Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince Chapter 860
Fated To The Cursed Lycan Prince
Harryâs POV:
After I left Sylvia and Rufus, I went back to the army to wait as I was told.
However, I was unable to reach Sylvia all night. And to make matters worse, something seemed wrong with Prince Rufus. Sylvia was probably hiding something from me.
In the dead of night, I sat on the balcony, drinking one bottle of cola after another. I didnât stop until my stomach was about to burst.
However, the cola couldnât drown all my worries. I still missed Joanna so much. I had never before felt so helpless in my entire life. Had I been stronger, I could have protected Joanna from getting hurt.
Disheartened, I lay down and gazed up at the night sky. Extreme sadness filled my entire being as I knew there was nothing I could do.
âJust sleep, Harry. Everything will be fine after a good nightâs rest.â My wolf tried to calm me down.
After days of sleep deprivation, I gradually fell asleep in the comforting words of my wolf.
In the middle of my sleep, I was suddenly awakened by a nightmare. I abruptly sat up from the balcony bench in my shorts and tank top.
It was already dawn. The sky was overcast, and it was drizzling.
I wiped my face hard to wake myself up.
Then I checked my phone only to realize it had run out of battery. With a light stretch, I stood up to charge my phone before going to the bathroom to take a cold shower. Then I changed into a fresh set of sportswear, grabbed my phone, and dashed back to the imperial palace.
Rufusâ palace was as heavily-guarded as ever. As soon as I arrived at the gate, I was stopped by cold-faced soldiers.
âIâm sorry, Mr. Myers, but you canât go in.â
âIâm looking for Princess Sylvia and Prince Rufus,â I said anxiously. It had been a whole night, but I still hadnât heard back from Sylvia. Was there really something wrong?
âThe queen has taken Prince Rufus to get treated and recuperate. As for Sylvia Todd, she is now a sinner. Sheâs behind bars now and is no longer our princess,â the soldier said with a straight face.
I was rendered in utter shock after hearing the news. âWhat?! What happened?! How could Sylvia be a sinner? Stop messing with me!â
Sneering, the soldier said, âDo you really think I would make light of such a serious issue? If you donât believe me, you can check your phone. The queen has issued a national announcement this morning that Sylvia Todd betrayed the country. The evidence is irrefutable.â
I quickly pulled out my phone to check it. And there it wasâthe story was front and center when I accessed the imperial political newspaperâs website.
It claimed Sylvia was responsible for Ethanâs death and that the evidence was indisputable. A death sentence had been handed down, and she was scheduled to be executed in three days.
How could it be possible? This was unbelievable!
I was fuming. Someone must have set Sylvia up.
âYou are a good friend of Sylvia Todd, right? She betrayed the country. Surely you are aware of this.â There was malice in the soldierâs eyes as he gazed at me.
I was instantly enraged and shot him a stern stare. âShut the f**k up! If you keep your mouth shut, no one will think youâre a mute. Sylvia canât betray this country! There must be some misunderstanding.â
After cursing at the soldier, I hurried to Lauraâs palace.
When I arrived, I saw Laura resting with her eyes closed. Hearing the sound of my footsteps, she slowly opened her eyes and said in a low voice, âYour father called me a few days ago and said that he wanted you to be transferred back to the pack from the army.â
I was not in the mood to deal with that matter right now. Instead, I directly asked her about Sylvia, âWhy are you in such a hurry to sentence Sylvia? Donât you think thereâs something off about this case? We havenât found out the truth yet.â
Laura sat up, poured a cup of tea, and placed it in front of me. âYou are still as reckless as you were when you were a child. As the future Alpha of your pack, when are you planning to grow up?â
Because of what she said, I started to feel nervous. I didnât know why Laura was beating around the bush. It was clear she was avoiding my question. What was she hiding? Did she know something that I didnât?
âI have decided to release Joanna. I know she is your mate. And since the real murderer is Sylvia, Joanna is now free to go. However, she was expelled from the school for using a fake identity and had to leave the capital city. As for you, I promised your father to transfer you back to your pack from the army. You can leave the capital city with Joanna. Isnât that what you want?â
âWhat about Sylvia? What is really going on here? I know sheâs not the real murderer. Itâs unfair that you sentence her to death without properly investigating.â I kept asking Laura.
âEnough, Harry! If you keep pestering me about this, Iâll arrest you as her accomplice!â Obviously, I had exhausted Lauraâs patience. She couldnât bear it anymore and pounded the table with her palm.
