Chapter 74
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 74
âSheâs just a vegetable who is of no threat whatsoever. Why would I be jealous of her?â Nancy retorted.
âIf you donât believe me, you can ask the person who took her away. I had nothing to do with. Heddaâs death.â
Emma covered her ears, screamed and ran out agitatedly.
As she watched her leave, Nancy finally couldnât control her emotions and laughed out loud.
Originally, she had some doubts about what Sarah had said. However, from Emmaâs reaction, Nancy was sure that something must have happened to Hedda. No one would compete with her for the status of the heir of the Mellis family anymore.
She had finally won a round!
Now that both Grace and Hedda were dead, no one would compete with her in her relationship with Edgar, and no one would stand in the way of her path to more fame and wealth.
Nancy was in a particularly good mood.
She began to eat her salad contentedly.
After taking several bites, she put the salad on the bedside cabinet and threw off the quilt.
Seeing this, the ser vant hurried over to help her up and asked in confusion, âMs. Nancy, what are you doing?â
âI want to be discharged.â
Nancy sounded determined. With the help of the ser vant, she sat in a wheelchair and left the ward.
After she came out of the hospital, Emma ordered the driver to drive to Patricâs villa as fast as he could.
Night had fallen. Stars hung in the sky and added a bit of beauty to the quiet night.
Emma barged into the yard angrily and woke the housekeeper and a group of ser vants who had already fallen asleep.
âItâs late, Ms. Emma. If you need to talk to Mr. Smith, you can come back tomorrow.â Thé housekeeper got up to welcome her drowsily and tried to be as polite as possible.
âI canât wait till tomorrow! I want to see my daughter right now!â Emmaâs eyes were red as she pushed him away. âWhere is Hedda?â
âPlease calm down. Youâll disturb the othersâ rest. Please go back.â When he saw how agitated Emma was, the housekeeper immediately stopped Emma with the help of the other ser vants.
âWhat are
you waiting for? Come and help me!â Emma turned around and shouted angrily at her bodyguards.
While the bodyguards and ser vants of the Mellis family were arguing, Emma snuck into the villa.
She looked up. The light on the third floor was on. She quickly went upstairs.
Patric, standing at the stairs, saw Emma. Before he could talk, Emma grabbed his sleeve.
âWhere is my daughter? I need to see her now!â
Patric frowned and pulled away from her. He straightened his cuffs elegantly and said, âCalm down.
She is receiving treatment in the room on the third floor. You can rest assured.â
Chapter 74
âNo. I want to see her NOW!â
Emma could not be assured until she was sure that Hedda was alive.
Grace heard the quarrel outside. As soon as she came out of the room, she saw this scene and walked over.
âMs. Mellis, I told you that I would ensure Heddaâs safety when I took her away. You agreed at that time, but now youâve come to the villa late at night to disturb us. What do you mean by this?â
Seeing Grace, Emma immediately grabbed her and refused to let her go. âI donât care about that now. I want to stop working with you! Now take me to see Hedda. I will take her away right now!â
Grace frowned and pushed her hand away unhappily.
âI can understand that youâre worried about your daughter, but please donât forget that you represent the entire Mellis family. Does the Mellis family also have such a casual attitude in business? I wonât allow you to take Hedda away.â
For a moment, Emma was at a loss for words. She didnât know how to refute her, so she had no choice but to make a huge fuss.
âAnyway, if you donât let me see my daughter today, I wonât leave even if I die here!â
Just as Grace was about to ask someone to send Emma off, a ser vant who had been accompanying Hedda came out of the room anxiously.
âMs. Grace, Ms. Hedda is in a critical condition!â
âWhat?â
Hearing the serv antâs voice, Emma pushed Grace away desperately and rushed into the room.
âHowâs Hedda? Let me in to see her!â
Grace quickly grabbed her and stopped her.
âIf you go in now and interrupt any treatment process, you will really endanger her life! Do you really want to lose your daughter forever?â
Emma was shocked by Graceâs sharp tone and glare.
After being stunned for a few seconds, Emma struggled to get up as she tried to break free from Graceâs grip. However, she was no match for Grace, who had learned ju-jitsu.
âDonât try to scare me! You took my daughter away and now you would not let me see her. If anything happens to her, I wonât let you off! I must see her today!â she said angrily.
Emma tried her best to break free from Graceâs grip, but still failed.
âLet me go! Let me in!â
âOkay, then go in! You would only interrupt the operation inside. If anything happens to Hedda, itâs all your fault.â
Grace suddenly loosened her grip, crossed her arms over her chest, and looked at Emma coldly.
Emma stag gered before she regained her balance and stared at Grace in disbelief.
âHow dare you operate on Hedda without my permission?â
âChad is operating on Hedda. He has a masterâs degree in medicine and has won countless international awards. He is the top surgeon in the entire surgical field. None of his operations have failed. I believe you have heard of his reputation. If you rush in now and interrupt the operation, it would really hurt Hedda.â

Emma, who had already walked to the door and held the door handle, hesitated for a moment.
She and Jack had wanted to invite Chad to treat Hedda before, but Chad was too famous and aloof. A small wealthy family like theirs in Frant City couldnât afford to do that at all.
âGrace was able to persuade Chad to come to Frant City in person!
Should I trust her?â
Emma stood in front of the door. As long as she gently opened the door a little, she would be able to see her precious daughter in the room if she wished.
However, she struggled for a long time.
In the end, she withdrew her hand.
âI will trust you one more time, Grace. But remember, if anything happens to Hedda, I wonât let you off!â
She said unwillingly and left.
Grace and Patric looked at each other, breathed a sigh of relief, and returned to the operating room.
The hor izon gradually brightened.
Emma got into the car and closed her eyes wearily.
âMs. Mellis, where are weâ¦?â the driver asked tentatively.
âGo back.â
Emma opened her eyes, and a fierce look suddenly flashed across her face.
The black BMW slowly drove into the garage. Emmaâs expression changed and she ran all the way.
into the hall.
Jack was sitting in the hall watching the morning news, while Nancy sat next to him.
âHow harmonious!â Emma thought.
âHoney!â
Emmaâs so bs broke the dam ned harmony.
The two people sitting on the sofa turned around and saw Emma rushing to Jack with a sad face. She cried, âHoney! Hedda is gone!â
