Jasper and Meave walked into the dorm room together, while William stood outside. He only turned and left after Jasperâs figure disappeared from his sight.
Meave was curious and asked, âHow are things between you and William?â
âWhat do you mean?â Jasper asked.
âI mean what was mentioned in the post today. You guys⦠um, didnât have a fight, did you?â Meave asked. âMany people in our class are saying that you must have had a fight with him.â
âWhy should I argue with William? The people in our class are so boring! William and I are actually on good terms,â Jasper said.
âSo, everything in that post wasnât true?â Meave asked.
Jasper pursed her lips and after a moment, she said, âI know exactly what kind of person William is.
Whoever posted that had bad intentions, but William will definitely find out who it was!â
Jasper was confident about this!
She didnât believe that someone who posted something like that couldnât be found out.
She didnât believe that someone who posted a message couldnât figure it out.
And only by finding that person can we truly know what their purpose was in posting such a message!
When Jasper returned to the dorm, as expected, his roommates Horea and Nina were also concerned about the matter and asked Jasper about what happened with William.
So, Jasper gave the same answer once again.
âI knew it! Mr. Barlow doesnât seem like a person with deep scheming thoughts!â Nina exclaimed.
âYeah, all that talk about revenge and retaliation, the person who posted that must have thought they were writing a novel!â Horea chimed in, âMaybe the person who posted it has some twisted thoughts in their own mind!â
âBut is Williamâs mother really a criminal?â Meave asked.
Horea and Nina also looked at Jasper curiously, clearly wanting to know the truth.
Jasper spoke seriously, âNo one can choose their birth. If you still consider me a friend in the future, I hope you wonât ask about this again.â
The three looked at each other for a moment, then Meave said, âYeah, no one can choose their birth. I shouldnât have asked about it with my big mouth!â
âYes, yes, donât ask, donât ask.â
âBy the way, can someone lend me their notes from the shared class today? I didnât take any notes during class!â Nina changed the subject.
âI lend to you,â Jasper said.
The four-person dormitory returned to its usual lively state, as if the little incident just now never happened.
The next day, when Jasper arrived in the classroom, all of her classmates were staring at her in unison.
In the eyes of many, there is sympathy, pity, ridicule, or even schadenfreude!
A few girlfriends approached Jasper with concern written all over their faces, saying, âJasper, donât be sad. No one could have predicted this! But luckily, Williamâs scheme has been exposed, and weâll be here for you from now on!â
âYeah, there are plenty of good guys out there in the world. Youâll definitely find someone better!â
âExactly, why hang yourself up on one tree? Weâll help you find someone new!â
The girls spoke eagerly, wishing they could become Jasperâs confidantes through this ordeal!
âWhen did I ever say that I was upset?â Jasper asked with a seemingly amused tone. âAnd as for Williamâs conspiracy, are you guys just being too imaginative or do you like to believe everything you hear? We are all college students here, we should at least have the basic ability to distinguish fact from fiction. Just because you read something online doesnât mean itâs true, right?â
