My Neighbor (GirlxGirl)
Alex's POV
It's Monday today, which means school. I sigh as I cross the door of the ugly building that I have to study in for a couple more months. I still haven't quite settled with my new schedule, classes and teachers but I'll manage.
Neil hasn't texted me today so I guess he's skipping school. I decide to text Sam and see what he's up to.
"Hey asshole" Casey comes up from behind me as I raise my eyes from my phone
"Hi" I smile at her
"How was it with your friend after you left me alone at the bar?" She smirks and I immediately jump up. I remember things clearly although I was pretty much done and wouldn't want her to suspect that anything is going on between Eve and I. Casey and I just started hanging out again and it's too early to trust her fully.
"She's just my neighbour you know, I asked her to pick me up cause I knew I probably wouldn't make it home, that's all" I say and she seems convinced
"Oh okay, thought you were dating her" She says with a hint of amusement in her voice
"No" I roll my eyes
"Let's go to class?" She asks and I remember we have math together. I groan at the thought of having math right now. It's 8am.
We come into the classroom slightly late as the teacher stares at us with his smuggish face.
"Miss Dawson, Miss Jones, why are you late?" He asks
I shrug my shoulders and take a seat. Am not about to do this right now.
He notes something down angrily and starts his lesson. I take my phone out as I see that Casey is asleep next to me. I put her hood over her head so her ears aren't cold.
I remember that Cindy texted me last night to which I forgot to reply. Of course I want to hang out with her ; I feel like Eve might be okay with it now that I know she doesn't hate me, or at least I hope so.
alexdwsn âï¸ : of course i want to hang out! 𥰠just text me when ur free
After a couple minutes, I see her typing. Shouldn't she be in class? That's right, she's in high school as well now.
Cind ð¦ : Oh nice!! I don't have any homework today after school I think, do you want to go shopping??
I smile at her message, truly feeling like I have a little sister
alexdwsn âï¸ : let's do it!! ill come pick you up at 4
Cind ð¦ : okay!!
I put my phone down before the teacher sees it and try focusing on the rest of the class. That didn't quite work out.
After a couple hours Casey and I make our way into the cafeteria together. She asked me to sit with her and the guys for lunch and I figured I would since Neil and Sam both aren't here, it can't be that bad even though last time was a shut show.
"Dude Brian discovered this insane hill that's kind of hidden and we fucked there and he almost fell off a rock it was.. wild" She says, whispering that last part as we're waiting for food with our plates. I make a disgusted face.
I miss my hill, where I used to go with my bike. I should go there soon. I hope she's not talking about the same one although I highly doubt that ; my hill is pretty well hidden.
She starts laughing at my facial expression as we get our food and head to a table where Brian and some of his friends are already sitting. They greet us and we sit down next to them.
"So who's bringing the beers on Wednesday?" Brian asks the guys
I look up, having no clue what they're talking about
"Party at Josh" Brian enlightens me and I respond with "Oh"
"You can come but don't bring your weird ass friends alright? Don't wanna start fights" Brian says while chewing on his food
"Dude it's always the fucking skaters man" They say while trying to refer to Neil and Sam.
"Should have punched his ass harder" A third one says, I think his name is Tyler, as they all start laughing. Casey giggles forcefully. I keep eating my food, not having the nerves to do this today.
They keep talking about some random uninteresting things as I look up and make eye contact with Neil, three tables further. He's eating with Sam. I sigh, feeling guilty for even spending time with these jocks. Neil looks back down at his plate, ignoring me.

A couple hours pass and I am finally done for the day. I unlock my bike and head home, looking forward to our shopping Evening with Cindy in around an hour.
It's 3:05pm as I get home.
"Dad?" I yell. No answer. I saw him this morning but he left quick. I am a little bit worried about him but he's never been very talkative so I know not to ask too many questions.
I sigh and get an apple from the fridge and lay down on my sofa.

Eve's POV
I unlock the car door once on our sidewalk and the kids get out and head into the house. I lock the car and follow them in.
I see Harvey working in the kitchen again and anger rises through me. He wasn't here this morning but I guess his new thing is surprising me whenever I'm not home. I should change the lock.
He says hi to the kids and mumbles a "hi honey" to me as he goes back to working. I sit opposite from him and open my own laptop. I have a couple interviews and emails to work through.
Suddenly, Cindy appears in the kitchen
"Hi baby" I say while looking through my emails.
"Hey mom" She says and ignores her dad and takes something from the fridge.
"I'm going shopping with Alex today" She tells me and I immediately look up, my heartbeat rising.
"You are?" I ask and she nods, heading back to her room
"Hold on, come here" Harvey tells her. She takes a step back and sighs angrily.
"Alex the neighbour?" He asks his daughter
"Yeah" She nods
"Why would you hang out with her? Why not girls your age?" Harvey asks
"We're just going shopping what's your problem?" The 13 year old asks
"My problem is that this girl is a bad influence and I don't want you going 'shopping' with her. Go to your room." He says and looks back at his screen. Cindy is close to tears.
"She's not a bad influence, she took really great care of her last time. She can go." I step in with a tone of anger in my voice. Cindy smiles at me slightly.
Harvey sighs and takes off his glasses. "Cindy go to your room I need to have a talk with your mom." She groans and goes away
"What the fuck is wrong with you, letting our daughter hang out with this deranged whore?" He spits, making my stomach twist in anger
"Excuse me?" I say
"You heard me. This girl is way older, dresses like a prostitute with her heels and small tops and snatched tights, literally was outside our door while I was fucking you and you are letting our daughter hang out with her?" He says with a disgusted face
"Don't you dare fucking disrespecting her like that. Cindy likes spending time with her and she's always acted like a good fucking human being, unlike you" I say, not being able to calm down, not being able contain my anger while hearing these words about Alex.
