Chapter 941
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
Chapter 941 Lend Him A Hand
When Caleb saw his sister was leaving, he shouted, âSophie! I know youâre disappointed in us, but
weâre still your family no matter what. Visit us when you can As nice as the outside world is, itâs
ultimately not her
home.
âAll right, I wonât say anything about it anymore. I know you donât like to hear these.â I know Mom and
Dad and Willow did a lot of bad things to Sophie. I understand her refusal to return home.
âI hope youâll be happy after marrying Mr. Tristan!â No matter what, sheâs still my sister. Mom doesnât
like her because of her aloof personality.
âYou take care of yourself. Iâll be returning home now. Sophie was unwilling to say much because she
wasnât a magnanimous person. Some damage can never be repaired once inflicted. It canât be resolved
with a single apology.
While watching her leave, Caleb still felt sad. Perhaps this wouldnât have happened if I had cared a little
more about her. I didnât do a good job as a big brother.
Charmaine hadnât slept when he returned home.
Upon seeing him, she rose from the couch and asked, âWhy are you back so late? Have you eaten?â
She noticed his injuries when she approached him and inhaled sharply. âWhat happened? Who did this
to you?â
Caleb didnât want his mother to spot his wounds because he had always appeared confident in front of
his family.
However, it was difficult for him to accept his latest state.
âIâm fine, Mom. Iâm tired. Iâm gonna go and get some rest. Obviously, he didnât want to speak too much
on the matter. He felt too embarrassed to mention his issues as a man.
Grabbing his hand, Charmaine prevented him from ascending the stairs. âIf you canât work at the
research institute, then go to Tanner Group! Iâll ask Sophie to hire you.â I doubt he can make much
money working at the research institute anyway. He has a brighter future in a company like Tanner
Group, which is improving by the day.
âI told you, Mom. Iâm not interested in Tanner Group, so stop bringing it up.â Caleb promptly went
upstairs.
Charmaine tried to chase after him, but Willow blocked her path. âStop it, Mom. Heâs not in a good
mood. Let him be for a while.â
âWhat is up with you all? Do I owe you two something? Why do you all take your anger out at me when
youâre in a bad mood?â Arenât I doing this for their own good?
Seeing that her mother was upset, Willow apologized, âIâm sorry, Mom.â She had become a lot more
cowardly compared to before.
That sight of Willow enraged Charmaine even further. âWhy are you acting like this? This isnât how you
behave in the past!â She has changed. I donât have any hope for her anymore.
âIâm sorry for disappointing you, Mom.â Willow lowered her head further. What can I do! Neither Sophie
nor Tristan is someone I can afford to mess with! My current hope is that I can stay here without
trouble. I really donât want to think about anything else.
Charmaine waved her hand. âYou should go and get some rest too.â If Caleb insists on joining the
research institute, perhaps Sophie can help out. Our familyâs social network is probably incomparable
to hers by this point. For my son, Iâm willing to beg her for help.
The next day, she visited the University of Medicine because she knew Sophie studied there. However,
after waiting for the whole morning, she didnât see her daughter at all.
When noon arrived and the students left their classes, Charmaine spoke to one of them. âAre you a
first- year student? Do you know someone called Sophie? Did she attend classes today?â
âSophie? Sophie Tanner? Everyone in the school knows who she is! Sheâs currently a fourth-year
student because she skipped grades. Sheâs a genius, so she doesnât attend her classes every day.
Who are you by the way? Why are you looking for her?â
âWhat? Fourth year?â Charmaine was astonished. I know Sophieâs good, but I didnât think she was this
good. Itâs unbelievable she managed to skip grade all the way to the fourth year!
It was then Simon and Sandra approached them. The student who Charmaine questioned turned to the
duo and asked, âArenât you close with Sophie, Simon? This lady is looking for her.â
Simon and Sandra walked up to Charmaine.
They had no idea who the middle-aged woman was because they had never met her.
âWho are you? Why are you looking for Sophie?â asked Sandra. Iâve never seen her around Sophie
before.
âIâm her mother,â answered Charmaine. âDo you know where she is?â
âMother? Iâve never heard Sophie mentioning her mother.â Simon narrowed his eyes. This woman
doesnât look nice.
âI really am her mother, and I need to speak with her. Can you take me to her?â
âSimon!â exclaimed Sandra. We do need to head to the medical association later, but we donât know
who this lady is, so thereâs no way we can bring her there. âIâm sorry, but we donât know where Sophie
is, Maâam. If you really do need to speak to her, I suggest you call her directly! Since youâre her mother,
you should have her phone number, right?â
Charmaine grimaced. Iâd call her if I could, but she blocked me!
âIâm sorry, Maâam. We have matters to attend to, so weâll be leaving now.â Sandra dragged Simon
away.
Charmaine felt embarrassed and remorseful. She had never thought that Sophie would lead such a
good life.
She returned home dispiritedly, as she didnât know where to locate Sophie.
When Simon arrived at the medical association and met Sophie, he informed her, âYour mom went to
the University of Medicine to look for you. We met her after class.â
âMy mom?â It had been so long since Sophie had met her mother that she almost forgot who
Charmaine was. âAh, I see.â
Seeing that Sophie didnât seem to be interested in speaking further about the matter, Simon didnât say
much.
After all, everyone has their secrets, and he was just her friend. He wouldnât ask her about it if she
didnât want to say.
Upon returning to the laboratory, Sophie called the Institute of Physics. When the person in charge of
the institute learned who the caller was, he immediately stood up.
âI would like to introduce someone to the Institute of Physics. I can visit there occasionally.â Since
Caleb loves research, I should lend him a hand.
âAll right, Ms. Tanner. Youâre free to bring that person here whenever youâre available.â While the
Institute of Physics is never lacking in members, it still needs talented figures like Sophie.
