Chapter 969 - 967: Mu Chengxi Gets Angry at Wen Xin for the First Time

Qian Meng looked at Mu Chengxi’s movements and felt a surge of wanting to vomit blood, but Wen Xin didn’t give him the chance to do so, merely raising an eyebrow at him.

“You didn’t come over just to be fed dog food, did you?” she asked.

Listening to Wen Xin’s question, Qian Meng’s brows involuntarily furrowed tightly, and he exhaled deeply, “I came to tell you that the preparations are already done. I’ve contacted Moore already, and there will be someone to meet us at the port when we arrive.”

Wen Xin nodded absentmindedly, showing little reaction to what Qian Meng had said.

Watching Wen Xin’s indifferent demeanor, Qian Meng wanted to say something more but didn’t speak. He seemed to have guessed that Wen Xin had made her own decision.

After breakfast, Wen Xin and Mu Chengxi went to Old Madam Mu’s courtyard to inform her that they were leaving Beijing for Independent State. Old Madam Mu was not too surprised.

“I always knew that one day you would face those issues. I just didn’t expect the time to come so quickly. Go with reassurance. You don’t need to worry about the affairs of the Mu family. With your father there, the Mu family will hold up.”

Upon hearing Old Madam Mu suddenly mention Mu Jinyan, Mu Chengxi’s brow slightly creased. His father had long stopped handling the affairs of the Mu family; what could he possibly do now?

Without waiting for Mu Chengxi to ask, Old Madam Mu already noticed the confusion on his face. She changed her position on the sofa and smiled gently at Mu Chengxi.

Old Madam Mu watched Mu Chengxi’s expression and sighed softly. She knew it was time to reveal the secret that had been hidden for many years.

But as time passed, that operation needed someone in charge. Your grandfather didn’t want too many people to know, so he secretly discussed it with your father and let your father take over the operation.”

Old Madam Mu’s sharp gaze continued to watch Mu Chengxi, hoping to see some reaction on his face that showed he understood the ordeals his grandfather and father went through,

Wen Xin could tell that something was off with Mu Chengxi’s emotions; she reached out and took his hand, calling his name with a gentle tone.

“Mu Chengxi, are you okay?” she asked.

When Mu Chengxi heard Wen Xin calling him, he snapped back to reality and turned his head to look at her, “What’s wrong?”

Seeing Mu Chengxi’s slightly reddened eyes, Wen Xin knew he was restraining some emotions. She blinked at him.

It was that moment, Mu Chengxi’s gaze intensely fixed on Wen Xin. Without looking closely, it was completely impossible to notice anything amiss about her.

Wen Xin raised her head and showed Old Madam Mu a relieved smile, “Grandmother, you can be at ease. I’ve already arranged for people to protect you. As long as they are here, the Mu family will be safe. I have some things to take care of, so Mu Chengxi and I will be leaving first. We will come back tonight to join you for dinner.”

Before Old Madam Mu could say anything, Wen Xin pulled Mu Chengxi away from Old Madam Mu’s courtyard.

Back in her own courtyard, without seeing Mu Chengxi anywhere, Wen Xin saw several people sitting in the teahouse and sighed lightly. It seemed Mu Chengxi was truly angry.

Mu Bei came out from the teahouse, surprised to see only Wen Xin there, “Miss Wen and Master Xi left together, why didn’t they come back together?”

“Miss Wen… where is Master Xi? We still have things we need to discuss with him…”

“He went out. If you have something to discuss, call him. Also, tell him that I’m still waiting for him to go to the Independent State together. Tell him to come back soon!”
