Chapter 602
Changing only for her (Sophie and Tristan)
It was obvious that Willow had overheard their conversation as she confidently strode down the stairs.
Yale instinctively turned to look at her.
âWhat can you do?â He did not believe that she would be able to do anything now.
âDad, trust me for the very last time. I can do it.â An unfathomable glint flashed past her eyes. She
looked rather frightening.
âWilla, can you tell us what youâre going to do? If you want us to trust you, you have to let us know
about your plans!â
There was no such thing as blind trust in this world.
âMom, just trust me. There is nothing else you can do, even if you donât believe me, right?â
Since they couldnât do anything, their only choice was to trust her! She was confident she could
succeed this time.
Yale and Charmaine exchanged glances and nodded in the end.
It was the truth that they couldnât do anything about Sophie even if Tristan was not by her side.
âYou must then exercise caution. You are well aware of Mr. Tristanâs temper. He will never let you off
the hook if he discovers your scheme.â
They were all afraid of Tristan. As a result, they failed to make any progress with their schemes.
âI understand. Donât worry about me.â
Willow smiled confidently.
Clayton really helped me out. Sophie wonât be able to see whatâs coming this time!
Charmaine couldnât help but feel worried upon seeing Willowâs smile.
Nevertheless, she did not know what she could do.
âLook at Willa. She wonât do anything rash, right?â Charmaine asked. Willow and Sophieâs relationship
was already irreparable.
If she truly did something horrendous to Willow, it would only complicate matters further because they
would be unable to explain it to Tristan.
âAll right! Letâs go to sleep! Itâs her freedom to do whatever she wants. We donât know anything!â Caleb
replied. It would be great if Willow succeeded in her plan. If she failed, it would be her own fault and
has nothing to do with anyone else.
Charmaine questioned, âSheâs your daughter. Do you not even care about her in the slightest?â
âI want to care about her, but do I have the right to do that? Who gave me the right to do that?â
Itâs not as if Charmaine has an idea, either.
The following morning, everyone drove behind the hearse that was carrying Josiahâs body to the
crematorium.
This was Josiahâs final request.
He chose to be cremated.
Morgan also came, dressed in black. He looked disheveled and tired as if he had aged a lot.
Josiahâs comrades, who used to fight on the same battlefield, came to send Josiah off for the last time.
Once they saw Morgan, they began weeping with him. Josiah had been a kind person his whole life, so
many people could not get over his death.
Everyone was heartbroken at the moment.
Nevertheless, Morgan was starting to come to terms with Josiahâs death.
âMorgan, what do you plan to do after this?â Morgan had been by Josiahâs side his whole life. Where
could he go after Josiahâs death?
âAfter matters pertaining Old Mr. Tannerâs funeral are settled, Iâm returning home.â He had been by
Josiahâs side his whole life.
Now that Josiah had passed on, he did not have any attachments anymore.
âAh, Josiah was a good person, but it seems his son canât accept you. If you face any difficulty, you can
always come and see us!â
Since they used to be comrades, they did not wish for Morgan to be at witsâ end.
âDonât worry about me. I can take good care of myself!â Today, I only wish to send my best buddy off for
the very last time. Then, Iâll no longer need to worry about him anymore.
Sophieâs eyes welled up with tears as she saw Josiah being pushed into the furnace and coming out in
an urn, but she tried her best to keep a smile on her face.
âGrandpa, goodbye! We will live well!â Sophie tried to sound nonchalant.
There were many people present to send Josiah off on that day.
Their eyes reddened when they saw Sophie carrying Josiahâs urn.
Josiah was really gone. He was no longer present in this world.
Even Willow felt a pang in her heart.
On the side, Caleb could not stop crying.
In the end, after Josiahâs funeral matters were settled properly, everyone started placing flowers one
after the other in front of his grave.
It started drizzling at this juncture.
Felix immediately instructed his subordinates to prepare hundreds of black umbrellas to be distributed
to every guest at the funeral.
Tristan opened one of the umbrellas and held it for Sophie.
âOld Mr. Tanner, I know youâre most concerned about Sophie, but please be rest assured. Iâm here, and
Iâll take good care of her. No one will get to bully Sophie as long as Iâm alive.â
This would be the last time he said it because he would devote his entire life to ensuring he kept this
promise. He was not going to let Josiah down.
After the funeral attendees left, Sophie was still standing there.
Tristan, Felix, Sean, Charles, Ysabelle, and Sarah remained there, as they wanted to accompany
Sophie.
No matter what, they did not want Sophie to stay by herself in such a place.
âGrandpa, Iâm going to leave. You must make sure you take care of yourself, okay?â Sophie finally
spoke.
Her voice was hoarse. However, she was still able to enunciate each word clearly.
âYou donât need to worry about Morgan. Iâll take good care of him and not let anyone ill-treat him.â
Morgan was by Josiahâs side for so long, so naturally, she had the duty to take care of him.
She continued, âGrandpa, Iâm leaving soon, but Iâll come back to see you when I have the time. You
know that Iâm a very brilliant person. I have to go help out Chanaea now that such a thing happened. I
know the bond you have with Chanaea, so donât worry! Iâll protect everything you loved.â
Josiah would have been proud of her if he had known what she had been up to recently.
âIâm fine. Letâs head back! You guys donât have to be like this. Iâm really fine.â She hadnât really spoken
for the past two days. Even though her throat still hurt, she had to say those words as she did not want
everyone to be worried about her.
âSophie, let me stay in the condominium with you for the next two days.â Ysabelle didnât want to leave
her alone.
Sophie caressed her face instead.
âThereâs no such need. You should go and do your thing. Iâm really fine.â A smile spread across
Sophieâs face.
Itâs all right. Iâm grateful to have so many friends by my side at this difficult time.
Sarah felt a pang in her heart.
âSophie! If you need anything, you have to let me know!â Sarah looked at her worriedly.
âSarah, Iâm really fine! Everyone, Iâm okay! Donât worry about me!â Sophie stated with a smile.
She still had many things to do!
