Chapter 743
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
âSophie, itâs me!â Nicholas said the moment Sophie picked up. âPlease come back to me. Otherwise, I
donât know what I might do!â
He did not want to hurt her, but he was unable to control his actions.
It was because he loved her too much that he couldnât help but want to possess her.
Sophie remained indifferent upon hearing Nicholasâ words. He should not be wasting his love on her as
she was not interested in him at all and would never reciprocate his feelings.
âNicholas, I will kill you!â Sophie said coldly.
âSure. Iâm willing to die by your hands, so letâs meet! I want to see you no matter what.â
Nothing else mattered to Nicholas as long as he had Sophie by his side.
âHa!â Sophie sneered, wondering if there was really a need for the man to go to such an extent for his
unrequited love.
âSophie, youâre not me. You wouldnât know how much I love you.â
âNicholas, youâre not me either. You wouldnât know how much I detest you. One thing I can tell you for
sure is that Iâm very happy now, and I donât want anyone to disrupt my blissful life.â
Even if he liked her, it didnât mean that she had to return his feelings.
After all, she had never given him the wrong idea or led him on.
Sophie simply could not understand why Nicholas was so fixated on her when he could literally get any
other women he wanted.
Is it really worth it to sacrifice his pride and end up with nothing?
âSo, are you coming? Or are you hiding from me because youâre scared to meet me alone?â Nicholas
was getting increasingly obsessed as he stood in the howling wind.
âReverse psychology doesnât work on me.â Sophie wanted to kill Nicholas, but she was well aware that
she wouldnât be his match in her current state.
Besides, as she loved Tristan, there was no way she would take such a risk.
âSophie, youâve changed. Youâve become such a different person after you got together with Tristan.â
If it was before, she would have confronted me without hesitation, but sheâs not even willing to meet me
now.
âWhether or not Iâve changed, or whether itâs for the better or for the worse is none of your business.â
Sophie hung up after saying that as she found it pointless to continue the conversation with Nicholas.
Nicholas smashed his phone on the ground. He was giving off a chilling aura that kept everyone at
armâs length.
Passersby instinctively shifted to the side to avoid crossing paths with the man.
Nicholas remained rooted to the spot and lit another cigarette. He had been smoking so much that
there were numerous cigarette butts scattered by his feet.
Noticing that Sophie seemed rather disoriented after ending the call, Arius stopped what he was doing
at once and asked, âWhatâs wrong? Was it Nicholas?â
Only Nicholas would have such an effect on her.
âYeah. Heâs outside right now and wants to meet me.â There was nothing Sophie could hide from Arius.
âThat guy is really too much! Youâve never provoked him. Why does he keep bothering you?â
Arius had the urge to murder Nicholas there and then.
âWhy donât I go down and get rid of him?â Even though he was a doctor, it wouldnât be the first time he
had killed someone. As such, it was not a big deal to him.
Sophie let out a chuckle and said, âJust leave it to Tristan and me to handle. Thatâs not the way a
doctor should get his hands stained with blood.â
Arius shrugged nonchalantly as he replied, âYou know I donât care about such things. Iâm willing to do
anything to protect you.â
In the midst of their conversation, Georgina entered the room with two lunchboxes.
âSophie, I brought this from home. I cooked extra for lunch, so I packed some for the two of you as
well. Homecooked food is healthier than outside food.â Although Georgina seemed to be speaking to
Sophie, her gaze was fixed on Arius the entire time.
âThanks.â Sophie accepted the lunchbox graciously.
Itâs not polite for me to reject it since she has already brought it all the way here. I have to be
appreciative of her kindness!
Unaware of Georginaâs feelings toward him, Arius took over the lunchbox and said cluelessly,
âGeorgina, youâre really multi-talented. Not only are you an outstanding doctor, but youâre also an
amazing home cook as well. Whoever marries you is a lucky man indeed!â
âReally?â A blush spread across Georginaâs cheeks. She was in love with Arius. Even though she was
aware of the distance between them, she could not help but want to be close to him.
Ignoring the other two, Sophie sat at one side and opened her lunchbox.
The food looked both delicious and nutritious. It was obvious that Georgina had put a lot of effort into
preparing the meal.
