Chapter 41-2
Not A Small-Town Girl
Jackson then told David, "Hades, this is Shadow."
David stared at Danielle and teased, "Shadow, Iâm impressed by what youâve achieved despite your young age. Itâs an honor to meet you."
Danielle replied, "The honor is mine."
She rolled her eyes internally and thought, âDavid is not that much older than me.â
Nathan still could not wrap his head around how Danielle became the boss of the Shadow Fortress at such a young age. The border was a dangerous place.
Nathan was shocked to see that Danielle had come with only a single subordinate. He wondered if Danielle had ever been concerned about her own safety. Her subordinate didnât look very powerful.
"Mr. Wulf, why did you invite us here?" David asked in a deep voice.
Jackson said, "Iâm sure the two of you have heard that members of the army have infiltrated this place. There are only a dozen of them.
"We, the factions at the border, have always been independent from the armyâs control. It wonât do us any good if the army sets up their base here. Why donât we join forces to deal with them?"
A hint of deception flashed across Jacksonâs eyes.
Danielle blinked. It seemed Jackson wanted to drag her and David down with him. The army had clearly come to raid the Wulf Clanâs research lab. Although only a dozen soldiers had come to the border, they were backed by the entire army force.
She thought, âJackson is cunning for trying to get us into his mess.
Danielle replied, "Mr. Wulf, how did you come to that conclusion? If the army wants to check out our places, so be it. It doesnât affect us much. Mr. Wulf, when did you become so weak? Why do you need our three factions to join forces just to deal with a dozen soldiers?"
Jackson was stunned. He persuaded, "Shadow, if the army establishes their presence here, we wonât be able to run our businesses freely. You want freedom too, right? Why donât we nip this in the bud?"
Danielle turned down Jacksonâs offer, saying, "My faction isnât doing anything illegal."
Meanwhile, Elliot and his comrades had gone to the research lab yesterday. It was heavily guarded. Hence, they planned to besiege the leader of the Wulf Clan today. Jackson seldom left the Wulf Clanâs base, and the army had no means of entering there. Therefore, today was a golden opportunity.
Just as Elliot and the army force were about to carry out their plan, they heard the sound of gunshot.
Bang!
Dozens of people in camouflage uniforms surrounded the auction hall with pistols. They looked savage.
The auction had just ended, and most guests were
