Awoman, dressed provocatively, walked through the

Her voice, soft and trembling, made Geoffreyâs heart
ache.
âDonât be scared, darling. Iâm on my way. Iâll protect

âOkay, Iâll wait for you." Her voice was no longer
trembling but full of a smile.
Geoffrey had been going through files in his study, but

Polly looked up from her freshly done nails and
asked, concerned.
Geoffrey, realizing she was there, awkwardly replied,
"Just a bit of work. I need to meet someone about a
project. Donât wait up for me. Go to bed."
Polly smiled sweetly. "Youâre really busy. Make sure
you take care of yourself."
Geoffrey gave a nonchalant smile. "! will, love. Get
some rest. Iâll be back soon."
Before Polly could say anything else, he rushed out
the door.
The hurried departure caught Pollyâs eye, and it left
her feeling irritated. She smashed the wine glass in
her hand in frustration.
