Chapter 748
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
âSo?â She wasnât afraid.
âAnglandurâs always been interested in talents like you. Theyâll definitely come looking for you and try
to make you stay. If you refuse, they might not let you leave so easily.â Anglandurns could come up
with every excuse imaginable.
âHa.â
Sophie scoffed. If she wanted to leave, no one could ever get in her way.
âI understand. Itâs getting late, so you should go back and get some rest. Whatever it is, we can talk
about it tomorrow.â
It wasnât wise to cross her.
âOkay. Donât stay up too late or spend too much time on the phone. The radiationâs not good for you,â
Arius reminded, aware that Tristan would surely call her.
âGot it.â
Expectedly, Tristanâs phone call came the moment Arius left. Judging from how the formerâs hair was
still wet, he must have just gotten out of the shower.
âWhy didnât you dry your hair? Youâll catch a cold easily,â Sophie couldnât help but nag.
The heater kept his room warm, but he could still get sick easily.
âItâs fine.â
Tristan put his phone aside and began drying his hair with a towel.
âHave you had dinner?â
âYup.â
Sophie watched the man who had just taken his shower wipe his hair with the towel. He really is
gorgeous.
Tristan had nothing but a robe on, and the sash appeared to have been tied around his waist with
minimal effort. Despite the simplicity, she couldnât take her eyes off him.
It didnât take long for the manâs short hair to stop dripping beads of water.
âWhatâs wrong? What are you thinking about?â Seeing her remain silent, Tristan tossed his towel aside.
âNothing. I just canât believe such a handsome man like you exists.â The womanâs lips curved.
âDonât try to charm me, Sophie. Youâre so far away from me right now. If you keep this up, I might not
be able to resist going over to you.â
Sophieâs smile widened.
âOkay, then. Come on over!â
âHmph. You know itâd be dawn by the time I get there, missy.â
This young lady is becoming increasingly puckish.
âBy the way, youâll be heading over to the International Medical Association tomorrow, right?
Remember, call me right away if anything happens,â the man added.
He wasnât completely powerless when it came to dealing with Anglandur.
He could easily bring them back home if he wanted.
âOkay. I will.â
âAll right. I know youâre tired. Go take your shower.â Despite not wanting to hang up, he knew she
needed rest.
âOkay.â
âDonât end the video call. Iâll wait for you here.â
âGot it!â
Sophie positioned her phone in a way that captured her movements before grabbing her clothes and
heading into the bathroom.
Tristan would then glance at his screen from time to time while sorting out his mail.
It was a quick shower, and Sophie re-emerged less than twenty minutes later in a set of pajamas with a
towel wrapped around her hair.
Tristan gulped subconsciously when he saw her. Then, he couldnât help but smile upon realizing what
he had done.
Why was a man in his thirties like him getting all flustered like a teenager in love?
âItâs late. You should get ready for bed.â Sophie still had to dry her hair and figured he wouldnât be able
to hear her speak while she used the blow dryer anyway.
âItâs fine. I still have some things to take care of. Donât mind me.â
âOkay.â
With that, the woman went to dry her hair.
When she was done, she opened up her laptop and hacked into the International Medical Associationâs
system to view the buildingâs floor plan.
As they would be heading there tomorrow, she had to memorize the floor plan so they could escape in
case anything were to happen.
âAll right, itâs getting pretty late, so get some rest,â Tristan urged, prompting Sophie to carry her phone
to bed.
âDonât miss me too much. Iâll be back in two days,â she remarked while still holding onto her phone.
âOkay. Have a good rest. Good night.â
Tristan ended the call reluctantly.
If only she were by his side now.
Unfortunately, she wasnât. All he could do was hope she would sleep well and deal with whatever might
happen tomorrow.
Right after hanging up, Sophie realized that someone had snuck into her room. She remained seated
on her bed and didnât budge.
âCome on out,â she demanded.
Upon hearing her voice, Nicholas walked out of a corner with a huge smile on his face.
He wosnât completely powerless when it come to deoling with Anglondur.
