Chapter 166-1
Not A Small-Town Girl
"Elliot, your wound is healing well," Danielle said. "David has captured Scorpion for you, and the entire drug trafficking group has been taken down too." If it werenât for the fact that Scorpion had to be handed over to Elliot, she would have tortured Scorpion for all his dirty tricks.
However, the industrial chain behind Scorpion was not so easy to take down. Danielle glanced at David.
He seemed to have noticed Danielleâs gaze and gave a doting smile.
Elliot gave David a surprised glance, thinking, âWe watched Scorpionâs organization for a long time, and this man took down Scorpionâs base the moment he acted.
âBesides Hades, he must have other identities. Itâs precisely because of this that he has many enemies, and danger is everywhere around him. I donât even know if itâs the right thing for my sister to be with someone like him.â
"Thank you," Elliot said, expressing his gratitude sincerely.
"You donât have to thank me," David said. "I just donât want Danielle to worry." He then thought, âHe keeps having his sister save him over and over. Well, Iâm really speechless. I just hope that the Darling family treats Danielle well.â
Elliot noticed Davidâs displeasure but didnât say anything more.
"Danielle, I heard about what happened at your school," he said. "Iâm sorry you had to go through that." He thought, âThis sister of mine is so well-behaved and sensible that it makes my heart ache. Once Iâm discharged from the hospital, Iâll have a good talk with Mom and Dad, asking them to send Audrey away.â
"I didnât suffer grievances," Danielle said indifferently. "David has already avenged me, and they have received their due punishment."
Elliot felt a pang of heartache upon hearing this. He thought, âIt seems that Danielle relies on David more than she does on us. Or maybe we havenât done a good job, making her so dependent on others.â
He then looked at Danielle with a smile and said, "Okay. Danielle, if you have something to take care of, go ahead. Iâm almost fully recovered."
Lydia chimed in just in time, "Yeah. Danielle, I will take good care of your brother. Donât worry."
âOkay, Elliot, rest up," Danielle said. "Lydia, Iâm leaving now."
She then walked out of the ward with Elliot.

âMiss Dixon, Belle didnât eat much today, and sheâs been listless," the nanny said, immediately reporting Belleâs condition when she saw Ruby return. "Should we take her to the hospital?â
Upon hearing this, Ruby hurried to Belleâs side without bothering to change her clothes and stroked Belleâs forehead, saying, "Belle, are you feeling unwell?"
She had just checked Belleâs temperature, and there was no fever.
âMommy, I want you to stay with me," Belle said. Small and fragile, she climbed over to her mother as soon as she saw Ruby return.
Ruby felt a pang of heartache, thinking, âIâve been so busy finding out Momâs whereabouts that Iâve indeed neglected Belle. Sheâs still so young. I really should spend more time with her.
âItâs all because of Emily, bombarding me with tons of calls a day to threaten me.â Seeing her daughter at this moment, all her worries disappeared.
âSweetie, Iâm sorry," she said. "Itâs Mommyâs fault. Iâll make you your favorite cereal, okay?â
Looking at her well-behaved daughter, Ruby felt a sense of warmth. She thought, âDeciding to deliver Belle back then was absolutely the right choice.â
âOkay, I want to eat cereal," Belle said with her big grape-like eyes sparkling as she clapped, her face full of excitement.
âMiss Dixon, let me do it," the nanny said. "You just came back, so keep Belle company." The nanny really liked Belle. âThis child is so cute,â she thought. âShe doesnât cry or make a fuss, and she is as well-behaved as a little angel.â
"Let me do it," Ruby said. "You play with Belle for a while." She looked at her well-behaved daughter and gave a kind smile.
A short while later, Ruby came out with a bowl of cereal and said, "Belle, Mommy will feed you cereal.â
"I want cereal," Belle said. She tossed her toys and stumbled toward Ruby.
Ruby caught Belle as she ran toward her, holding Belle in her arms. She then began feeding Belle cereal. After feeding her about half a bowl, Belle suddenly started vomiting.
She threw up all the cereal she had eaten, and then began to have a fever, her little face flushed.