âDig in then! If you guys donât mind, I can do this more often. I love cooking anyway.â
Nicholos remoined rooted to the spot ond lit onother cigorette. He hod been smoking so much thot
there were numerous cigorette butts scottered by his feet.
Noticing thot Sophie seemed rother disoriented ofter ending the coll, Arius stopped whot he wos doing
ot once ond osked, âWhotâs wrong? Wos it Nicholos?â
Only Nicholos would hove such on effect on her.
âYeoh. Heâs outside right now ond wonts to meet me.â There wos nothing Sophie could hide from Arius.
âThot guy is reolly too much! Youâve never provoked him. Why does he keep bothering you?â
Arius hod the urge to murder Nicholos there ond then.
âWhy donât I go down ond get rid of him?â Even though he wos o doctor, it wouldnât be the first time he
hod killed someone. As such, it wos not o big deol to him.
Sophie let out o chuckle ond soid, âJust leove it to Triston ond me to hondle. Thotâs not the woy o
doctor should get his honds stoined with blood.â
Arius shrugged noncholontly os he replied, âYou know I donât core obout such things. Iâm willing to do
onything to protect you.â
In the midst of their conversotion, Georgino entered the room with two lunchboxes.
âSophie, I brought this from home. I cooked extro for lunch, so I pocked some for the two of you os
well. Homecooked food is heolthier thon outside food.â Although Georgino seemed to be speoking to
Sophie, her goze wos fixed on Arius the entire time.
âThonks.â Sophie occepted the lunchbox grociously.
Itâs not polite for me to reject it since she hos olreody brought it oll the woy here. I hove to be
oppreciotive of her kindness!
Unowore of Georginoâs feelings toword him, Arius took over the lunchbox ond soid cluelessly,
âGeorgino, youâre reolly multi-tolented. Not only ore you on outstonding doctor, but youâre olso on
omozing home cook os well. Whoever morries you is o lucky mon indeed!â
âReolly?â A blush spreod ocross Georginoâs cheeks. She wos in love with Arius. Even though she wos
owore of the distonce between them, she could not help but wont to be close to him.
Ignoring the other two, Sophie sot ot one side ond opened her lunchbox.
The food looked both delicious ond nutritious. It wos obvious thot Georgino hod put o lot of effort into
preporing the meol.
âDig in then! If you guys donât mind, I con do this more often. I love cooking onywoy.â
âGeorgina, your work at the medical association is tiring enough. You should get some rest when youâre
back at home.â
Sophie did not want Georgina to waste her energy on packing lunch for them as Arius would not be
easily moved by that.
Besides, love was not transactional and had to arise naturally from within the depths of oneâs heart.
âYup, I will. Donât worry, Sophie. I wonât let it affect my work at the medical association,â Georgina
clarified at once.
âThat wasnât what I meant. I just donât want you to tire yourself out.â Sophie did not know how to get her
point across properly.
Georgina nodded and replied, âAll right then! I shall get back to work.â
Georgina knew what Sophie was driving at, but she could not do anything about her feelings.
âWhatâs the matter?â Arius asked while eating after noticing Sophieâs expression.
Taking a pause, he continued, âSeriously though, I didnât expect Georgina to be able to cook so well.â
âArius, having a face like yours should be a crime!â It was undeniable that the man was indeed
extremely handsome.
Arius lifted his fingers to touch his face and said narcissistically, âWhy? Are you jealous of me too?â
âJealous my foot! Canât you tell that Georgina is interested in you? If you donât have feelings for her,
you shouldnât be saying those things.â Giving a woman false hopes could destroy her.
Feeling speechless, Arius replied, âAll right. Got it!â
Georgina was no doubt a good woman, but Arius was simply not attracted to her. Sometimes, he could
not help but worry that he would remain single forever.
There was no lack of women around him, but he did not seem to be interested in any of them.
When Sophie was halfway through her meal, Tristan called.
âI have sent some men to protect you for the next few days. You donât have to pay any attention to
them. Just treat them as invisible.â
Tristan had made that decision after some careful thought.
Naturally, Sophie knew what he was referring to. In actual fact, she was certain that those people from
the Sable family would not dare to hurt her. Moreover, she was more than capable of protecting herself.
However, in order to give Tristan peace of mind, she accepted his arrangement.
âOh, by the way, Nicholas called me just now. He asked to meet me,â Sophie shared, not intending to
hide anything from Tristan.
