chapter 754: chapter 748: brain dead?

“based on the data i’ve collected, eliot arrived here about half an hour before we did,” luna said. “but after getting here, he didn’t do anything. he just ambled around the lounge. as soon as you arrived, your highness, he made a beeline for you. i suspect he knows who you are.” luna freely shared her findings, knowing that finn had his hands too full to inquire about eliot.

“it’s not wise to pick a fight with him before we know who is out to get you, your highness,” luna added. “if we back down, he wouldn’t dare to harm you.”

“you still don’t understand me,” finn responded dismissively. he then turned to eliot and said, “ever heard of a tortoise? in my home country, a ‘tortoise’ is a certain type of turtle. kind of slow, lives in the dirt, hasn’t seen much of the world. i can forgive you for being ignorant because your parents dared to let you out. but i really worry about you. get this, tortoise, you can apply for a membership card here. tora, go find your supervisor and tell him to come here right now. i want a membership card.”

tora williams quickly clenched her jaw, shrugging off her confusion. she hesitated briefly before running off to get her manager. the room fell silent during her absence. eliot didn’t speak, opting instead to stand there smirking, eagerly anticipating finn’s humiliation.

tora returned within a few minutes, a middle-aged man trailing in her wake. he quickly turned to finn and said, “sir, i’m the manager here. do you wish to apply for our membership card?”

if it hadn’t been for luna’s words, finn might not have chosen to provoke eliot. but since eliot came prepared to cause trouble, finn knew exactly who he was associated with. he wasn’t going to let eliot off the hook and decided to provoke him. however, finn was slightly surprised when eliot didn’t retort. despite his sullen face, eliot didn’t actually respond.

the man sighed in relief. such incidents were rare on his watch, occurring perhaps once a year. most people who frequented such a high-status establishment weren’t interested in causing a scene. not unless they had significant grievances at stake. seeing the card in finn’s hand cemented his impression of finn’s status. he, being an employee of star bank, knew exactly how important the card was. it couldn’t simply be put down to being ‘awesome.’ even the lowest ranking among the people holding such a card were distinguished members of the royal family. not just any members, mind you. they were direct heirs.

apart from the strictly controlled issue of status, there were additional requirements based on property and wealth, with a minimum net worth of 100 billion star credits. other conditions were esoteric and beyond his understanding. all he needed to know was that the card was highly coveted. compared to the silver wing membership card, it was far less common. there are countless silver wing membership cards. more importantly, ownership of the star bank card automatically encompassed the highest level of membership for every organization under the star group.

“sir, you don’t actually need to apply for a membership card. owning this bank card entitles you to the highest level of membership in all our star group enterprises. so you can directly purchase any goods here,” said the middle-aged man respectfully. after a hesitation, he inquired softly, “may i ask your name, sir?”

“finn lewis,” finn replied, stating his name.

“pleased to meet you, your highness. my name is nasha. you can call me ‘grain,'” the man, or rather ‘grain’, responded. finn nodded. after entering the galactic federation, he learned that the primary language was a very ancient one, originating from flame nation. regardless of its origin, everyone communicated in the same language since there were translation devices available, thus eliminating any language barrier.
