Chapter 96
Stronger
GraysonPOV:
âI know youâre probably scared and I know you probably think weâre here to hurt you I want you to know
that is the last thing I want,â I addressed the waking rouges in my cells as the day began.
âYou will be given food, clothes, water, if you have any need of medical treatment it will be provided. I
understand certain promises may have been made to you but know this the man who made them is a
demon. He will doubleâcross you and I intend to kill him for the things heâs done to my family,â they all
poked over at each other wideâeyed and confused.
âIâll let you get used to your surroundings and eat your breakfasts. If you have any questions please
give them to my Beta Matthew,â
Matt nodded to them and then we exited. We heard them murmuring to themselves about what was
going on..
âI thought that their war was over,â one of them whispered.
âNo one said anything about the other alpha still being alive,â
âI thought he was beaten,â
I smirked to myself it appeared my game plan was the right one. A few days of rest and relaxation
should loosen their
tongues.
They were given simple meals, anything truly delicious would be used as leverage and I kept the room
just cold enough to warrant want of layers. They were given basic garments and shoes.
They were seen by the River Phase pack physician. Two of them were dehydrated one of them had a
small respiratory Infection.
A part of me felt pity for them and I wished that they hadnât been put into this mess, but at the very least
they now had a chance at a better life.
One day went by and when the next morning meal came I walked back into the room.
âHow are you all feeling?â I asked aloud to them.
The big one stood up. âFine,â
I kept in a smirk at his attempt to play tough. He was lacking in many aspects if he wanted to take me
on heâd need
more than grit.
âWho hired you?â I began my interrogation.
âMarcus Cathal heâs an alpha for the Crescent Bane pack,â the guy shrugged.
âThat he is,â I sat down. âWhat did he hire you for?â
âHow do we know you wonât kill us the second you get your information,â the man shot back a question.
âWe know how packs feel about rogues,â
âAre you fugitives?â I looked over them.
âNo, well not truly,â he looked over at the girl.
âMy pack calls me one but itâs just because I refused to marry my heir,â I could see true fear in her
eyes.
I wished for my wife sheâd comfort her and tell her what she needed to hear. Sheâd promise them haven
and mean it, her sincerity shining through.
âIf thatâs true we will not turn you away.â I kept my face passive. I didnât know them and she could have
been lying to me but a girl that young probably wasnât.
âIf youâre no threat to us you can stay and youâll be welcomed,â I promised.
âHe hired us to go to his lands sniff around and see if there was any scent of other wolves,â the big one
informed me.
âWhere did you meet him?â
âParking lot in Seattle,â he shrugged.
Damn. Heâd been sniffing around there a lot but I couldnât get on him staying there. I could however
reach out to the Alphas of Seattle and see if they knew anything.
âDid you hear anything about a woman named Annette she looks like this,â I turned over a tablet with
my wifeâs picture on it.
Seeing her smile in the photo made my gut twist.
âNope doesnât look familiar,â the guy shook his head.
âAnd you didnât hear mention of her.â I scanned their faces.
âNo,â they all answered.
âLiar,â I looked at the young boy next to his sister and pointed at him.
âSheâs my wife tell me what you know,â I pressed him walking up to the cage his sister put an arm over
him.
âI just heard them say sheâs still asleep thatâs it,â the kid went wide eyed. âIâm not even sure thatâs who
they were talking about,â
It was enough though. If I knew she was with him or he had someone watching her. That was enough if
I found him
Iâd find Annette.
âThank you,â I nodded to him.
I headed out ready to send some requests to the alphas of Seattle and itâs a gift or two. I wanted my
wife back and Id
go broke to do it.
âSend a gift to the four alphas of Seattle I want them in good spirits when I ask the favor of intel,â I
spoke to Matt. âLetâs send them our finest pelts and a set of emerald earring for their wives,â I smiled.
âExpensive,â Matt gave me raised brows.
âOne of them knows you and I both are aware of that no wolf sets foot in a city without the pack alphas
being aware. I want them to see they made friends with the wrong wolf,â
âYes sir,â Matt gave me a tightâlipped nod. Iâm sure he thought this frivolous but what else was I to do?
My motherâinâlaw met me up at the top steps and handed off my son. âHeâs been eating now,â she was
heavily annoyed that the trick Lilianna gave me was working. She wanted me to be a villain even at the
expense of her grandson.
âThank you, Eva,â I took my son from her and patted his back as we walked.
âTheyâve talked then?â Leon started walking next to me.
âYes. I think they have more to tell us but theyâre still hesitant. Thatâs fine I have enough I need Iâve got
a thread now itâs time to pull,â
âSounds good to me,â Leon smiled. He was an optimist and saw the good in life, much like my wife.
I looked down at our son he had her nose thank the goddess but his hair was black like mine. He was
our mixture an heir with hopefully the better parts of both of us.
I had to bring her home for his sake, I wouldnât know how to raise a health alpha all on my own I
wanted him to be caring like her and to see the good in others the way she does.
Two days later I went back down to the cells to see there was anything else theyâd give me.
âSo youâll even let us stay?â The girl looked over at me with zero trust.
âThereâs some here you may not want to take in,â The big one sighed. âIf you donât take us all we will
leave and wonât bother you again,â
âExplain,â I set my face. I figured one of them had to be a fugitive.
âIâm pregnant,â the young girl looked away in shame. âI got pregnant by a different wolf than my
betrothed. They found out and banished me, my brother followed me,â she held his hand and kept her
face towards the wall.
Poor thing. She had probably been put in the worldâs worst circumstances.
âAnd your babyâs father?â I looked at the ground.
âHe was the one who turned me in,â she sniffled.
âIâll have you seen too right away for your babyâs sake and yours youâll be given extra portions of food
and yes. All of
you will be able to stay,â I agreed.
âHeâs out of money and turning to people for lours. Heâs promised your land to other Alphas. Heâs
desperate and he sent us to his one not to see if you would attack but if the diag Lycan Council would,â
the big one gave up the
information.
âYou will be given places to settle in the younger ones will be given a home with a family thatâs willing to
take them in and youâll be tattooed as part of our pack. Break my trust and youâll be behended, all of
you,â
They seemed to understand the threat and the promise they had to make. I would tattoo the younger
ones but theyâd be welcome to stay and take the pledge when they were of ag..
We could use new wolves with all weâd lost in the war. Annette would have been appalled to hear the
young girlâs story Iâm sure my wife would take a liking to her when she came home
My cousin had given us a doctor since mine had been let go. She seemed a samunt woman, she
inspected the young girl and her and her baby were alright for not having steady stream of nutrition.
They were released, and now I needed to find out
at where he was getting his mutry and resources Then Iâd have to
burn them to the ground.
