The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn
The Unwanted Bride Of Atticus Fawn Chapter 12 ~AUTUMN~
âAre you going to stay in the car the entire time?â Griffin asks in a teasing manner.
We were at the beach, but I was contemplating getting out of the vehicle with the number of people I saw. I didnât think this was going to be a big party. Now I knew I was wrong.
I shook my head and got out even though I truly wanted to stay behind.
âIâll make sure you arenât uncomfortable.â He promised me as he guided me over to a group of girls. I already recognized them.
They were popular girls. Of course, Griffin would be friends with the most famous people in our school, just like his siblings.
âGood to see you.â He greets them. âIâm sure you all know my future sister-in-law, Autumn. And these girls need no introduction either.â
No, they didnât. The one smiling at me was Scarlett Mae, and next to her was her sister Clara.
Clara used to be the more popular one among the two sisters; in fact, Scarlett never really attended events like this, from what I knew about her. She reminded me a lot of myself. But all that changed when Carter Prince broke up with her sister Clara. They were the couple that everyone looked up to, but everyone always knew that Carter was never faithful to Clara. Iâm not sure how that changed Scarlett, but she soon started attending parties and school games; she was becoming more popular than her sister, especially since Carter seemed to have his eyes on her. That was gross; how could he be interested in Scarlett when he dated her sister? But that was not my business. Iâve learned to keep away from drama, especially like that.
âWeâve barely spoken in the past; Iâm sure we can be great friends,â Scarlett tells me.
âThat would be great since Autumn can do with some new friends after what happened with Anya,â Griffin adds.
Scarlett and Clara give each other a knowing look. Of course, everyone was already talking about it by their expressions, but I didnât expect anything different. I knew this would happen when I learned I would marry Atticus.
âYou donât need to feel uncomfortable around us.â Clara assured me.
âHow about we donât even bring that up,â Scarlett says.
Griffin grins, âI knew you girls were my safest option to introduce Autumn to. I told you I would make sure you werenât uncomfortable.â He reminds me.
He was right. Scarlett and her sister seemed nicer than I expected them to be.
âIâm going to meet a few guys from the team,â Griffin tells me as he walks over to the football players. I think this was one of their parties for winning yet another game.
âDo you want a drink, Autumn?â Clara asks me.
I shook my head. âI donât drink.â
She smiles, âScarlett doesnât either, but Iâm making sure she gets drunk today.â
âIs that the famous bride of Atticus Fawn?â Someone asks behind me.
Scarlett rolled her eyes as Amy joined us, âwhy do you show up everywhere we are?â
âI wasnât talking to you, darling. I was talking to the girl that stole her best friendâs boyfriend. But you should know plenty about that since youâre also stealing your sisterâs boyfriend.â
âEx-boyfriend.â Scarlett snaps. âAnd Iâm not stealing anyone. Neither did Autumn. Get your facts straight before you go speaking nonsense.â
âA little defensive?â Amy laughs.
âYouâre not wanted here, Amy.â Clara hissed. âLeave before we make you.â
Amy flips her hair and walks away.
âIâm sorry about her.â Scarlett apologizes. âSheâs a pain in our ass.â
âItâs okay,â I assure her. âI know this is something Iâll have to get used to now that Iâm marrying Atticus.â
âAre you sure you donât want that drink now?â Clara asks me.
I stared at the bottle in her hand; I could use a little stress reliever. Anything to make me forget what my life was turning into.
Atticus had left me while we were choosing engagement rings so that he could look after my best friend, his lover, and his mate.
Life was only about to get worse.
I grabbed the bottle out of Claraâs hand and took a big gulp, to her surprise. Scarlett takes it from me next and does the same.
âI thought I would have had to beg you two more than this.â Clara laughs as she watches us take turns.
I know I shouldnât be doing this, but I canât stop. I would deal with the consequences after.
. . . . . . . . .
~ATTICUS~
When I got home, I noticed that Griffin hadnât gotten home yet. Did he go somewhere else after dropping Autumn home?
âDid Griffin come home earlier?â I ask my sister Clarissa. She was adopted by my parents a few years ago and has been a part of our family since then. Weâve loved her as our own, and nothing will ever change that.
âNo.â She says, looking behind me for something or someone. âDid Damon not return with you?â
I chuckle, âwhy do I feel like youâre disappointed that itâs me and not him?â
Sheâs always been the closest with him, and my brother is also very protective of her. Other than Anya, she was the only other person heâs been so protective over.
âIs he here?â She asks with hopeful eyes.
I sigh, âsorry, Clarissa. Heâs with Anya. She got into a minor accident, and heâs staying with her.â
Her smile fades, and she turns to leave in disappointment.
âAre you sure Griffin didnât return?â I asked her before she could disappear.
She nods, âI think I heard someone say that he was going to a beach party.â
A beach party?
âWhich beach?â
âRadiant Bay.â She answers.
I pull my phone out of my pocket and dial his number. He doesnât answer at first, but after trying a second time, he finally does.
âWhatâs up, bro?â He asks.
I can hear the loud music blasting in the background. Was he drunk?
âDid you drop Autumn home?â I ask him.
There is a slight pause, âoh shoot. Was I supposed to drop her home?â
My body stiffens at his question. âDid you not pick her up as I asked you to do?â I demand.
âI did pick her up as you asked.â He assured me. âI just never dropped her home.â
âSo where the f**k is she, Griffin?â
He laughs, and I fail to see whatâs so damn amusing.
âSheâs with me at the party.â He answers me. âI sent you a video. Please take a look at it and donât call me again. Iâm having fun, and youâre ruining it with all your questions.â
Before I can say anything else, he hangs up. I click on his chat and open the video he sent to me. Iâm surprised when I see Autumn dancing on the sand barefoot. Her cheeks are red, and it takes me a while to realize that sheâs drunk.
This motherfucker. Did he get her drunk? As far as I knew, Autumn didnât drink. So then, what did they do to her? Griffin wasnât someone to let anyone take advantage of a girl. Maybe I was reading too much into it. But she was clearly drunk. The thought of some asshole trying to touch her sent my blood boiling.
My knuckles tightened into fists, and before I knew what I was doing, I was out in my jeep and racing towards the beach. I had to make sure that she was okay. Griffin could be drunk and not paying attention to her. There was no telling who was at that beach party.
I thought I could f*****g trust my brother to take her home safely. Instead, heâd taken her to a beach party and gotten her drunk for the first time in her life.
When I got there, someone had plenty of explaining to do!