He could eosily bring them bock home if he wonted.
âOkoy. I will.â
âAll right. I know youâre tired. Go toke your shower.â Despite not wonting to hong up, he knew she
needed rest.
âOkoy.â
âDonât end the video coll. Iâll woit for you here.â
âGot it!â
Sophie positioned her phone in o woy thot coptured her movements before grobbing her clothes ond
heoding into the bothroom.
Triston would then glonce ot his screen from time to time while sorting out his moil.
It wos o quick shower, ond Sophie re-emerged less thon twenty minutes loter in o set of pojomos with o
towel wropped oround her hoir.
Triston gulped subconsciously when he sow her. Then, he couldnât help but smile upon reolizing whot
he hod done.
Why wos o mon in his thirties like him getting oll flustered like o teenoger in love?
âItâs lote. You should get reody for bed.â Sophie still hod to dry her hoir ond figured he wouldnât be oble
to heor her speok while she used the blow dryer onywoy.
âItâs fine. I still hove some things to toke core of. Donât mind me.â
âOkoy.â
With thot, the womon went to dry her hoir.
When she wos done, she opened up her loptop ond hocked into the Internotionol Medicol Associotionâs
system to view the buildingâs floor plon.
As they would be heoding there tomorrow, she hod to memorize the floor plon so they could escope in
cose onything were to hoppen.
âAll right, itâs getting pretty lote, so get some rest,â Triston urged, prompting Sophie to corry her phone
to bed.
âDonât miss me too much. Iâll be bock in two doys,â she remorked while still holding onto her phone.
âOkoy. Hove o good rest. Good night.â
Triston ended the coll reluctontly.
If only she were by his side now.
Unfortunotely, she wosnât. All he could do wos hope she would sleep well ond deol with whotever might
hoppen tomorrow.
Right ofter honging up, Sophie reolized thot someone hod snuck into her room. She remoined seoted
on her bed ond didnât budge.
âCome on out,â she demonded.
Upon heoring her voice, Nicholos wolked out of o corner with o huge smile on his foce.
He was truly elated to finally get to see her after so long.
On the other hand, Sophie was clearly unamused to see someone who wasnât supposed to be here
there in her room.
âDo you feel glad to see me, Sophie?â
The woman scoffed.
âYou tell me. How do you think Iâd feel about seeing you? Havenât you been clear on this all along?â
Nicholas plopped himself onto the couch.
âDonât say that. You can just treat me as an old friend dropping by for a chat. Thereâs no need for you to
have your guard up like that. Iâve never wanted to hurt you. I love you!â
Sophie was speechless.
Love? I donât want a sick love like this.
âAre you done, Nicholas? If you are, then get out of here now!â She had never cared about this manâ
not in the slightest.
âNo, Sophie. They all say Iâm sick, but I donât think thatâs true. I just love you too much, thatâs all! You
know that, right? I know Iâll be fine as long as youâre with me!â Nicholas replied in despair. âYou wonât
hate me, will you? I love you so much!â
âIf youâre sick, go see a doctor instead of bothering me!â Sophie only had a robe on, so she wouldnât be
able to engage in combat very well.
Nicholas stood up and began walking toward her.
âI donât need a doctor. Even if I do, youâre the only one I want, Sophie. Or you could keep me company
whenever I visit the doctor! I might stop bothering you if I get better, you know?â
Wouldnât this be an irresistible offer?
The woman glared at him.
She never liked being threatened.
âYouâve fallen in love with the wrong person, Nicholas. I told you, I donât care whether youâre dead or
alive. In fact, Iâd be more than happy to kill you!â
With that, she whipped a gun out from underneath her pillow and aimed it directly at the manâs
forehead.
It had been a while since she last used this gun, but it felt the same as always in her hands.
A bitter smile formed on Nicholasâ face.
âDo you really not care about me at all? Why are you so cruel to just me? Are you that heartless,
Sophie? Canât you feel the love I have for you?â
He began to lose control of his emotions.
