Chapter 48

A week later, everyone gathered in Dahlia's VIP room. Today is the day she gets discharged and free to go home.

"I can't believe I'll have you all to myself," Thalia squealed and hugged her. The doctor had her examined more carefully without leaving any details behind.

Matteo watched the two of them with jealousy, when he heard what Thalia said, he stomped to her and pulled Dahlia to himself.

"She can't stay with you, you are living with Diego, she will be intruding so she stays with me," he declared holding Dahlia protectively.

"I have already found a place to stay, I won't be staying with Diego for long," she said making Diego rise to his feet.

"What do you mean you won't be living with me? Do you want to be robbed again? A woman should not be staying all by herself," Diego said, his towering height loomed above her.

"Are you serious? I have been staying by myself for the past three years and if not for that burglar, I wouldn't have even thought of lodging with you," Thalia scoffed in protest.

"That burglar had a gun! I won't let you leave till I have found a safe and secure house for you, not that thing you call a house," Diego scowled at her.

Their parents stood at the far corner of the room watching with a smirk on their faces, maybe they didn't have to try harder afterall.

"Okay case settled, Dahlia goes with me and Thalia goes with you," Matteo said. Thalia wanted to protest but was dragged out by Diego.

"And Lacy stays with me," Lucas spoke from where he stood with Lacy.

"Finally Lucas has found his tesoro," Monica, Matteo's mother whispered smirking coyly and nudging her husband Ricardo on his arm.

"I'ho sentito!" Lucas muttered and shot them a killer look which Ricardo returned.

(I heard that!)

"What did that mean?" Lacy asked drawing his attention from Matteo's parents.

"Oh, I was just greeting them," he lied smoothly. Monica and Ricardo giggled sneakily obviously seeing through his lies.

A nurse walked into the rowdy room and told Matteo that he was needed at the doctor's office.

"Are you sure she's okay?" Matteo asked as soon as he entered the doctor's office.

"As healthy as a horse," the doctor grinned and handed the papers to Matteo who signed it hastily.

"Congratulations on your wife's health, I wish her speed recovery," the doctor said and shook hands with him. When he went back to the room, Diego and Thalia with Lucas and Lacy were gone.

"They left," his mom said leading Dahlia out of the room.

"Get well soon dear," Ricardo said and led his wife to their car.

"Thank you," she waved at their disappearing car. She climbed into the passenger seat of the Bugatti Veyron while Matteo climbed into the driver seat and drove off.

"The last time we came back from the hospital, you had amnesia...."

"I lied," she revealed making Matteo step on the brakes immediately.

"What?"

"Faked it," Dahlia said and bowed her head. "Sorry."

"You could have atleast told me about it," he sighed softly making her feel more guilty.

"Sorry,"

"Okay enough of the surprises, let's get you home to rest," he revved up the engine and sped off.

Three days later....

Matteo's POV

Today is the day Nathan stands trial for all the crimes he committed.

"Court arise!" And everybody stood up as the judge walked in and took her seat in her designated area.

Nathan was brought in to the cubicle where he would be tried, when the court went into session his lawyer fought tooth and nail to plead him guilty but the surprise I had install for them kept thwarting their plan.

There was no way in hell he was going scot-free.

The final trump card in my was played as my lawyer called the final witness to the stand.

"Miss Rita Jenson, please come to the stand," Rick my lawyer, called and Miss Jenson walked to the stand. I smirked upon seeing his expression.

"Miss Jensen, I am aware that you are his secretary, am I right?" Rick asked.

"Yes, I WAS his secretary but I am now the head of the company," Rita said proudly. Nathan's face turned ashen when he heard what she said.

After she testified against him with enough evidence, she surprised me by bringing her own findings in. As much as Nathan's lawyer tried to win the fight, it was hopeless because all the evidence showed proof of his hand in fraudulent activities and murder.

"The court with now take a fifteen minutes break."

Nathan was taken out of the room, Dahlia wrapped her hands around my waist hugging me.

"Are you alright?" She asked softly which warmed my heart.

"Yes love," I said and she stiffened, she has not gotten used to me calling her that. I was about to talk to her when my mom interrupted us.

"I can't believe we are finally helping her get justice," Mom sniffed wiping her eyes, dad held her shoulders comforting her.

"Everything will be okay, that bastard will surely go to jail," Dad said. Diego, Thalia, Lacy and Lucas joined us, they all came to the trial.

Fifteen minutes later, the jury finally reached a conclusion.

"For the crimes of fraud, murder and drug trafficking, you are sentenced to life imprisonment," the judge sounded the mallet and the court session ended.

"Court rise!" And everybody stood as the judge left. Dahlia squealed and hugged me, mom and dad shed a tear, Diego and Thalia hugged them to comfort them.

"I will kill you motherfucker, when I get out of the cell, I'll haunt you and your family," Nathan yelled and struggled with the officers.

"I would love to see you try," I sent a wink to him.

"And you bitch, you stole my company from me, I fucked you and dare take my company!"

"I saw an opportunity and took it, you can't blame me," she shrugged and sent him a flying kiss. Nathan broke out of their grip and lunged for her but the officers were quick to get him back in their clutches.

After Nathan was taken away, I felt a tap on my shoulders and turned to find Rita behind me.

"Thank you sir, for helping getting me the company and clearing it's name," she bowed slightly. I had helped her get the company and cleared it's name in exchange for her help in court.

"No need to thank me, you fulfilled you end of the bargain," I said and she smiled.

"If that's the case, I would like Mr Silvetti to invest in my company."

I nodded, "you need to show me what you got."

"Rest assured sir, I won't disappoint," she said and walked away.

"Let's go home," I said to Dahlia caressing her arm, she smiled and we left.
