baby, her life was full of joy, and every moment was precious. Adrian was everything in her life.
âHmmâ¦â
RKâs Adamâs apple bobbed up and down, and her response was evasive, as if she was just casually asking. If she didnât respond, he didnât much care.
âI hear youâre marrying my sister. Congratulations.â
Stella said in a cold tone. After her divorce six years ago, it was not impossible for her to limit herself to maintaining the relationship of boss and subordinate for the time being.
She had long since given up on him, and she no longer cared about the past; she wasnât going to stay anchored in her past. But this time, she got no response from him.
Not a single wordâ¦
Stella turned her head and looked in the manâs direction. She saw his deep, cold blue eyes staring at her. His gaze was very sharp, like a knife falling on her.
After a minute, she said, âDo you want me to get married?â His voice was cold. His blue eyes were so deep that it was hard for anyone to tell what he was thinking.
Stella pursed her lips. She didnât think she had said anything wrong. After all, it had been six years since he had divorced her to marry her sister Sophia, hadnât he?
âItâs not a question of whether I want them to get married,â Stella replied.
âItâs just that I donât think thereâs anyone else in X-City whoâs more eager than Mr. RK to marry her.â His lips curved into a smirk.
Why was he pretending like that? If not, why was he in such a hurry to marry Sofia and divorce her?
Stellaâs lips curved into a sneer. She felt like someone had poured a cup of bitter coffee into her heart. It was just that there was only bitterness, not sweetness.
