Chapter 164-1
Not A Small-Town Girl
Nathan knew that Danielle was no ordinary girl. She was skilled and had many identities, but Davidâs enemies were far too dangerous.
"Who says I can only be a weakness and not armor?" Danielleâs voice preceded her arrival.
She walked in, her expression calm today.
David was a little surprised that Danielle had arrived. He stood up from the sofa, the coldness in his eyes melting away instantly. It was filled with an overwhelming sense of tenderness in the next moment. "Miss me, huh?" he said, embracing Danielle.
"I wouldnât dare miss you as Iâm afraid of holding you back," Danielle said, pushing David away and sitting down on the sofa as she pouted.
Noticing that Danielle was angry, David shot Nathan a glare.
He then gently comforted her, saying, "How could that be? You are my armor."
Nathan, receiving his bossâs blaming gaze, hurriedly apologized. "Iâm sorry, Miss Darling," he said. "Thatâs not what I meant. I know youâre very capable. I was just worried that you would get hurt."
Danielle was not angry. She said indifferently, "Iâm not worried about those things. Youâre overthinking things. Iâm not a pushover."
"Was it you who sent someone to block Scorpion?" David asked, looking at Danielle affectionately with his attractive eyes.
"How did you know?" Danielle said. "Could it be that my people got hurt from fighting with yours?" She facepalmed, thinking, âI was careless. I thought David was simply capturing Scorpion. Unexpectedly, he took down the entire drug trafficking group. The people I sent this time happened to have never met Davidâs people.â
"Miss Darling, were the people blocking Patrick sent by you?" Nathan asked, feeling confused. He thought, âSo, both sides were injured from fighting their own people.â
Danielle said somewhat sheepishly, "Well, the people I sent this time didnât know yours."
She received a call on her way to Nathor Palace, saying that the people she sent were injured and had been taken by the other party. She was cursing while driving. It was only when David asked earlier that she realized what had happened. She was left speechless...
David rubbed Danielleâs hair and said with a chuckle, "Itâs a good chance to train their skills."
"Nathan thought, âMr. Charrington, do you even realize what you just said?â
"In a week, an organization under me has an assessment on a deserted island," David said casually. "Want to go and have a look?"
Nathan widened his eyes, thinking, âHeâs going over this year personally, taking his wife with him, no less. Well, he just wants to publicly display his affection.
âIt seems that Mr. Charrington really sees Miss Darling as one of his own. Heâs even taking her to the deserted island. He probably wants Demonic Hallâs people to know her identity and protect her from now on.â
âA deserted island?" Danielle said. She thought, âAs the name suggests, a deserted island is full of mountains and many poisonous plants. Itâs basically impossible to get out once people enter. Now, David says he has an organization on a deserted island. What kind of people could possibly be there?â
"Sure!" She agreed to come along.
Nathan thought, âThe people on the deserted island only recognize Mr. Charrington. Iâm really worried that once weâre there, something would happen to Miss Darling if Mr. Charrington isnât careful.â Nathan wanted to speak but stopped himself.
"Nathan, do you have something to say to me?" Danielle asked, noticing Nathanâs conflicted look.
Nathanâs face tensed up, thinking, âI managed my expressions well. How did she see through it?â
Facing David and Danielleâs gaze, Nathan gulped before biting the bullet to speak up.
"Miss Darling, the deserted island is a bit dangerous," he said. "Please protect yourself."
