Grace sniffled. âKylaâs hospital report doesnât look too good. Due to Kylaâs pregnancy, her liver isnât working very well. She might need a liver transplant after she gives birth, butâ¦â
Jason said, âItâs the issue of finding a donor, isnât it? Martin Weiss wonât do it?â
Grace nodded. âBut itâs normal. His affection for Kyla isnât what it used to be. Besides, he has donated his liver before.
Itâs too dangerous for him to donate it again.â
One could say that he would be gambling on his life.
How many people in this world could risk their lives for another person?
âWeâll go back to Emerald City and find a solution. Maybe things wonât have to be that bad,â said Jason.
âBut if it comes to that and Kyla doesnât have the right liverâ¦â
Jason said sternly, âShe must have thought of that possibility. Everyone is responsible for their own decisions. Since Kyla made up her mind to give birth to the baby, she would probably have thought of the worst.ââ
Grace froze, then heard Jason continue, âSince things have come to this, it means that she thinks the price is worth it.â
Grace took a deep breath. âWorth it? Is it really worth it to Kyla?
âBut then again, didnât I think it was worth it when I was pregnant with the triplets? I was willing to bet my life on the survival of the triplets.
âMaybe thatâs what motherhood is like. Youâll be reluctant to let go of the little life in your belly no matter what!
âI was lucky to have survived with our three children,â
muttered Grace.
âYes, you were lucky. We were lucky.â Jason held Grace and said, âIâll protect you from now on. Iâll protect you with my life.ââ
Grace smiled slightly. Suddenly, her expression changed. slightly as she covered her mouth with her hand and her shoulders trembled. It looked like she was about to vomit.
Jason said, âWhatâs the matter? Are you okay?â
âIâm a little nauseous. Maybe itâs because I ate too much glutinous rice cake this morning and am having indigestion,â
she said.
He sighed helplessly at that. âI told you to eat less, didnât I? Youâll get easily bloated if you eat too much of that stuff.â
âItâs probably because I havenât eaten it for a long time, so I found it so delicious that I couldnât stop eating,â she said.
âDidnât you used to dislike such sickly sweet food?â Jason asked.