"Why are you defending an 18 year old whore so much? You want to fuck her, is that it? I mean she does look fukeable, If I was her age I'd-" He says, spiking me on purpose. I contain myself this time.
"You're deranged" I spit
"This girl looks like she needs older men." He continues "I wouldn't be surprised if that's why she was here so often. I do agree with you that she is hot, I just dont want her around my daughter. I'll take care of that" He smirks and I breathe heavily, these horrible images flashing through my eyes. I didn't know he felt this way about her. I need to make sure he stays away from her.
Suddenly a ring is heard on the bell. I gulp at the thought of it being Alex behind the door after what Harvey just said. I go over but he is quicker than me and opens the door before me, at my defeat.
There she is standing. Sunnies on top of her head, the same ones that she always has. Silver jewellery on her ears, a couples ones. One of her earrings is a sword. I notice that she wears that one often. Her go-to leather jacket covers a Guns n roses band shirt that she has cut in a way that shows her belly. I notice a small bellybutton piercing. I haven't ever looked at Alex this much before ; I've always held back. My eyes continue their trajectory on a small black skirt, those thighs that she always has on that are ripped in a couple spots and her Doc Martens. She looks breathtaking, in her own way.
She seems surprised to see Harvey and slightly scared. I want to tell him to go away.
"Alex" He says, with a fake smile across his lips
"Mr Spencer" She greets him back, trying to keep her cool.
"Who are you here to see this time?" He asks in a sarcastic tone
"Uh I'm just going shopping with Cindy at the mall down the-" She says softly and he cuts her off
"You're taking Cindy shopping? Want her to adopt your style?" He says while looking down, trying to degrade her
She looks down and feels embarrassed.
"You certainly wouldn't want a 13 year old girl to dress like you, right?" He says
She gulps "Of course not, she doesn't dress like this at all-"
"That's enough Harvey-" I step in but he pushes me away from the door
He chuckles angrily "And my wife here seems to be very interested in defending you. You might want to join us in that bedroom next time instead of spying"
Alex's eyes widen at his words, probably not believing that he just said that. I know he has no clue what has been going on between her and I and just wants to spike me, but Alex is clueless and confused.
"What's going on?" We hear Cindy's voice from behind. I pinch my lips, hoping she didn't hear.
"Just greeting your friend" Harvey says and goes back to his laptop. Cindy looks furious as I look at Alex. I'm glad and surprised she's keeping her cool.
"Have her home in 2 hours" I say to her quietly and she nods as I close the door behind them
"My mother wants us to come over soon for dinner, she wants to see the kids" Harvey tells me once we're alone, not once looking away from his laptop
"Go see her with the kids then" I say monotonously
"You're coming as well" He responds
"No thank you" I say as I make myself a coffee
"It's not up to discussion" He says and I look him dead in the eyes
"You haven't ever insisted on me seeing your mother even when we got along. This prick act that you have going on doesn't stick, Harvey. I am done with you. Get the house for all I know, I don't fucking care. Once I get a job, I will divorce you and it will get ugly." I say, barely keeping hold of myself
"Where did all that come from Eve, hm?" He stands up and sighs "How did we get like this?" He says softly
"You're not the man you used to be. Don't touch me and don't start acting like this." I sigh, knowing exactly what he is up to
"Am I not enough for you? I bust my ass to keep the kids at school and get us this life. You've helped so much. We make a great team, babe. Let's get back to our old selves." He says convincingly, softly stroking my shoulders
"You've disrespected me far too many times for me to ever forgive you, Harvey. You've yelled and cheated. You broke your relationship with Cindy. We can't ever go back and you know that." I hold my ground
"Can I ask you a question?" He says and I nod.
"Is there someone else?" He asks and I gulp
"There isn't anyone else for me. I don't even care about how many secretaries you've fucked at this point" I roll my eyes angrily
"Then why are you so protective over this Alex girl, huh? You know, I did some research" He says and I can feel my heart beat out of its cage
"Research?" I ask
He nods and takes out his phone "Alex Dawson.. daughter of Charlie and Isabelle Dawson.. did you know her mother is dead?"
I gulp, trying really hard not to seem interested or give in. He's way too suspicious of me. Harvey is aware of my attraction to women but I really don't think he's go as far as knowing that I have had multiple encounters with Alex ; she's so young. He wouldn't know, unless he figured something out.
"Yeah, she died a couple years ago.. and guess what" He says while looking at her phone "Her dad was arrested with drug charges three years ago but released because he was apparently clean" He laughs, lacking all sense of empathy. "Maybe he was only dealing.. Oh and it also turns out that she likes partying a lot although she doesn't have many pictures on Instagram, she's tagged on some interesting stuff" He says and turns the phone around, showing me a picture.
A picture of Alex and the girl that she was with at the bar, doing lines of cocaine. I see the date is set to a year ago. Harvey swipes to the next picture, where they are seen making out. I sigh, not knowing whether to feel disappointed, worried out allow myself to be jealous.
Harvey takes his phone back and pulls out a picture of Alex in a bikini on the beach, sitting on a boy's lap. I clench my jaw.
"Such a good influence on Cindy, I agree fully" He says sarcastically.
I go up to my bedroom, not bearing to face him any longer. There's nothing I could possibly say that could arrange this. Is he sick for having so many pictures of her? Am I sick for feeling so connected to her? I said it myself, she is so young. I couldn't possibly allow myself to build anything with her, although I'm dying to. I'm dying to know her. I sigh and lay down.
