Chapter 198
The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife
Chapter 198
âDonât touch it, itâs dirty,â Grace warned.
She looked at Edgar, her thoughts clear. âThis blood is fresh, which means something just happened here. When you and Eric rushed over, didnât you see anything?â
Edgar remained silent but glanced at Eric.
I saw
Eric understood the unspoken message and explained, âI arrived first. When I came in, someone jumping out of the window and fleeing. I managed to wound him with a knife. This blood should be from that person.
âWhat happened to that person? With your skills, how did he manage to escape from you?â Grace inquired, seeking answers.
Eric scratched his head, feigning embarrassment. âIâm sorry, it was my oversight. He had backup, so I didnât pursue him.â
Fine, there was no point in pursuing further if nobody was chasing the suspect.
Grace glanced at Edgar again, noting that apart from his injured face and lips, he seemed fine
âLetâs go back to the Cloud View Villa,â she suggested, turning to leave the room.
Edgar followed behind her, every step pulling on the whip wound on his lower back.
Erie quickly stepped forward to support him, noticing his discomfort.
Curious about the commotion behind her, Grace halted and turned back. âWhatâs wrong?â
Edgar took a deep breath, forcing a smile. âItâs nothing. I just slipped a bit.â
Eric rolled his eyes. How could he shift the blame onto him?
Bitterly smiling at Grace. Eric said, âYes, I lost my footing. Fortunately, I reacted quickly and grabbed Mr. Fallenâs arm to prevent a fall!â
Grace brushed off the incident, not dwelling on it, and swiftly exited the abandoned factory.
Edgar asked Eric to drive away the car he arrived in and return with Graceâs car. Throughout the journey, Edgar sat upright, his suit impeccable, not leaning against the car seat.
Grace noticed his posture and recalled the burn on his back.
Edgar cleared his throat and spoke after a moment of silence, âItâs alright. Donât worry, he will surely reveal something tomorrow.â
âGood,â Grace responded, leaving the conversation at that.
They soon arrived at Cloud View Villa, entering the living room together.
While Grace leisurely changed her shoes, Edgar had already changed his clothes. He took her hand and led her upstairs.
After climbing two steps, he stopped abruptly and said, âGrace, are you hungry tonight? Iâm a bit tired, and I want to rest for half an hour before cooking.â

Grace felt a sense of unease but didnât object. âIâm not very hungry. I can eat later.â
âThen Iâll go up first,â Edgar said, disappearing around the corner of the second floor.
For some reason, Grace had an odd feeling. She sensed that his subtle expressions were all the way
back.
Had the burn on his back worsened?
Chapter 158
She followed him to the second floor, only to find Edgarâs door unlocked.
Pushing the door open gently, she saw him lying quietly under the blanket, seemingly asleep. However, Grace noticed that he was lying on his stomach, still wearing his suit jacket.
She entered the room, walked to the edge of his bed, and sat down, reaching out to touch his forehead.
Feeling the touch of her cold hand, Edgarâs eyelashes trembled. âI donât have a fever. Iâm just tired. Iâll be fine,â he murmured.
Indeed, his forehead felt slightly warm, indicating no fever.
Perhaps she was overthinking things.
âAlright then, rest,â Grace withdrew her hand, preparing to get up and leave. But suddenly, she felt a strong grip tight around her waist. Before she could react, she realized that Edgar had wrapped his arms tightly around her, burying his head in her lap while his upper body lay on her thigh.
She was initially taken aback, not expecting him to be so bold this time.
âStop!â she exclaimed, attempting to break free. However, Edgarâs grip only tightened, and he seemed unaffected by her resistance.
Just let me hold you for a while, he pleaded softly.
Grace hesitated for a moment. She remembered her resolve from the previous night to cut off any romantic thoughts and maintain their master-ser vant relationship. Yet, she found herself relenting and allowed him to embrace her.
The room fell into silence, and everything seemed to be in harmony. But Edgarâs brows furrowed, and his every breath seemed to cause him pain throughout his body.
The burn on his back was deteriorating without proper medication, causing the pain to intensify.
However, the sweet fragrance emanating from Graceâs body was as tempting as honey, making him reluctant to let go.
As he lay on her lap, Grace could sense the heaviness in his breathing and the discomfort in his body.
Something wasnât quite right.
âAfter five days, the burn on your back shouldnât hurt as much as before. Why does it seem like youâre in pain?â she inquired, concerned.
Edgar remained silent, grappling with the throbbing pain in his body.
Growing suspicious, Grace reached for the collar of his shirt. But Edgar swiftly caught her wrist, stopping her.
âIâm fine. Besides, without medicine, removing the bandage will only worsen the situation,â he said, his voice filled with suppressed pain.
She was right, butâ
âBut why do you look so hurt? Did something happen today when you went out?â Grace persisted, her worry evident. âStand up, lake off your clothes, and let me see.â
Undress again?
Edgar felt somewhat helpless. Just as he was about to respond. Eleven knocked on the door.
âMiss, the Knight familyâs bodyguard is here,â Eleven announced.
âWhy would the Knight familyâs bodyguard be here?â Grace wondered aloud. Could it be that the Kright family had already discovered that Nick was missing?
The Millioure and
Eleven explained, âItâs because of the trouble caused by the Knight familyâs daughter. They canât find Mr. Nick, and since youâre the only one in Frant City, theyâre seeking your help. Miss?â
Grace fell into deep thought. Joan had been close to her since childhood, and their families had a strong bond. If the Knight familyâs bodyguards were seeking her assistance while Nick remained captive, it was clear that something was amiss,
However, with Edgarâs conditionâ
Glancing down at the man in her arms, she noticed him sensing her gaze and voluntarily releasing his grip, lying back down on the bed.
âIâll go back to sleep. Iâll make dinner when you return,â he murmured.
Having made his request, Edgar left Grace with nothing more to say. âRest, but I still need to see you injury when I come back. Do you understand?â she warned.
Edgar hummed. Grace remained seated by his bedside for a while longer, observing as his breathing gradually calmed and his expression grew peaceful. Finally, she stood up and led Eleven, Anna, and the Knight family bodyguards out of the room.
As the sound of the carâs engine faded into the distance, Edgar called Nineteen into the room
âMr. Fallen, what can I do for you?â Nineteen asked with concern.
Edgar clenched his teeth, inhaling sharply to alleviate the pain that coursed through his body. After a few moments, he managed to speak, his voice strained, âThe medicine cabinet In the locker on the first floorâs living room, help meâ treat my wound.â
âOf course, right away!â Nineteen promptly responded. He hurried downstairs and swiftly returned with his medical kit in hand.
âMr. Fallen, where are you injured? Nineteen inquired, his eyes widening in shock as he took in the sight of the large, mottled bloodstains on the back of Edgarâs white shirt.
âWhat happened? How did you sustain such injuries?!â Nineteen exclaimed in disbelief. Edgar sighed, the pain evident in his voice. âItâs a long story. Just help me take off my suit.â
Nineteen didnât dare to waste any time. He quickly stepped forward, assisting Edgar in removing his suit jacket. However, as the fabric fell away, Nineteenâs shock deepened at the sight of the gruesome burns and wounds that marred Edgarâs back.
âThis isâ This is terrible! How did this happen? Nineteen asked, his voice filled with concern and compassion.
